Great output for the first 100 pages, then wide magenta bands appeared on pages. Help system is a bad joke. Ordered new magenta toner for $130 and will see if that fixes the problem then try to get my money back for that. Update: HP support diagnosed the problem as a transfer belt and said they could ship me one within 30 days. I pushed back hard and they had one to me one week later. I had to install it myself using videos from HP website. It took an hour but I got it. One month later, the problem recurred and I went ballistic, forcing HP to dispatch a technician to my office. The part arrived two days later, the technician appeared the next day, he swapped out the one month old transfer belt for another one and....the same result. The technician recommended a new toner cartridge, which he did not have but which I did. He threw out the original magenta toner that showed 100% on the supplies report, inserted the new cartridge and it appears to have fixed the problem. He claims HP is sending me a new toner cartridge. I decided to spend $39 for a two year extended warranty at HPs website. (Its advertised as three years, but coexists with the original one year warranty, so its really just the second and third year.)

I purchased this printer to replace my old HP Color Laser Jet 2550N which was starting to show its age. Installation and setup were extremely easy and the printer connected to my network and was assigned an IP from the DHCP server. Installed the Windows 7 driver from the include CD and performed a series of test prints. The time to first out was very impressive (about 9 seconds); as was the color quality/resolution. Printer arrived with firmware ver 3.4.1 and I downloaded and installed the current ver 3.6. This task was also easy to accomplish using the HP Embedded Web interface.

This printer is good but has some annoying set up issues. The biggest problem is that it does not come with a USB cable, so I had to waste 30 minutes out of my life to buy a USB cable just to use the printer. Extremely annoying. Another annoying feature is that the power switch, which is on the front of the machine, blinks when it is in standby mode. If you have the printer on your desk, this is intolerable. I had to tape a piece of cardboard over the switch. Pluses: * The printer supports Windows XP Yay! Not only that, if you use XP the machine does not spy on you the way the Windows 7/8/10 versions do. I had no problems using the setup CD that came with the printer and works in Windows XP. * The printer is very quiet and goes in and out of standby promptly. * It has good feed mechanisms and is able to handle card stock. * It prints very fast and the print quality is good. * It has a side feeder tray that flips out. So, you can leave paper in the main tray and then feed labels, envelopes and card stock into the side tray when you need to. The main tray holds a full ream of paper and the side tray can hold about 50 envelopes. * The printer is expandable in various ways. For example, you can add a second main paper try to the bottom of the printer. You can also expand the memory from 1 GB to 2 GB.

Good price compared to other retailers and options. Our printer repair/service company tried to sell us a refurbished model with some odd number of prints off it for near $500 more than I bought it here brand new. Fail on their part thinking we wouldnt check and they lost. Good print, nice and sharp and now we have color. Our old printer was some old Canon that was placing a nasty black line down the side of the sheet and they couldnt get the right part anymore. We set that thing off to the side so they could still use it for garbage copies for truck invoices in the back and called IT to set this one up. I print black and white whenever I use it unless I really need color and the ink levels seem to hold out pretty good so far. I do not see everyone that uses this one so that is a bit of a guess. This is the first HP that the sleep mode has not thoroughly pissed me off yet. It does seem to wake up and get the job done. Our HP T830 plotter still wakes up maybe, maybe not, so I call the sleep function a win. Good looking, sleek with a rather small footprint for what it does. No driver issues and connecting via ip loads the driver in Win10-64 with no issues.

Its frustrating to get a new printer and youre ready to set it up only to have errors thrown at you immediately. After a lot of trouble shooting we discovered the memory card was completely absent on the main board. How does this happen?! I wouldnt even give it 1 star except I had to choose something to get this review out there.

HP added a update via their automatic update process that keeps you from using non-hp toner. While it may print great, this tactic is makes buying their printers a very BAD deal.

What a scam. Two years ago this printer had duplex printing, now PRESTO its gone, so you have to manually flip over pages. Newer printer, same model, FEWER features. HP is a scam.

Very happy with this printer. Very fast, especially the first page out. Makes much less noises then the previous generation HP this replaces, as well as being a little smaller (still big and heavy). Great price considering the cartridges that come with the printer are good for thousands of pages (4 or 6 I forget).

I feared for this printer as I saw the delivery man DROP the box and it tumbled over. Thanks UPS....grrrr! Printer works but I fear for its longevity.

Great printer and great upfront price. However, a complete set of toner refills (all colors) costs more than $600. I did not check toner prices before buying.
