This is the third unit (Sony) in four years. The first lasted for three years. The second lasted for two months. This one is new but exhibiting problems straight out of the box, but is still operational (with adequate prayers and pleading). This machine hangs up and must be unplugged from time to time to reboot. Almost all commands from the remote control take 10 to 30 seconds to respond correctly. The unit has been updated per Sony. The worst part is: Every manufacturer that I researched has identical or similar issues! What is a poor fella to do? I honestly dont believe it is a purchase price issue because the first Blu Ray we bought for $50 at Walmart. The only way I recommend this player is "under protest".

Bought this DVD player because Netflix and Amazon Prime movie services kept pausing during playback, and I thought buying a newer model DVD player would help solve the situation. It did not. Regardless of using the wired or wireless connections (I tried both), our movies continued to pause during playback. Previously bought a brand new, top-line router, and had internet service provider out to check the download/upload speeds (all were working fabulously). Ended up buying an Amazon Fire TV device which solved the issue entirely, now HD movies stream with never a stutter or pause. Hooray!

As others have said it drops internet connection so you have to start over. That is very annoying. My major issue is that when I turn my TV on the DVD player turns on. I cant use any of the apps on my TV until I turn off the DVD player. Strange!! When I first had it hooked everything was great now I just leave it unplugged until I want to play a dvd. Another thing, if I move between apps on the TV the DVD player turns on again.
