My brother and I ordered this as a last minute Christmas gift for our Mother. Her old DVD player didnt play Blu-ray and was possessed at times. My brother found this on Amazon and we ordered it. Let me first say, I always look at past customer reviews and at first was a bit scared. But after we set it up and put in her new Christmas present of John Wick Blu-ray, I must say that I think my brother and I will be fighting over it when she passes way from old age. It was very easy to set up. The sound and visuals were great! Adding the house WIFI and Netflix information was fine, just had to make sure your pretty much right in front of the unit and it picked it up with no problems. I am so happy with my brothers choice. You do need to get HDMI cords. I forgot to order them when I purchased it, but I just got them from Wally world. A little changing up of the cable box location and now we have a happy Mother. My brother gets the extra points this Christmas for making Moms Christmas special this year. I give him that!

Pro: gives 55" TV access to Netflix, Amazon, etc. Con: it Freezes and fails constantly. At first I thought it was a faulty box, had it replaced because it freezes and needs to be unplugged to restart it. The replacement is even worse. I thought maybe it was a poor connection to our router but it doesnt always lose connection. If you want to use this for anything more than playing blue ray or DVD, keep looking. Waste of money and pain in the ass to get up and unplug is 3 times before Netflix will get far enough to actually watch something.

Freezes every 20 minutes or so and I have to unplug it wait and plug it in again. I only got to see one movie.

I made the mistake of seeing the price tag of 40$ and instantly purchased since i needed a DVD/app/netflix machine for my sons room. I should have read the reviews first, because they are accurate in this case. The DVD player works, but freezes here and there. The DVD player aspect of the machine is worth the 40$ in my opinion and if youre purchasing this only for the DVD aspect, then 40$ is fair in my opinion. However, if youre looking for a DVD player + Netflix/Hulu machine, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. Instead, spend more for a better product. The applications freeze almost instantly once opening the app and entering the user interface. I have read other reviews to see if maybe my experience is unique, however per the reviews, my experience seems to be the norm.

I like the features of this LG DVD player but this item was refurbished and is still defective. It frequently needs to be reset by removing power because it freezes. It also does not work with the auto-detect features of my TV as my other players have.

Not as good as I thought it would be. It sometimes freezes and/or screen goes blank when you trying to give a command. When it goes blank or freezes, it wont even turn off unless u unplug the device. Definitely minimized the digital experience.

I have given a review about 1 week ago and was hoping to hear from the vendor, it really never worked the way any electronic should. My son put it in my bedroom and every time I use it, it freezes. I then have to unplug both plugs in back and start over again. I realize I purchased a refurbished and if I could have purchased a new one I would have. I dont want to say dont buy from this vendor Im sure it they didnt know but it only deserves 1 star.

DO NOT USE THIS FOR STREAMING!! I never tried the bluray player part of it, but the streaming part constantly bugged out, played less than digital quality content despite having more than enough bandwidth, and sometimes required a manual power reset because the whole unit stopped responding. Stay away from this product -- it may be worth it for blu ray playing, to that I have no opinion, but the entire streaming portion should be scrapped from the product.

Refurbished is not the same as brand new!! Blu ray player skips alot. The built in wifi adds to the convience, howrever it is slower to pick up the signal as compared to the same item ( also bought on amazon) that requires it be connected directly to internet box.

Took me 3 different HDMI cables before I could get it to work - apparently this model is very finicky about voltage across the HDMI cable. TV kept giving me a "no signal" message. It would work for a few seconds when first powered up, but if I tried to watch a disc, etc., it was almost like it would time out. Had to do some searching online to figure out what the problem was and finally got it sorted (mostly). It still does it sometimes and requires a restart of the TV and player. Once I get through some car repair expenses, I am probably going to put this one on Ebay and get a better device. 10/5/2016 - updated - reduced from 4 stars to 1. Last night I tried four different blu-ray discs. None of them would load. I also started getting the "no signal" message again. We dont have cable in the location where this player is being used - no outlet in the room and no way to get one there - so a reliable blu-ray player is a must. Opening a support ticket with the seller to return this one and buy one that has a better chance of working.
