I very nearly returned this player after it wouldnt play Blu-ray discs at all. After reading reviews of this and other players for an hour and getting profoundly depressed over the poor quality of them all (in small but real percentages), I remembered that one review noted the player wouldnt play certain discs (4K I think) without an HDMI2 cable, and got "No signal from source" error messages - just like I got. I then got out the spiffy gold-plated connector HDMI cable that came with the player, unplugged my older cable, hooked up the new one, and presto! It works now. REALLY relieved I didnt have to go to the trouble of re-packing it, then trying to guess which one to roll the dice on. So: for not having an instruction manual and causing me several days of intense aggravation, 4 stars. Time will tell if it goes up or down from there, but for now, its working.

The Sony BDP-S6700 4K Upscaling 3D Streaming Blu-Ray Disc Player with Built-in WiFi is all one would expect from Sony. Well built, full of features and compact in design. Setup was a breeze and the upscaling 3D works great! 5+ stars. The remote is very logically laid out and even came with batteries! The other candy (HDMI cable, etc.) was fine, too, except the earbuds. You guys can save the 10 seconds and $0.80 you paid for the earbuds and just leave them out. One of the bud ends was broken off, while still in the BOX! How does something like that get missed? And, judging from the sound I got out of the left bud, they werent worth it, anyway. Thats the only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 overall rating. Buy the DVD player! Dont use the candy as a consideration.

SO far so good. Its really small. About a third the size of what DVD players used to be. Theres a problem with latency when using the bluetooth. Not sure if its the DVD or my head phones. Doesnt seem to upscale as they claim. But as long as its bluray, its a fantastic picture. I have a 4k TV but Ive yet to find a 4k disk to try in this new 4k player. I hope netflix starts carrying 4k disk - or red box. The trick theyre pulling now is to try and make 4k only available if you buy the disk or digital product. They wont even stream many 4k movies but rather try and get you to buy the digital version. 4k is off to a shaky start. The product is working just fine; however, I thought it was a 4k player...beware it is 4k upscaling...it wont play 4k Blu ray DVDs on our 4k TV.
