Great picture. Good smart services like Netflix. It only gets one star because when you set it up, it forces you to agree to giving up your viewing and smart feature usage habits to third parties, in order to use the smart features. If you dont agree, you dont get to use the device you paid for!! A type of product ripoff. I purchased the device, it should be my decision if I want to share my usage data. It watches and monitors everything you watch. When you play a movie from the DVD or USB, it plays the first 5 to 30 minutes of the video while it sends data back to the mothership, if it then decides that the video you are playing may have some kind of copy protection through some bizarre calculation, it stops the movie from playing and displays a violation message on the screen and stops the movie. This is a serious violation of my privacy. Its known of their da#m business what I watch!

I purchased this player to go with my new Samsung UN65KS8000 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV . The image quality on 4K HDR DVDs is amazing. I am using AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cables for everything and my TV properly recognizes when HDR content is played on this player. The additional features like Samsung apps are okay, but they are a bit slow to open and run, so I am using the apps on my TV instead. The menu navigation on this player is slow to respond to clicks on the remote so it gets a bit frustrating to have such a state of the art player that feels antiquated because of how slow it responds to the remote. If you are going to use this primarily as a Blu-ray player, it is awesome. But if you will be using apps, buy a newer and faster player. On a side note, I purchased a used one here on Amazon and it still had someone elses Samsung account and e-mail address signed into it. I reset the player to defaults to make sure that this user was no longer associated with the device and so it was set up to my liking. Tip: if you are going to return something, always make sure you reset it to defaults first so your information is not compromised. :)

This is one of only three Blu Ray players that have the ability to read 4k movie discs (Phillips and Sony make one as well that also cost in the $200 to $300 range). 4k movie discs are now coming out in full force on new movies, with the exception of Disney the other major movie companies are putting them out regularly and to think only a few blu ray players can actually play them. This plays every type of disc there is CD,DVD, Blu Ray, DVRs, BluRay Recordable discs, 3DBluRays, and most importantly the UltraHD (4k) BluRays. It does however require a HDMI (catagory 2) cable to be able to get the 4k discs to display on the tv screen, so if you have not baught a HDMI cable in the last few years you may have to spend about $10 for an updated cable. An old HDMI will still work on the player for every other discs you are playing on the machine but the 4K discs.

I purchased this player on November 25 of last year. That is only seven months ago and the player is starting to freeze while watching a movie and no mater what I do it wont unfreeze. This has happened four times over the last month. This is not acceptable! I wouldnt recommend anyone buying this player. This has happened on brand new 4K as well as Blu-Ray disks. Am going to look for a more reliable player!! Just looked at the warranty and this is what it says." SAMSUNG does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the product". Would you want a player that isnt error free? I dont!!!

Dont buy this. I bought mine in February of this year and already it stopped working. Disc is stuck inside, wont eject, no buttons do anything. Called Samsung and spoke to someone who barely spoke English. They sent me a return label to send it in for repair. Really? I shell out all that money for a NEW 4K blu ray player and now I have to send it back and get a repaired one. They really should just replace it.

I would consider myself to be a pretty big Samsung fan. All 4 of my televisions right now are Samsung and 2 of them are 4K sets. You could imagine my excitement when I saw that this company was ushering in the first wave of UHD bluray players and I could not wait to check out what native 4K would look like on my nice 65" 4K TV. My previous Samsung BD-F7500 player was a nice heavy metal brick and felt very well made, so you can imagine how it felt to open the box and feel how cheap and plastic this one was in comparison. Visually there is nothing to write home about with this one other than it has Samsungs weird curved design that they seem to love. No display on the outside other than a few lights to let you know when the player is busy or turned on/off. Theres a little plastic tab that hides the USB connector in the front which feels pretty cheap as well. The remote is god awful but thankfully my previous players remote works perfectly with this player and I avoided the headache of dealing with that. The buttons on the player are all touch sensitive and have basic functions but most people will be stuck using that terrible remote unless they have an older remote like I did. It also didnt come with a HDMI cable let alone one that was HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, or High speed which is something that you definitely want when you are trying to get the most out of your 4K equipment. I knew it didnt have one beforehand and picking one up is cheap enough so I was prepared for that. Overall I think I paid over $300 for this and it neither looked nor felt like a premium product. Now I cant say that this player didnt do what I bought it for. My growing UHD disc collection worked great without exception. I re-purchased a few films that I had already owned on regular bluray to get a comparison on the video quality and I can definitely notice a difference. The upscaling on this player failed to impress (regular DVDs are hideous on this thing to me) but my 4K content looked great and thats what I wanted. So they get a few stars for the fact that they impressed me by showing me what 4K can really do in the visual department. Now here comes the hard part. My player which is about a year and a half old is starting to show some troubling signs. It still looks great on my TV and it works well for the most part but after using it for a decent amount of time I noticed how slow it loads at times and loud it can get. Ive had it lock up on me a few times which required me to pull the plug for a few seconds and plug it back in. Once in a blue it will decide to just open the disc tray and it is behind a piece of tempered glass in my stand so it will just push itself all the way back into its cubby hole. Want to eject the disc? Heres a fun game that wasnt listed anywhere in the manual. Make sure you are quick because sometimes it will decide to close the tray while you are removing a disc. Even better, sometimes you will remove the disc fine but when you insert a new one it will close on it with a nice satisfying crunch. Thankfully the few times I was too slow the disc survived with minimal damage and seems to still work. Sometimes the disc tray likes to play peekaboo with my discs and will eject then immediately close itself back up. Ive had it fail to read a few discs that had a few little particles of dust or dirt on it. A quick little wipe with a microfiber cloth and it worked but I was surprised by how such a small bit of dust at times could make it not want to read. Anyway, as I said in the beginning of my review I would consider myself to be a pretty big Samsung fan. However their newer models of UHD players does not include 3D bluray playback (yes, I know its a dying format but Id still like to watch the 3D films I own should the mood strike me) which has unfortunately made me look in another direction for what I wanted. I am currently waiting for its replacement to arrive and have decided to go balls out with the Oppo UDP-203 which looks to be an upgrade in every single way other than it lacking any apps for streaming. I dont need that anyway since Ive got built in apps on my TV as well as an Roku Ultra 4K streaming device. Maybe one day Samsung will decide to put out a UHD player that looks and performs like a premium product. Until then Ill stick with their TVs but thats about it.

I bought it primarily to be a Smart TV interface to show web content on my big screen, and it is useless for that, even though it is brand new out of the box. The built in web browser is built around a very old version of Chrome, and it no longer accesses 95% of web sites, and does not show graphics on ANY website I have tried. I get error messages from Google Chrome telling me to update it, but this is not possible due to the "closed box" software in the unit. Samsung said there was no way to update their browser, ever, (they will not fix it in a firmware update, and I have the latest update) and that I would just have to buy a newer model Blu Ray player (the unit I got was new in box, warrantied, from the last model before the current one) if I wanted a Smart TV that would actually work. Of course, by next year this years model will most likely not work either, so far as the Apps built into it, and so they have you on a conveyor belt to buy a new BluRay player each year. LAME. I had an all Samsung household up to now, but I will never again buy a Samsung product.

This is an amazing player. I was looking for something a little more future-proof than my old Samsung 3D player, while still allowing me to use the other equipment that I currently have, and this fit the bill. I still have quite an inventory of 3D Blu-rays, but am in the process of converting my collection to 4K UHD, this player fit my needs perfectly. Its a great 3D player, as good as my old Panasonic player, but gives me the capability of playing UHD when I get to the point of swapping my LG OLED TV for a 4K unit (still a ways in the future, Im afraid -- not going to dump my investment in the LG quite yet). This is the only player I found that could play both 3D and UHD (although I guess there could be others on the market, but doubtful), so definitely worth the premium price over the majority of UHD players. Highly recommended.

If you have a Samsung TV and soundbar, may as well stick with them and get a 4K blu-ray too, as one remote controls everything and the TV knows when you turn on the player. This one loads the disks really fast (a huge problem with the first couple of Blu-ray players I owned) and comes packed with smart TV options (apps) just in case your TV doesnt have them. So far, I am delighted with this home entertainment set up. I will have to see about longevity though, as one Samsung receiver (for home theater) I have, has dropped two of its five HDMI inputs for some reason.

Good product. Works well. But beware, it is meant to work with other Samsung products. If you have a Samsung TV this product will control that as well, unless you turn off the CEC-HDMI, which comes enabled from the factory. This is meant to control all products with 1 remote. It is great if you use your TV sound and want the TV to be the HUB. However, if you use a home theater setup or different model components, this setting could be a nuisance. 1 other issue... the remote is VERY small. If you have big fingers (as I do) it can be cumbersome to use. I would have given 5 stars if not for these 2 issues. Other than that, the 4k is amazing and meant to be used only with a 4k TV. You are wasting your money if you buy this unit without having a 4k TV.
