So after hours of frustrating research online I figured out why my unit wouldnt play my Region B DVD. The DVD player was set on US! Heres how to fix this problem: Turn on the TV & DVD player. Make sure there is no DVD in the DVD Tray . This will take you to the LG Home Page. Now go on Settings. Go down to Others. From there go to Quick Start. Make sure its on Off. (The instructions that comes with the player states to do this. I didnt bother to really check if its really neccessary!) From Others scroll up to Lock. Go on Area Code. I typed in all Zeros for a password & hit ok. You will now see 2 boxes with US. Go on the box with the letter U & scroll thru the letters till you get to the letter O, hit enter. Go to next box containing S & do the same thing & then hit ok. Now the player is Region Free! Went back to Movies setting. Now with the Tray Closed & DVD Player On & No DVD in it. Pointing the LG Remote at the LG Blu Ray Player press 2 on the LG remote for a Zone B DVD. If you have a Zone A DVD press 1 on the LG remote. If you have Zone C DVD press 3 on the LG remote. Open the tray, pop in the DVD & it should now play! So far Ive only had the chance to play Region A & Region B DVDs & they both played beautifully! No one should have to go thru all this nonsense to get a Region Free DVD Player to work properly, especially with no instructions whatsoever & its why I took off 1 star I really should have taken off 2 stars for all the aggravation!! Other than all that crazyness the blu ray player plays beautifully same with the CDs!

It seems that most 3D movies are issued elsewhere instead of the USA (Region A). Because of this, I ordered this LG Player. Very simple setup. Plug it in and insert the HDMI cable. I have mine plugged in to a 3D 4K Receiver, with the one line going to the 3D 4K TV. All you have to do is find out what region the movie is and before you try to play the movie, open the drawer and put the disk in, press either 1,2 or 3 on the remote and "then" close the drawer. 1=Region A, 2=B and 3=C. The movie will be recognized. Very pleased with this player and well worth the price, which is very low.

This review is specific to playing discs with different regions other than region free. Changing regions is a stupid process. First of all, there isnt a menu on the player to do this. There was a one page sheet included that says you do it when you start up the player. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesnt. I bought a disc from a different region (not region free), and it wouldnt work no matter which region I changed it to (there are three - ABC or 123 depending on the terminology youre using at the time). I downloaded the manual from LGs website and there isnt a single mention in it about changing the region to play other region discs. If what youre looking for is to play discs from a different region, dont buy this player.

I bought this to play the new “Terminator 2 3D” Blu-ray, which has not been released in the U.S. but is available in the U.K. as a Region B disk (from Amazon UK). Even though I had read reviews saying that this disk doesnt work in the U.S., even on region-free players, I decided to buy this upgraded (by Bombay Electronics) LG BP-550 and hope it worked. It does! The picture and sound quality are as good as on my Region A Samsung. Since then Ive bought several more 3D Blu-rays which arent available at all in the U.S. (e.g., the newer Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm titles) or cost substantially more as imports, and they all work beautifully. I can only assume that those who bought the Region B titles and were unsuccessful playing them on region-free players in the U.S. had connected them to the internet, and their players automatically updated the firmware, which overwrote the upgrade to region-free. Just be on the safe side, I havent connected my player to the internet, since I already have all the internet apps I need (like Amazon Prime video) on my Samsung player. This is a great little player, measuring only 8” by 8”, but it has no front panel display, which makes it possible to pack so much electronics into a small space. The instruction sheet from Bombay Electronics thats packed with it describes how to switch regions for Blu-rays, which is simple and worked on my first try. Highly recommended!

Plays every disc Ive thrown at it so far. Its nice to have a unit that couldnt care less about the region nonsense the studios foist upon us. The player feels lightweight and construction quality isnt up to the standards of the very expensive players (think Oppo). Im also not a fan of the external "wall wart" power supply. The remote has good range and a decent layout. I havent tried using this player for streaming yet, as I have plenty of other options for that functionality.

Works as advertised! I have had to change the region code unexpectedly a few times, because I didnt pay attention to the region code when buying. If I did not have this player times like that would have been a waste of money or time. Now I never pay attention to region codes. The streaming services like Netflix work nice as well! Hulu works but does not have all the features I subscribed too, but it the only problem I noticed.

I opened the box and was greeted with a note from the company that modified this Blu Ray player (NOT LG) to be MultiZone Region/Code Free. The Amazon listing does not mention this feature is NOT OEM. [#FAIL] Ive had enough problems with after-market modifications--I never took the Blu Ray player out of the box. #WasteOfTime

This feedback supersedes my earlier review. The supplier just confirmed that when starting the player, select "2" for a BD for region B. Although there were further steps, just doing that allowed my region B disc to play. So, to sum up, the player does play multi-region DVD and also BD. It is small and easy to use and I do like it. Only region I did not give 5 stars is that the instructions could be better.

Works for me. Watch Region 2 with no problems (in USA). I dont have other region DVDs so I cannot comment, but have no reason to believe it would not act perfectly for them as well. Just follow the included instructions, easy. Box was sealed and looked factory fresh. Use 120v so cannot comment on 220v comments. I would recommend if you are looking for other regions viewing.

I have had this less than a month, already bought two blu rays that the machine has refused to play. Picked it up to watch my foreign disks, and while it seems to play several, it won’t play them all. Very frustrating because that was all I bought it for and it was pretty expensive. The background is also just bright white when turned on and quite unimaginative or pretty. And don’t even get me started on streaming something like Netflix or Hulu. I’ve yet to get through a full episode of anything without buffering for so long that I eventually just turn it off.
