I was looking for an inexpensive player to hook up to a ROKU smart TV. This refurbished unit fit the bill. Great picture with very easy setup. It is very limited regarding wireless channels (3), but again when connecting to a smart TV it was not an issue for me.

I paid too much, but I was desperate. I needed a Blu-Ray Player fast, and inexpensive, so I bought this player at Walmart for $65 (1/5/19). I agonized over the options, even checking at Best Buy. In the end, the Walmart price won me over, and I even splurged $6 for the extended warranty (2 years). I didnt quite understand it has only three apps for streaming (Netflix, YouTube & Vudu), but based on our needs, that should be enough (for now). It’s also a good introduction to using streaming apps on a TV. Set up was easy enough, though setting up WiFi was tedious via the remote (I have a long WiFi password, and entering it was a pain. It took me three tried before I got it right). But once I got it right, I was golden. If you have the YouTube app on your phone/tablet, and on the same network, signing in is a snap (and automatic – No need to enter your info, it’s done for you. Cool!). Vudu is pretty cool too. Tons of things to watch, though not very current. Vudu has many free options, though some are free with ads. You watch a short ad at the beginning, and for movies, during. The ads are short, but repetitive. There does not seem to be a free option for Netflix, though there is a free trail. YouTube and Vudu stream well over Wi-Fi, but we do have FiOS for Internet, so it’s fast. We have used the player for about a week now with no problems. I am happy with the buy. It’s a good option for a Blu-Ray (and DVD) player, with a few popular streaming apps, but there is no option to add apps, so keep that in mind. That’s the only reason I’m not going 5 stars. Also, no problems staying connected, but the player is only about 15 feet from our wireless router, with a nearly clear line of sight.
