Player itself works well. Throw away the cheap crappy hdmi cable. Caused connection issues (occasional multiple images, lines, and connection problems). Then had continuous problems when connecting to new TV with deep color where it didnt show image, just static. After some swapping of inputs and connections pinpointed it to the hdmi cable that was sent. Its very thin and either garbage or fragile and broke easily. I was even getting invalid region message with a bluray although other blurays with the same region worked. After swapping cable the zone error message went away.

The player finally is Dolby Vision compatible and it also is a Region Free player. So by having all the options to play DVDs, Blu rays on 2d and 3d and also 4k UHD discs. Im very pleased with the player, despite the price and the waiting, the wait has been worth it. I also want to recommed Multisystem-Electronics for their open and responsible technical support. Thanks.

Greetings, The purpose of this review is to affirm its quality, commend the seller for their excellent service, and give advice on EXACTLY how you change Blu-Ray Regions since it is nowhere in the 61 pg. LG on-line manual and is my only fault and is why LG only gets a 4-Stars for User Interface. 1. I bought this from 220-Electronics, a long established firm in Illinois. They shipped me a really quality product in good packaging, fast shipment, and responded within hours (normal business hours) if I had questions. Plus, they did not blow me off to LG, the maker, but instead found my answers for me and were very patient. Buy from them! I am not compensated, I just believe what Im saying. 2. How to Change Blu-Ray Regions to A, B, or C. First, 220-Electronics included a print out of this in the box, but others might not buy from them so I will detail it for those of you who get it elsewhere. Note that DVD Regions are hard-coded into the player and so you should not need to do anything other than load the disc. It should proceeed automatically. Blu-Ray Region Change involves a couple steps that LG didnt make intuitive at all. But I have verified this myself with the "Studiocanal" print of a Japanese Disc in 4k of "RAN." So originally JP - reg.A, to FR - reg. B. - A good test. The disc was Reg. B and my player arrived Reg. A, meaning USA in this case, as default. To change Blu-Ray Regions: First, turn on the player and open the drawer using the eject button on the remote. Second, with it like as above, press remote button "1" for A, "2" for B, or "3" for C. The player will reboot and return to the Home Screen. Then load the disc of the region selected and go as normally from there. There will be no message flashed at you. If you have trouble, just repeat. Note the little green on-light on the front of the player will flash with any button push of any kind wherever you do so. That lets you know it received the instruction for play, region change, eject, or whatever. So far, it seems to reset to Reg. A when player is turned off but your mileage may vary. Thats really all there is to it! Note also: I only use commercial discs when in a non-usa region so thats all I can attest to. But it plays my home-burnt DVDs of downloads fine. Those are DVD Reg. 1, of course. 3. This player is Awesome! I cant recommend it highly enough. Picture quality, picture & sound through-put and settings are all topnotch. It is reliable and quiet and it gets a LOT of use! Im not really a Smart TV guy so I dont use those features, but instead play discs on this thing and work it like a mule. Owned it 5 months now. I did have some teething problems at first with 4k but that turned out to be the LG C8 TVs fault as I had it set to HDMI Auto instead detailing which exact HDMI port. Frustrating at first! But ultimately an easy fix and it was on the TV side, not the player side. It seems devices often do whats called a "handshake" to assure functionality but if both are trying to find each other than that handshake can actually cause freeze-ups or sound loss ex cetera. But again, that is for the TV and not this player. 1st time use does require a player set-up (does not ask Region, BTW), but its mostly routine unless you are after Smart TV fuctions. Then you might want to do that through the monitor/TV unless you plan to control through your player. It is your choice and is a non-issue if the real reason you are buying this is to play discs. Another IMPORTANT thing to mention is 4K abilities. Both the LG player & the LG C8 TV & the Samsung HW-N850 Harmon-Kardon soundbar I have were all deliberately chosen for their ability to display (picture) or play(sound) HDR, HDR 10, Dolby Vision, DTS:X, and Dolby Atmos. This player handles ALL of them superbly as evidenced by soundbar and monitor quality. Pictures are stunning! Dolby Vision is especially impressive! A soundbar is not a home theatre, but it is a excellent and possibly the best soundbar out there - at least I think so. Full pass-through with zero hiccups once proper set-up is worked out. And I say worked-out because some decisions are based on your asthetics and take time to pimp up just right. Finally, both standard Blu-Rays & DVDs all work without a hitch. The bottom line is both the player and the company that sold it have been hugely satisfying for me - I hope for you as well. Enjoy!

(1.) Purchased mainly for its UHD format feature in addition to "All Region Formats". Hookup is simple. Plug power cord into my wall outlet and the HDMI cable into the HDMI receptacle of my LG UHD TV. Nothing else for me to do. "No Signal" message was all I could get. The unit was returned and a replacement sent. The second unit did produce a signal and work for a while. After a couple weeks of use it began dropping signals in the middle of a movie. Opening the disc tray and reloading the disc seemed to reestablish a signal connection. But what a hassle that is trying to relocate your place in the movie! This progressively got worse and worse. (2.) Another flaw noticed is that the disc tray frequently does not respond to the remote load button and has to be manually assisted by hand. (3.) Assuming the unit would work flawlessly as designed, there is no "Mute" button on the remote. Why is such an elaborate product missing this simple convenience ? After about three months toleration of these annoyances I went back to my old Sony unit that has work flawlessly for years (lacking only the UHD format capability). UHD really is not that great an enhancement to give up. Consistent performance is. Bad Purchase!

It is multi-region, and I did not even have to do a system update. No problem so far.

Great all region player, better picture quality than my OPPO BDP-103 player. Easy region switching for Blu-ray Discs and automatic changing for DVD.

The unit after 6 months of use has developed such a loud hum from the dvd play mechanism that it is impossible to watch a dvd. Something is definitely loose in the player, and it does not appear that the unit can be opened.
