Pros: 1. User interface software is excellent (hardware is slow, see cons section). 2. Great price. 3. Great features. 4. Relatively low DIY toner replacement cost. Cons: 1. User interface is slow. I just wish theyd use a faster processor to it was more responsive. Touch the screen ... wait for it to update ... touch the next thing ... wait ... 2. Incredibly lame power button: Has no hard power switch, so it has a single button on the UI panel for sleep, wake, and power off. Fine if the machine is awake ... but ... incredibly lame to use if the machine is asleep and you want to either wake it or shut it down. Its as if theres a hardware bug and the software team did their best to work around it, but its still barely responsive when asleep and I often had to hit the button many times or Id just give up and unplug the machine. This might have been related to my WiFi connection failure described next. 3. Consistently lost WiFi connection with my Mac and required manual power up and reset: If the printer was asleep overnight, Id have to wake it manually and sometimes even reset it as it wouldnt wake up automatically when I tried to print. This was on WiFi using the OEM Xerox WiFi module and connecting to my Macbook Pro. I spent months trying to get Xerox to troubleshoot this issue, and finally got tired of waiting and returned it. VERY disappointed, given all the pros of this machine.

Not printing after only 1200 prints/copies. Xerox sent us a new part to install; that didnt work. Then they sent out a technician. Still broken. Now, they are sending us a remanufactured product, not a new device even though weve only used it for 3 months and printed 1200 sheets. Their customer service is completely unhelpful. It was bad enough that weve had no printer for 2 weeks, but now theyre not even sending us a new device.

Got about 7 months of great usage (barring minor software issues) out of the printer before its transfer belt died. Xerox honored their on site service, and a technician eventually came to repair the unit. Unfortunately, an hour after he left, the printer started making clicking noises and complained about a toner cartridge. Called support again and waited a week, but no one came. Called back to find that service call had somehow been lost. Scheduled another service visit, and this time the technician said its a problem with a drum, which isnt covered because its a consumable. Ordered and replaced the (expensive) drum and the associated toner cartridge. Printer lasted a day, then started making clicking sounds with the same symptoms. It now sits blinking its red error light while I shop for a different brand because I dont have the stamina to deal with any more service visits.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES AND ANSWER FOR YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS: • YOU HAVE USED HALF THE "FEATURES ON THE HOMEPAGE? --. ALREADY used it... • PLEASE TELL THINK OF WHAT FEATURE YOUD NEED MOST OFTEN AND NOTE ITS IMPORTANCE (PROMINENCE). • PLEASE FIND THE WiFi TOGGLE... To me? Its stupid that the ESSENCE of a printer, which is printing and communicating with the computer ... isnt THE subject of the homepage. And its this confusion of objectives which shines through as the dominant "feature" ... which I regard, as bugs. - WASTEFUL / OVERPRICED CONSUMABLES (3rd party rarely works ≥ 50% & arrived broken twice). • USES COLORS DURING B & W PRINTING • Constantly HARANGUED by the need to buy colors I DONT USE -- because of its SCAM. - UI IS GENUINELY STUPID • SAYS WiFi IN MGMT CONSOLE ON PRINTER • CANNOT DISABLE SLEEP MODE DURING BUSINESS HOURS!! • MENUS INADVERTENTLY HIGHLIGHT + SELECT ITEM-TOUCHED ONLY TO SCROLL... (cheap). MANUAL DOESNT SAY -- [ HOW ] -- TO RE-ENABLE WiFi ... IT JUST SAYS -- [ "to" ] ... TURN IT BACK ON. THERE IN FACT, IS NO WAY TO ENABLE WiFi FROM THE PRINTERS USER INTERFACE. Once you connect to the web-mgmt (via a computer) ... you have an option (see pictures) suggesting that you can enable 802.1* -- which, the * has always meant all/any/wildcard. And while you MIGHT think this meant that "WiFi printing is enabled ... youd be wrong. No such feature exists. ;-) VERY ANNOYING PRINTER MAYBE its worth $150. BUY SOMETHING ELSE. RETURN anything not immediately "impressed" by the beautiful prints -- its ease and intuitiveness of use, that its RELIABLE!, efficient, and doesnt WASTE your consumables. Its bad enough this is a form of gouging; but on top of it, you may not have the consumable you need when you need it, all so they could scam you.

There are things to like about this printer but it was too much trouble and I returned it. While setting it up to print was no problem I discovered scanning is a real issue. Check the forums on this printer before you buy, tons of issues and no resolution. I never once got it to scan. When it prints the quality is good but it was a constant arm wrestling to get it to work and I have a fairly simple set up so not the most complex situation by far. If you are a tech guru and love to spend time tweaking, then go ahead. Me, I need to print/scan and go so this did not work. Also, while it is a wireless printer you have to buy the wireless adapter separately. It does not come wireless ready.

Everything works great except the fact that ADF scans come out skewed. I have a user that scans into a share drive on a daily basis at maximum 5-15 pages per job and performs about 5-7 of these jobs per day. Out of these 7 jobs I would say its skews about 6 out of 7. Its not a deal breaker for some but for our industry its very unprofessional. Id rather return a brand new device than to seek warranty repairs for a product thats just barely been out of the box for 4 - 5 days.

The printer has never worked well form day one. After a few months its started to crumple every seventh or so pages as it printed. Called support, and they sent out some new rollers. Our office has been under construction so it took a couple of months to replace them and now that we have it ruins nearly every page. Called support again and was advised that were now out of warranty (we bought it less than a year ago). Now we have to fax in (cant email apparently its still the 90s at Xerox) some paperwork to have someone come out and fix it. Dont waste your money on this. Its no better than a giant paperweight. Buy a Cannon.

This printer is very complex and has a lot of features. Unfortunately the only thing it does well is print on paper. The set up was so complex that after working on it for a week, and I am fairly savy with these units, I finally asked Amazon for a technical person to come out . He worked on it for 4 hours before he gave up. Today the printer decided to get locked on one paper tray and I have worked on resetting it for three hours. This is a piece of %$#^%$#%$#

At work we use Xerox elusively so I purchased one for home use. I was surprised to see that the printer was DOA. I dont have a car to lug a large heavy printer to a UPS drop off location. I hoped Xerox would come by to repair it but I ended up wasting a day off from work.

Although meant to ship with factory default password, this unit did not recognize the default. Xerox accused me of having changed the password and forgotten it, all in the few days I had the unit trying to log in as administrator to choose settings. They wanted to charge for a service call. And the documentation and installation were atrocious. STAY AWAY!!!!!
