This is my second Sony Blu-Ray player, and Ive had minimal issues with the first. However, there are two things this player does that drive me crazy. The first is its tendency to randomly not recognize the network occasionally where the only fix is to reset factory settings and reinstall the wireless. A PITA, but surmountable. The second is to stop at least once during every streamed show to say insufficient bandwidth and pause for anywhere between 10s and forever (until I reset after 10 min). I have fiber internet and am actually getting faster speeds than promised. This happens on no other devices. I saw the first problem in lots of online forums, but really havent seen the second problem much. I would return but ditched the box and it seems like too much of a hassle. Ill buy a fire stick or competitive player, I guess. Ive yet to watch an actual Blu-Ray disc, so thats why I gave it two stars. Im assuming that part works.

Its a very nice, compact little unit with a lot of capabilities. The remote has a "Netflix" button, which I like, because thats mostly why I bought it (along with wanting to watch Blu-Ray disks, of course). Ive been using it for a bit now, and while it plays DVDs fine, it more or less sucks for streaming Netflix. Whether its in normal or HD, movies and TV shows will randomly get really blurry and then clear up over and over. Its pretty bad. Sometimes it works fine through a whole movie, but other times its almost unwatchable. Ive tried the same shows and movies at the same time on the PC we used to use to watch Netflix, and its always just great when the PC is feeding the HD display, but when the Sony box is feeding it... bleah. I even upgraded my already fast internet service from 30Mbps to 50Mbps and it didnt make any difference in the video quality from this device. Ive tried both wired and wifi connections, etc. A lot of the times when Ive run the Netflix speed test on the Sony box, it comes back with 10Mbps, so Im not sure whats up with that. My guess is that the PC, having a faster processor and much more RAM available (32GB) it can buffer the data to make up for any slowdowns. Still, I have trouble believing that the Sony box doesnt have *some* capability in that area. TLDR: Its good for Blu-Ray disks, so Im keeping it, but it sucks for Netflix streaming, so Im going to try something else for that. Its too bad, because it would be handy not to have yet another device.
