I know that 4K is the rage and streaming services are the goto for viewing movies, but I purchased my son a copy of Blue Planet II on BluRay and wanted to view it myself when I had a chance. Personally, I did not have a BluRay player so I bought a quickie intended for one use from Amazon. I have been pleasantly surprised by its performance and size. Just because the ad may say "Refurbished" doesnt mean that your getting junky yesterdays product. Im pleased with my purchase and stunned by this BluRays picture quality. Thank You.

Was all excited about this purchase. A Sony blue ray player for under $40. Got the unit in 1 day too! Unit looked great out of the box, like brand new. Packaged very nicely. So I hooked up hdmi to the TV, and connected the power cord. Family was all sitting down ready to watch a movie, but when I went to put the disc in the tray it refused to open. Green power light was on. Machine was making mechanical sounds. Kept hitting the button on the remote, and on the player itself, and nothing. Tried it over and over again, even manually opened the drop down door where I could see the tray, but it still wouldnt open. How do you have a "Certified Refurbished" unit when you cant even put in a dvd to test it?! Sending back today. Not sure if Ill ever try a refurb again. Very disappointed.

The refurbished player is so far so good. For the price and what I need it for, its perfect. Ill update the review end of summer to see how its holding up after some use. Purchased a second one. It, too, is great.

arrived defective. whoever refurbished it did a lousy job. the drive wouldnt read any disc. had to return it.

I really like this BluRay disc player. It works perfectly for playing my discs, but I have yet to get it to connect to the Internet. I really dont need that aspect though since I have the Fire Stick to do that.

Metal portion completely bent, fine whatever, plugged it in, the disc tray wouldnt come out, could audibly hear something rattle inside when I picked up the player. At this point, kind of a wash so I opened it up, inspected around the mother board and the tray, couldnt locate the rattle - ended up isolating it INSIDE the drive. opened that up, a rogue piece of plastic was inside. Inspection of the innards, couldnt determine what or where it came from, either way it was a chunk of a piece that didnt break off cleanly so I doubt I could put it back in place. Put the device back together, now the drive opened correctly. However, it doesnt play any discs at all. Avoid at all costs, complete waste of time. Company that refurbished it must have used a hammer.

So happy with this purchase. I wanted to cut the cord with the cable company and get a device that played DVDs and blu-ray. Super simple to set up with a simple remote that acts as a universal for the TV as well. Im thinking about buying another one.
