I like the size...it is very compact for a laser jet and fits nicely in my very small den/office. Upon plugging it in to my router, I was able to connect immediately. I still need to go into the router and assign it a static IP (not required, simply desired) but connectivity has not been an issue. Unlike many printers Ive read about, it comes out of sleep mode immediately when I send a document or when I push the front panel button to wake it. It prints very fast and making a copy of a document is simple and faster....place the document on the flatbed, push a button and you have a copy! Although it scans in color, it naturally copies in B&W / Grayscale and does do a very nice job. Currently, my only criticism is scanning. However, I think my issues are not related to the HP MFP printer-scanner. I use two programs with which to scan: Foxit and GIMP. GIMP (an open source photoshop type program) handles everything nicely. Ive never had a problem finding the scanner or scanning in color with GIMP. I have had problems doing so with Foxit. I do not currently have the full version of the Adobe pdf software on my computer, so I could not check with that. All that being said, I have a problem scanning with anything in Grayscale. The workaround is simple...scan in color with no problems, then convert to grayscale. I dont know if this problem is with Twain, or if it is a scanner issue. At this time I have not called HP tech support. When I find out, I will edit this post. I do not use a number of features available with this MFD. For example, I do not and have no desire to FAX, thus I cannot comment on this feature. I also do not use Google Cloud Print. However, I have been using the HP Web Services which will allow me to print emails and email attachments remotely. It works quite well. Perhaps I will investigate Google Cloud Print in the future, but neither service is all that important to me. Still...its really cool. I also do not use the USB print feature...I simply print over my internal LAN. I see few reasons for USB printing if you have your own LAN. Another cool feature is the web interface. Simply type the IP address of the printer (dont forget your password that you assign) and you have access to all printer features and setup parameters. Since this printer is so flexible, the setup parameters are vast. Some will likely intimidate the average user, but even for the average user, it is an amazing feature to handle your printer in this fashion. Its just cool and simplifies things greatly. I know some persons will complain about the small screen on the panel of the printer. But you dont really need a full blown touch screen (which will add significant cost) when you can do most, if not all, of what you need to do from a web interface. There is even an app to do this from your cell phone (as technologically savvy as I am with high tech building automation systems, computers, etc,, I refuse to ball and chain myself to a cell phone so cannot comment on that feature). Also from this web interface, you can check toner usage (about 1400 pages) and drum life )about 18,000 to 19,000 pages). You can also order product when necessary. Smart marketing! Despite the current issues Im having with scanning (which are easily circumvented), and scanning is the most important feature I need from this MFP, I will maintain my five star rating until I find out otherwise. EDIT: Regarding the scanning issue, I have been using the HP provided TWAIN software and it scans gray scale just fine. It appears the problem was in my previous TWAIN software (or Foxit). I do significant PowerPoint development. The last several weeks, Ive had no issues scanning or printing.

No user manual included on CD, when I download manual with correct model number on it the instructions are for a model with either a two line input pad or a touch screen input pad. The one on Amazons picture is the same as the model I received but I am unable to find any instructions for a 10 key type input device so I am unable to connect to a wired or wireless network. Since I am using both PC laptop and Mac desktop I was hoping to be able to do wireless printing. I am adding a picture of the manual cover to show the key pad difference from the model Amazon is shipping. HPs Response to me is FALSE, They have no manual for this exact model. Feb. 15th. After two days of trying I finally got to HP Support Chat, they admit they DON"T HAVE a manual that matches the product that I have but tell me I just have to convert the instructions from the 2 line LCD control panel to my current mahine. Through out their Manuel there are extensive instructions on how to use either the 2 line LCD or Touch Screen Control Pads but of course no information on this control pad.

Love this all in one printer, it has excellent quality, it is fast in processing and the detailed and convenient features meet all of my needs. The only reason I did not give it 5 starts was it is a bit noisy when it prints and almost sounds like there is something wrong with it but other than that it works wonderfully! I am so glad I decided to buy a new item and chose this one. I recommend it highly!

Ive certainly owned worse printers over the years. This one seems to have a decent build quality and after some initial alignment trouble Ive not encountered any additional problems with it. I find the print quality to be just fine and as expected for an HP laser printer, though Im not as super-sensitive about "print quality" as many others. Im not sure it will meet the advertised page count expectation but I generally only print one or a few pages at a time. I understand that you will usually not get as high of a page count out of a toner cartridge when you print in this way (which is how most people print at home though, by the way). It still seems like it will be much cheaper to operate and more reliable than any inkjet choice as an occasional duty home monochrome printer.

Nice little printer, easy to setup, and very fast printing. Only gripe would be the tiny toner cartridge that will require more frequent replacement.

It prints and scans fine. Im not an expert in print quality. It is annoying as can be. Once you toner cartridge gets low it prompts a huge dialogue box to appear on your screen that WONT go away even though the cartridge is still good for 2 more weeks etc. Also the number of sheets you get is lower than the unit I have at home that is also HP and is NOT close to be as annoying. I regret this purchase.

So far so good Not nearly the quality of HP printers of the past but still the best printing of any machine. My only complaint is The display pad is very hard to use (small numbers) so when I fax I have to use a pen to push the numbers. There is a digital display choice pad and I would get that instead.

I should of upgraded a long time ago. I love this printer! I have it hooked to the router on the home network and anyone can print from anywhere in the house once they install install the drivers and app. Double sided printing is wonderful tool. The controls arent intuitive as they could be for making copies and I still havent figured out printing envelopes, but the more I use it the more I learn. Nice!

So i was looking for a wireless version of this printer and its the HP Laserjet Pro M227fdw as the seller has named it but just received it and its the HP Laserjet Pro M227fdn. It ends with an -n- this is the ethernet version not the wireless one as the seller has labelled it. Just wasted two days of my time
