Purchased in March 2018 on Amazon. Worked well for the first 7 months now I had to perform power cleaning to unclog the color nozzles (multiple regular cleaning cycles did nothing). Power Cleaning did the trick but it comes at a price of a ton of ink being used and shortening the ink pad life. From Epson website: "Running a Power Cleaning consumes a lot of ink, so you should run it only if necessary. Make sure each ink tank is at least one-third full before running a Power Cleaning, or it may damage the product. Power Cleaning may cause the ink pads to reach their capacity sooner. When an ink pad reaches the end of its service life, the product stops printing and you must contact Epson for support." Whats the point of EcoTank if the only way to keep your printer working is to consume it all during nozzle cleaning cycles. 1 star for missing the mark completely with this printer; EcoTank was the primary selling point for me. I will refrain from complaining about the screen and interface, but I do agree with many other reviewers. I am very disappointed with this Epson printer; I have owned several in my life.

Let me start by saying that i dont print in high volumes. Perhaps 10 pages a week. More some weeks and less others. But when I want to print, I want to do it now. I have had various HP printers and was getting frustrated with ink cartridges that seemed to dry up quickly. Combine that with the fact that we have 5 printers, a copier, a fax machine (who uses those any more?) and a scanner in the house and not a single one uses the same ink cartridge, the costs were outrageous. I looked into a replacement for my old HP printers and found this Epson EcoTank printer. This printer does everything I could possibly want. I easily print from my computers and phone by wifi. The edge to edge color printing of photos from my phone is very nice (Ive only used plain bright white paper for photos and the quality is decent). Scanned documents to computer in PDF form to send via email - no problem. Setup was not difficult. Followed directions to the letter and everything worked. It did take about an hour. Im still getting used to the menu options and after more use Im sure it will be much easier. The only thing Im trying to figure out now is how to set it up to scan to different computers, and I think it can scan directly to email. Did I mention that this thing comes with lots of ink? The box contained enough ink to fill each EcoTank, and an extra set of ink, one full size bottle of each color, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. A total of 8 bottles of ink. Overall Im very pleased with this purchase. No need to purchase expensive ink cartridges and comes with lots of ink. Can print via wifi from phone/computer. Can print via direct connection from computer (must have or purchase a separate cable to do this) Can make copies (bye bye copier) Can scan to computer and probably to phone to email once I figure out how to set that up. (good bye scanner and fax machine) Output tray is a little flimsy feeling, but I have it in a location where thats not an issue. Not difficult to set up or operate - but a learning curve for more advanced features.

I have mixed emotions about the printer - some things I love, some things I do not. The Good: - Love the lack of cartridges - the printer is easy and cheap to refill - Easy set up - Compact The Bad: - Has not always printed well over the network. It is often slow or doesnt work at all for no apparent reason (not sure if that is the printer or me, but I am tech savvy enough to know that it SHOULD be working) - Prints slowly, especially double sided. Even if I plug it in directly to avoid network errors, it is simply not fast. If you want doubled sided then it takes even longer. Even just two double sided pages can take about a 1 minute to print. Overall I would be hesitant to repurchase. I love not having to deal with cartridges, but for the price the printer seems to function somewhat poorly.

I was really happy with this printer. At first. It scans well, prints docs quick and clearly. refillable ink...I was tired of being ripped off paying astronomical prices for small tanks of ink for my Canon. The reason for the two stars? I tried to print a photo. On photo paper, I got white, broken lines every half inch. Its a new printer, its not clogged and yes, I had the settings correct for the paper type/quality/etc. So I tried printing on super high quality, bright white matt paper and hooboy! It looks like crap. Super disappointed.

I bought this printer to replace the last of a long line of cartridge printers from several other manufacturers of printers (Lexmark, HP, etc.) This is my first Epson printer. The ink wells were the most appealing thing to me. You can see the levels in the reservoirs at all times. I would say that we are a low printer use home. We do not have a small business, the kids are grown and gone, and we dont print things all that often. With that being said, we mostly print out concert/event tickets and a few other things no more than five times per month. We dont print photos here either. So, why was it that each time we went to print something on previous printers, the cartridges were always empty? Even if you pulled them out and shook them and heard the ink in them sloshing around, you were told by the printer that they were empty and all five needed replaced at the cost of about $25-$30 each. Then, you put the same cartridge back in and it tells you it cant use it because it is used? Wtf? Done! I have broken my addiction to cartridge printers with one click! A family member, who does own a small business, is the one who told me about these printers. He was victimized numerous times by the cartridge makers that claim to make printers. They dont make printers, they make cartridge selling boxes. When I randomly complained to him about my printer needing new cartridges, he told me to look up this line of printers. He has one and has had his for over a year and has the ET-3600 and he has zero complaints with it! He prints stuff almost everyday for his business and the words he used for his satisfaction of his printer were these ink wells are life changing!. I bought mine that night, got it in the mail a few days later, set it up, loaded the ink wells with the provided ink (also comes with a second set of bottles by the way!) and started printing! You will not understand the satisfaction of literally pouring ink into these wells from bottles that cost less than 10% of their cartridge equivalent. No more empty cartridges! This printer could be the last printer we buy! Yes, it does cost a little bit more, but you will easily make up for that in ink savings in a very short time. Do not hesitate to buy this printer or one like it!

I am cautiously optimistic about this printer for the semi-long term. It has a bunch of features, right off the bat, that work for me, and some of my initial nervousness went away immediately. So, unpacking and set-up. Much easier than I had worried. Out of the box, you remove the standard set of tape and protective material, and the only complication for the EcoTank is that instead of installing printer cartridges, you fill a set of tanks with ink yourself from the included bottles. How worried should you be about this process? Not at all. Im kind of a klutz, and I kept worrying about ink going everywhere, but the mating between the ink bottles and the tanks prevented any leakage. As soon as each separate ink tank was full, the process stopped, like topping off your gas tank. The only bug in that process is that the size of the ink tanks was slightly smaller than the size of the bottles, leaving just a bit of ink sitting in the first set of bottles, which now need to sit around until the next time I feel like topping off the tanks. Come on, guys. Just match the amounts. How hard would that be? Still, no spillage, given the mating. Then, with the printer turned on, you charge the internal ink jets. After that, there is a basic process of aligning everything, which is slightly annoying, but after that, youre good to go. Install the driver on your computer, and this thing prints quickly and about as nicely as you can expect from a pseudo-inkjet. Navigating the menus is relatively intuitive, and no real issues there. I will only point out one extra thing that gives the printer bonus points for me. You can see, just by looking at the fluid levels, from the outside of the printer, how much ink of each color you have. No messing around and wondering how close you are. No navigating menus to ask the computer to check ink levels. Its just right there. And thats nice, partly because lets be blunt about printer cartridges. Something can dry up, or block a head even when you still have ink clunking around. I like this feature. But, this is also where I start to get a little bit of pause. Stop me if youve had this experience-- your page comes out looking like garbage. Ink isnt making it to the page. Your computer tells you the ink is running low. You run a nozzle check/head cleaning, and that helps a little. You take the cartridge out, clean that off manually, and everything is fine! This has happened to me if I go too long without printing anything (how much I need to print varies a lot over time). With the EcoTank... no cartridges. So, this gives me some pause, for the long term. I will be dependent entirely on the nozzle check/head cleaning. Will it work? I hope so, because if not, I cant just replace an ink cartridge! If some ink dries up somewhere after a slightly prolonged period of non-use, will this thing become a giant paperweight? I... dont know. As of right now, the printer is new, so I cant tell you. Ill update the review if this becomes a problem. Right now, its just something about the structure and design that might warrant consideration if you have prolonged periods of not-printing-stuff. So far, though, so good.

Wow! After a lot of years fighting with printers I finally have one that is easy to set up and use with my iMac....most others are preset for Windows and we Mac types have to struggle to get the gizmos to work. The only extra Mac thing I had to do was to download the Mac drivers....no prob. And, on top of that good stuff its footprint on my desktop is about 60% of the last one which was a monster. This one doesnt have fax but who cares nowadays; its got everything else. This is the ONLY printer Ive ever had that scans and then lets me manipulate the document without a hassle and a Phd in geek. The ink is a piece of cake to install....that scared me before I did it in the set up. This is the way I think printers should have been for a long, long time.

The most user interface unfriendly printer ever. The panel on the printer itself is annoying to set. To print from the computer is utterly frustrating. You cant make custom sizes for printouts. It is cookie cutter and has very few selections for image printouts. It says that you can customize size but if you put a sheet of regular sized paper in the paper cassette and you want to print out a 5x7 image, it tells you that the size of the paper does not match the size to be printed!?! WTF! At that point you have to use the panel (good luck with that) and go through 3 different processes to make it print and the size that prints out is not what you asked for. Its never 4x6 or 5x7, but some odd size I didnt ask for. The UI is based on an ancient way of programing a printer. If you want a friendly UI you should select the more expensive printers they make. Who knew? Then you might get somewhere without getting out the user manual every time you want to do a print job. I am pleased by the companies attempt to make the ink cheaper to use, but the sacrifice of an easier interface does not make up for it.

This printer was great for the first month, then network connectivity problems began. As it stands, we constantly have to delete and reinstall the printer on each machine or it wont be detected properly. Even when set up through a direct network, it still doesnt function. Highly recommend you consider something else unless you want a very expensive paper weight.
