MUST READ PRINTER GREY MARKET - Purchased from Abes Electronics on Amazon, shipped by Amazon, I called Epson to inquire about the warranty, it turns out this machine is Grey Market and should only be sold outside the United States, Epson informed me there is no warranty on this printer, additionally the 300.00 rebate was not valid as well, with regards to Epson printers, they have performed for me.

I purchased this printer with the understanding that I would receive the rebate and of course, get the printer quickly for photo work. I received the printer quickly although the printer is a "grey market" version and is not qualified for a rebate $300 nor will it qualify for a warranty. It is described on the website to come with an EPSON AMERICA warranty. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED IN AMAZON! I am a long time customer of AMAZON but the experience I had after I received the printer is absolutely the most DISGUSTING and DISRESPECTFUL I have ever had. When I called them to make the aware of the GREY MARKET product, the agent I spoke with tried to deceive me and not only that, but actually told me they would put me on the phone with someone from EPSON to verify the warranty. The person they put on the phone could not possibly have worked for EPSON although they tried to represent that. The person said he was from EPSON Sales and was not even aware of the Support tools to verify warranty status. When I pressed him for where he was located, he finally admitted he was in the Philippines. No Customer should be treated to this level of disrespect nor accept lies. I expect someone in AMAZON CORPORATE To offer me an apology.

Called Epson to check the serial number to be sure this printer was authorized for sale in the United States and covered by Epsons warranty because I was burned by this on a prior order with another seller. Same problem again. Unauthorized for sale in the U.S. and warranty is void. Shipping it back today and giving up on buying this printer through Amazon. I tried twice, same outcome both times.

Weve gained so much with digital photography that we rarely notice what weve lost. "The negative is comparable to the composers score and the print to its performance," said Ansel Adams. In many ways digital photography is like writing music ... and then never playing it. We take zillions of photos...and then never print them. The Epson SureColor P800 is like having the Wrecking Crew show up, drag out all your music, and perform it! For perspective, I was a professional photographer for newspapers and magazines, primarily shooting B&W 35mm film (Tri-X). The photos printed were shot on a 24 megapixel Pentax K70 camera and Pentax Limited prime lenses. Color - I printed up to 17"x22" on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper and Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster. The results were nothing short of breathtaking. The colors are realistic, but with great pop. The famous Pentax Limited bokeh looks simply gorgeous, whether with landscapes or portraits. Just frame them and hang them in a gallery. B&W - I printed up to 17"x22" on Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster. In my pro days I did a lot of wet dark room printing. I still have Ilfobrom Gallerie archival prints on my walls from those days. And, to be blunt, Ive always hated ink-jet B&W prints. They always looked...off to me. Im happy to say that B&W prints from the Epson P800 are every bit as good as the best wet dark room work. The blacks are rich and heavy and good enough to eat. The whites are clean and strong. And the resolution of this printer is staggering. Whether you are a pro, or just enjoying the great hobby of photography, printing with the Epson SureColor P800 will make you a better photographer.

Ive had this product since August of last year. I have made about 100 nice prints. Then it broke. I called customer support about error code oX1531 and they said its a hardware issue. I gave them the serial number and they said the product was sold outside the United States, and so the warranty is void. So now I have a $1,200 boat anchor.

Im a photographer who wants to sell fine art prints of my photography, and I bought this printer about six weeks ago. I couldnt be happier with it. The color prints look amazing, and the black and white have deep rich blacks and bright whites. I purchased the optional roll paper adapter, and a roll of 17"x100 Epson fine art matte paper which has a shelf life of over 100 years! I photograph panoramas of 17"x48", and I needed a printer capable of highly detailed images at that size. This printer is the only one on the market that does everything that I need, and I couldnt be happier.

I have mixed feelings about this printer. It does not print red colors properly - they come out muddy. I returned my original purchase for a replacement, which has the same problem. After spending most of an afternoon talking to an Epson representative and testing various methods of printing, his advice was that I stop printing through Photoshop and find a different printing program. This has not worked either. So now Im spending much extra time and using extra paper and ink running off test prints of an image until I find it satisfactory for printing full size. The finished product is better than what my Stylus Pro used to be and my work is selling better as a result, but that extra work and expense should not be necessary.

I bought a P800 in early September 2015 to replace my five-year-old 3880 that had developed the infamous black ink printhead failure due to periodic changing between the photo black and matte black ink cartridges. Apparently this is a very mechanical procedure that shortens the life of the printer if used frequently. So I was very pleased to see that the P800 has a menu item that disables the automatic swapping of PK and MK inks – I won’t ever be changing the black inks on this printer! I print from Photoshop CS6 on an iMac running OS 10.11. The printer is connected via USB. I seldom print other than 8.5x11 single sheets using the top feeder. My primary papers are Harman Gloss Baryta for all B&W and some color prints, and Epson Luster for most color. With the 3880 I had Photoshop manage color and used either the Epson profiles or profiles supplied by the paper maker. For B&W prints I used the Advanced B&W Photo setting. With the P800, I’ve done numerous comparisons between letting Photoshop manage color and letting the printer manage color and I’ve seen little to no difference in the prints. So I now just let the printer manage color since that also simplifies using the Advanced B&W Photo feature and I don’t have to bother with profiles. I’ve gotten excellent color and B&W prints with both printers and wouldn’t have bought the P800 if my 3880 still worked. However, most reviewers have commented that the blacks are a little better with the P800 and I agree. Since about half my prints are B&W, even a small increase in quality is noticed. The P800 is my only printer, so I also use it for printing text on office paper. The photo black ink works fine for this. Although a 17” printer is overkill for the size prints I make, I bought the P800 for it’s superb print quality, especially with B&W photos, and its economical ink cartridges. I’ve been using the printer heavily for 2.5 months and even with the lower-capacity “starter” ink cartridges that come with the printer I still have a fair amount of ink left.

After owning a 7900 and a P9000 I didnt expect much from this printer. I was completely wrong. The color and quality are amazing! From metallic to glossy to thick fine art papers the printer hasnt flinched. Printed 100 8.5x11 and 50 13x19 prints and Im still using my starter set of inks. Its an excellent choice for anything under 16x20. I plan to purchase the roll holder for 16x24 and 16x32.

Never left the box. The serial number indicates my printer was not intended to be sold in the United States and as such, no warranty is offered. Amazon offered to sell me a protection plan, but I’m a bit sour at the moment. Calls to Amazon were a chore; First call, the CSR tried to sell me a protection plan. Second call tried to sell me on the idea everything on Amazon has a 1 year warranty. Third call offered a 10 percent discount. “just give me my money back”. This is nuts...
