After I got it set up, I put in the region-B movie I wanted to see, and I got the same"cant play this" message I got on my other player! I read the manual which said nothing about regions and I was disappointed. Then, when I was gathering everything to put back into the box, I saw an extra piece of paper in the box which was the instructions for using the multi-region option! After I read the instructions, they were very clear and the player worked perfectly and I was able to watch the movie. So, the player works as advertised, but only if you follow the directions on the extra piece of paper!

I ordered an S1500RF that is advertised very clearly as a 110-240v unit. What I got was a BDP-S1500 with a sticker over the model number indicating it was "region free 110-240 dual voltage". The unit had an after-market "modification" with a 90 day warranty and a plug in adaptor that was clearly ONLY playable in a 110v environment. Included was a photocopied one page sheet of instructions. Given that a BDP-S1500 is normally about $85, the company distributing this thing is charging an additional $75 to unlock it. They should be advertising a "modified" BDP-S1500, NOT a S1500RF. I was planning on bringing the unit with me to Europe, but given the limitations of the plug-in adaptor, I cannot. Buyer beware.

I got BDP-S1700. It came without a shipping box. All the shipping labels are applied to the original box. It does not work with 220V as advertised. The labeling on the box clearly says so. It does not play any of my DVD disks (even the ones without zone restriction) complaining the color system (PAL?) is not supported by the player.

I purchased a Zone B Blu Ray DVD and attempted to play it in the purchased Sony Multi Zone Region Free Blu Ray Player - PAL/NTSC Playback that was listed on Amazon. However, I received an error message and was unable to play the DVD, even after updating the firmware, as the instructions suggested. Please also note, this DVD player does not have Bluetooth, and must be connected to a router in order to access the internet. Im pretty disappointed with this player, but Id like to try another DVD before taking any other action.

I was looking for a multi-region/region free Blu-Ray/DVD player. Ever since we went abroad and purchased Blu-Rays and DVDs from other regions, I needed a way to play all the new movies that we have purchased. I did purchase a Blu-Ray player hoping that it was programmable or can change regions as required, but it does not work that way. You will only be able to purchase a Blu-Ray/DVD player for the region you are in at the retail stores. So I went online to search for a multi-region/region free player, I did a few searches and found that this was the latest model because I did not need the extras as in wi-fi connection or anything like that. This player works really well and does the job.

(This is an edited version of an earlier negative post after some confusion and misunderstanding on my part about the product and receipt of clarification from the company marketing this product.) The Sony S1500RF is a Sony BDP-S1500 which has been modified for "Region Free" operation by the various companies marketing this item. The sticker on the box indicates that the modified unit operates in Blu-Ray zones A/B/C and DVD regions 0 - 8 while the paperwork inside the box indicates Blu-Ray zones A/B/C and DVD regions 1 - 6. The "RF" designation is given to the S1500 in order to differentiate between a stock Sony S1500 and this modified version. The "Region Free" modification is done in hardware so updating the software should not result in loss of the "Region Free" capability. The Sony S1500RF was easy to set up and configuration for the internet was automatic.

A few weeks in and its working great! There is no detectable drop in visual quality/brightness that apparently comes with some region free players. Read the printed instruction paper the seller includes (not the original manufacturer instructions) right when you open the box! Will save a lot of head scratching. Ive come across only one oddity: the power button works to turn the player off, but not on. To turn it on, I have to use the "open disc tray" button. Not a big deal but a little funny.

I ordered this Blu Ray DVD Player Model BDP-S1500 Today 06 June, 2017 I received a Blu Ray DVD Player but not what was ordered. Instead I got a newer version BDP-S1700. One main factor I wish to state is this Device isnt worth $149.99 in fact it should cost no more than $99- for a Region free version. The Unit is very small and looks cheap. Also it didnt have Wifi so I couldnt watch Amazon Videos or YouTube. I returned this Player and will get a better one with all Regions A/ B/ C as well as Wifi. Wouldnt recommend this Sony at all.

I bought this to watch UK DVDs (region 2) and it works perfectly. It took less than 5 minutes to unpack and set up (it comes with an HDMI cable and the remote batteries are also included.) Both my parents and sister have the same model and also love it. Highly recommend! Update: I had some issues playing a UK Blu-ray DVD and contacted the company via the email on the enclosed paperwork. They were very responsive and solved my problem. In short, if you are having issues playing Blu-ray discs, first make sure the Quick Start menu is set to OFF. To play a Blu-ray disc, first remove all discs from the player and turn it off. This is important--turn the player OFF. Press the blue (or appropriate colored button) for region 2 and player should turn on. Insert Blu-ray disc and it should play.
