Summary: 3/5 stars other than a visually pleasing form-factor with a brand-name sound system the software features for this device cripples the home theater user experience. The out-of-box: 5/5 stars. The product box was surrounded by an airpad wrap giving it ample protection during shipping. It was shrink wrapped and upon opening you are greeted by your new H2. The H2 is nestled between more foam padding and the accessories - power cable, adapter, and remote - are found in the bottom compartment. Plugging-in is intuitive and setup is Apple-esque with on screen step-by-step instructions. The Xgimi Hardware: 4/5 stars. The hardware looks very premium and minimalist. If youre an Apple-minded customer this will fit right in with your decor. Unlike Apples robust aluminium unibody this device is primarily a plastic build. A very thin aluminium ventilation grill surrounds the front and two sides of the device. I personally dont like how thin the aluminium grill is, as it seems prone to dents should you ever mishandle this device. On top of the device there are buttons for power and various modes, with a novel touch-slide volume adjustment bar that runs the devices width. These didnt impress meas they would go untouched in a mounted use-case. On the bottom is were youll find the adjustable legs, a 1/4inch screw for mounting, and the harman-kardon speaker. The Xgimi UX: 1/5 stars. I was very disappointed to go from a sleek on-boarding experience to a relatively lack-luster home screen. For me this really made the product experience feel cheap for an US$899 projector. It felt like going from an Apple product to Android (the device runs Android 6.0). It isnt a stock Android TV experience its Xgimis very scaled back and limited version which makes it worse. The device comes pre-installed with YouTube, Web-browsing, and a very restricted App/Play Store called Aptoide. In Aptoide you can install streaming services like Netflix, hulu etc, thats it. I felt like I experienced everything the software could offer in 5 mins which made me feel bad about the purchase. The Xgimi remote: 2/5 stars. Again Apple-esque design with poor choice of button mapping and software functionality. This is a fairly simple device so Ill focus on its shortcomings - cannot distinguish buttons in the dark, the air-mouse button is too close to the power button and too far away from the OK/select button, and the air-mouse mode times out after 60 seconds requiring constant re-activation. Overall its hard to learn to use, hard to use, and functionality is limited. The Xgimi picture quality: 4/5 stars. First of all this is not a true 4K projector, it uses pixel shifting to achieve a "Faux-K" result for 4K content. Saying this, the picture quality tied with the 1350 ANSI lumens projected is good and comparable to some high-end projectors Ive owned. The advanced keystone correction was the only useful way to adjust for ceiling, angles, and screen-sizes. I felt the contrast and color saturation lacking on the Xgimi projector. The motion compensation feature was a welcome surprise as it made action-shots seem very clear. Xgimi software updates: 3/5 stars. I went through 2 updates since purchasing this device, and I hope the trend continues. The first was to v1.2.1 and the latest to 1.3.3. However the updates were not anything special and offered minor improvements. v1.3.3 actually improved the launcher experience to look more like a stock Android TV launcher, and added Faux-K support for YouTube. I feel future updates should focus on improving the user experience for the device and providing fully fledged smart TV experience. That is, treat it like a smartphone and allow users to download content via their regions Play Store. Overall 3/5 stars. This is a relatively expensive box that has software limitations that would prevent me using it natively for all my media needs. There are some guides out there where users installed the Play Store and other apps with varying levels of success. Until the software for this device is improved I would hesitate to recommend this product, and advise that you use an Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, or Google Chromecast in conjunction for a better experience. Attached a picture showing my projector on a Xgimi floor stand, projecting onto a white wall 3m/10ft away in daylight. Average to good result. Ive since found out there is an H2 Aurora with full glass lens-kit and 1500 ansi lumen output that would perform better. I do not know why Xgimi would sell this H2 Global without that technology.

I read the two negatives comments, respectable but I am totally impressed withthe piece of technology, probably not suitable for someone without IT knowledge, I had problems with the phone mirroring but once I found how to do it (using the mobile app) I was impressed, not to mention this projector is capable of reading .mkv and avi files natively (no external app needed) and those are the only ones I tested and it also dsicovered my personal Cloud all on its own!! I am i love with this hardware, my daugther 6 year-old is amazed it has brought the family to the living room again to enjoy a completely awesome TV experience (136" image projected to the wall). And excuse me but the keystone correction is a life saving, 4 corners, horizontal, vertical, and at the same distance you can if you need shrink the image based on you environment needs. The only point I give to the other negative comment is the lack of a support phone number/email/website in case of a problem, I am not sure if we should contact the vendor on Amazon if we need to. I cant recommend this projector enough, is my dream come true.

I was really impressed with the older version H1, was very excited when I saw H2 specs. The projector picture quality is amazing for a product in sub $1K price range. The product Hardware is well made, good packaging, no User manual though. The problem I faced with my unit was it was not starting properly. 4 out of 5 attempts the projector was shutting down from the initial start-up message screen. Very frustrating! Assuming I got a faulty unit, I sent my unit back to Amazon and ordered it again, unfortunately same problem with 2nd unit as well. Not sure whether I was 2nd time unlucky, I do see some other users on internet complaining of same issue. I personally believe its to do with the software, cant confirm. Tried software online upgrade, Factory reset, didnt resolve the issue. Support from China wanted the Unit to be shipped to them for further troubleshooting, not a very practical option. Ultimately I gave up on this very promising product and replaced it with a competing product from LG.

This is a really nice projector with awesome image quality and features! I also found the auto focus to work quite well, so setup is quick. The remote is also quite nice with the mouse pointer feature. I also found the speaker to be quite good. Of course, for big screen movie night better get a proper sound system :D. It also has a game mode which reduce lag There is however some few points to note: it does not come with play store but rather aptiode to install apps. Even though it has youtube and can install netflix, it does not look like the latest version (a minor issue for me since i connect my ps4). You can hear the fan in a quiet room but can easily be covered with sound.

Update review ; Good thing is Amazon send me a new one. I absolutely love it. Still don’t like 1/4 screw hook.. always worried about it will fail.... But the projector is amazing!! And whoever said it don’t have menu.. I am so confused . When you power on... the lady instructed you to pair the remote is English for sure.. And I do like manual keystone . The cheaper version of projector need let the projector at the right spot. But this one. Totally no need. Overall love it! I really frustrate. The image of the projector is amazing, so far is best image quality I have. but just can not screw with its own ceiling mount... more worse right now.. I try to power on.... its not power on anymore. Which is very frustrated. On the phone call with the expert from Amazon right now. Hope can have some good solution. I just got it in few days .

The appeal of this projector to me is largely the compact size, very capable built-in speakers, and LED light engine (meaning long life, lower heat, and less maintenance than a bulb). There are some cheaper options if you want a fixed installation projector, but the feature set of the H2 makes it (IMO) the best portable 1080p projector for taking to parties, family gatherings, etc. I picked up a collapsible photography backdrop frame and lycra stretch screen around the same time, and along with a camera tripod (the H2 has a standard tripod mount threading on the bottom) I have a completely portable setup. The 3rd and 4th pictures above show the VRV app running on a Shield TV connected to the H2 (as you can see on the right of the 3rd image its still light out, but the blinds are closed), with the 4th picture showing rear projection on the lycra screen. The first two pictures are just projection on a plain white wall. Now, nothing is perfect and the shortcomings of the H2 for my uses are really in the built-in Android OS. As with a lot of Android devices from smaller brands the H2 isnt certified for the DRM used by major streaming apps like newer versions of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc. and as a result if you can get them to run youre likely to be restricted to lower video quality. Similarly its not Google Play certified (it comes with the Aptoide store installed on the international version, though Ive heard the domestic Chinese version has a different store and selection of apps). While not ideal, this can easily be worked around with an external video source, whether thats an Android TV box like the Shield TV, a Roku, Fire TV, or whatever you prefer. Sure, its something else to carry but most streaming devices are very compact these days. You could also just mirror your phones screen to the H2, but I havent tested that extensively myself. The built-in Android device is still nice to have even in its current state, and XGIMI has stated theyre working on Google Play certification though I cant say if that will happen or if it applies to the H2 or just upcoming products. With the built-in OS you can watch YouTube, run Kodi, browse the web, etc., and the international remote can function as an air mouse to facilitate that. Im sure some people will be satisfied with just the built-in OS but my main use cases are games (H2, screen, and Nintendo Switch is a very portable combination) and using the H2 with an external streaming video source, so I havent really pushed the limits of whats capable with the built-in Android functionality. One final quick note about games: the H2 doesnt have the lowest input lag available on projectors, but if you set the picture mode to "Game" it feels pretty decent. Definitely good enough for having fun with friends and family, but if youre looking for the absolute lowest input latency (delay between the video source sending a frame over HDMI and that image being displayed) you arent going to get that on the H2. For my uses, trading a couple frames of input latency for the portability makes sense.

Im not sure why this doesnt have more 5 star reviews. - Great picture (very sharp and clear with good color) - Great brightness (I can watch TV with a light on) - Great Sound quality (sound at half the maximum volume is very loud)... Harmon Kardon speakers says it all... - Small and compact (I have it sitting on top a bookshelf and its perfect) - Every input you need in the back (USB, HDMI 2x, ect...)

Ive had the XGIMI H2 for almost a month now and I absolutely love it! This is my review of the Global Version on Firmware 1.33 which is the latest at the time of this review. Short version: Absolutely recommended. Great picture quality and sound. Good for portability. Only let down is that you cant get paid streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) to play in HD using the built-in software. You can use a Roku, Fire Stick, Mi Box or Chromecast to overcome this. Full Review: Build Quality: 9/10 This thing looks amazing and feels like a premium product. My score here is based on the look and feel of the projector and accessories but not the durability as I havent had it for that long. The remote is plastic and only the power button is backlit. It doesnt feel cheap by any means but it feels less premium than the projector itself. Picture Quality: 10/10 This projector looks amazing in total darkness and with ambient lights. The colors are crisp and contrast looks great. I have an LG PW600G an, LG Full HD Cinema 3D 55 inch TV and an LG 4K UHD Smart TV. This projector is blows the PW600G out of the water (obviously) and is very comparable to the TVs in total darkness. Contrast takes a slight hi with ambient lighting but is still perfectly watchable. With all lights on or direct sunlight the picture is still visible but (as with most other projectors) this is far from an ideal scenario and a TV will always win. 3D: (10/10) This projector does 3D! All other projectors Ive seen needed a piece of PC software (NVidia 3D Vision or similar) to display Bluray 3D content but the XGIMI H2 just does 3D like a traditional 3D TV. You can play Side By Side and Top/Down 3D files and it also does 2D to 3D conversion (not as good as native 3D files obviously) and vice versa. You do need DLP Link 3D glasses (available from XGIMI and other retailers) to watch 3D. I tried it with the Firestorm LT 3D glasses and I was surprised at how well it worked and how easy it was to watch 3D compared to other projectors. Definitely, a huge pro for me as I am one of the few people left who love watching 3D content at home. Sound: 9/10 The H2 is equipped with Harman/Kardon speakers and it shows. While this wont replace a full surround sound setup, it is great for using the projector on the go or if you dont have a speaker setup. Sound volume using the built-in video player can be low with some files but I downloaded VLC player and that solved the problem. You can also hook up external speakers via AUX, Optical Out, HDMI or Bluetooth. Ive heard there is a delay when connecting via Bluetooth and I havent tried that so I cant say. Gaming: 10/10 I am an avid gamer and Ive tried the projector with my Alienware PC and PS4. I havent noticed any ghosting with fast paced games and virtually no input lag with fighting games (Street Fighter V, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, MAME Arcade games, PCSX2) or other action games (Read Dead Redemption 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Fortnite) It wont beat a gaming monitor but it is great for normal gaming scenarios. Software: 7/10 While I find the interface very nice and fast to navigate, there are some problems with the software that keep this from being a great Smart Projector. First, the remote control has a great air-mouse functionality that turns off if left unused for like 10 seconds and has to be turned on with a button press with no way to keep it always on. Second, XGIMI did not certify the H2 for Widevine DRM. This means you can not watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or any other streaming service that uses DRM in Full HD. You will need an external certified device (Roku, Fire Stick, Mi Box, Chromecast or similar) to watch your paid content in HD. Youtube does not suffer from this problem. Considering Widevine L1 certification is free, I think XGIMI needs to get this process done. Third, while the projector runs on Android, it does NOT come with Google Play store or services. There are ways to install them but the store is buggy and doesnt let you search for apps to install. Side-loading apps requires that you rename APK files to .apk1 and not all apps work. For example, I had to try different versions of the Netflix app until I found one that worked and let me stream shows. Some users got Kodi to install and work but it did not work for me and I am what you would call a very tech-savvy person. XGIMI says they are working on making the experience better and should be releasing a major software update soon but it remains to be seen what problems that would solve. Verdict: 9/10 I took a calculated risk when buying this projector and I am so happy that I did. the picture, contrast and sound are much better than I imagined even after watching countless online video reviews. XGIMI has an official facebook page for support and they seem to be very active but I dont know if their support (if I need it) will be as good as other brand names. The only improvement that is needed in my opinion is more support for Google Play Services and Apps.

Install Flash Player i dont normally leave reviews, but after using xgimi H2 projector i decided to leave a review, i have been using this projector for about 5 months now (purchased in end September),originally i decided to get H1 , but H2 was about to come out so i decided to wait and i bought it as soon as xgimi released the international version.i have to say with 1350 ANSI lumens its brightest of all LED projectors i have owned in the past, you can see it in day light as well, although black will not be as good as in dark. but for ambient lighting or room where you can control the lights its picture quality is really good, see the pictures, i hardly notice any fan noise at all, although i sometimes hear lens re-positioning due to heat, hope it will not cause any issue sin long run. Its using harmon kardon speaker inside, which is really loud and has awsum sound quality, and you can also feel the bass which is lacking in other projectors on the market. over all its a good purchase, little expensive but looking at PQ im happy i made the correct decision.
