Purchased product 11/2017 (8 months ago) and only lightly used since then. Started to notice bands of black vertical lines on any scanned or copied documents that went through the document feeder. After trying to clean the machine in accordance with their instructions, they accepted that there is a malfunction and they will be replacing the machine, but only with a refurbished unit. They informed me that you would only get a new unit if the original failed within the first 60 days. That is a lousy warranty in my opinion and I will never purchase another Epson printer/scanner on principle.

For the last eight years, Ive used a two-printer solution: an Epson Stylus 1400 for dedicated photo printing and color documents and a Brother MFC laser for copying, scanning, and black & white documents. Within the last week, the Stylus 1400 needed a full new set of ink and the Brother needed a costly new drum. I decided instead of spending the money to resupply those machines, Id look for something which could bridge the gap and let me have just one printer in my home office. After exhaustive research and some hands-on testing at Staples and Office Depot, I selected the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730. Its wonderful so far. PROS: - Streamlined cube design - Two paper trays - Ability to handle cardstock up to and including 120 lb. through Tray 1 - Easy handling of envelopes through Tray 1 - Ability to keep stock office paper in Tray 2 and use Tray 1 for specialty projects - Crisp text - High yield cartridges available lasting for thousands of prints - Relatively low cost per page (1.9 bw and 8.2 color) - Automatic duplex printing - Compatibility with my desktop, laptop, and iPhone - Scan to Cloud (Google Drive for me) - Auto-feed copier tray - Decent photo quality - Light enough for one person to carry, even in the box - Not too large (smaller than the 7630 and most MFC lasers) - DuraBrite ink doesnt bleed through text weight paper the way Claria did - Set-up was a breeze CONS: - Although Im still tweaking settings, the photo output is not on par with the dedicated Epson Stylus 1400 photo printer I used for eight years (dynamic range is a bit muted, colors arent quite as punchy even with adjustment, and images look a tad more digital and less photographic if that makes any sense) - No OCR software included for scan-to-text (but the TWAIN-compliant functionality is there once I find a program like ABBYY to use with it) Overall, Im very pleased and would recommend this multi-function printer to a friend. Im especially happy with the cardstock handling ability. This will suffice for all of my copying, printing, and scanning needs except professional / competition level photographic enlargements which Ill send out to a lab. I purchased this printer at Office Depot.

Love the improvements on this WF-4730 - much more quiet, seems to use much less ink.The larger touch screen has clear directions, much easier to read than on the WF-3640. The screen is on a panel that can be rotated to whatever angle you need it to be for easier viewing. Both B&W and color print much faster than my WF-3640. I was really exited when I saw my first color print on Epson Ultra Premium Color Print Glossy paper. WOW, great color and finish - like a professional photo! So far no complaints! And It was easier to set up than almost any printer I have ever had.

Not happy with this printer; It has quit working after less than two years. I am an individual with probably average printer demands. I used the scanner occasionally and the copy feature also occasionally. The printer never did feed properly from the drawer #2 it would grab more than one sheet of paper and feed it through, so it would print part on one sheet and the rest of the page would print on the next page. It did print wirelessly fairly well, (when it would work)

Constantly jammed. Perhaps it was a returned item but I would not recommend this again. Scanning was fine, although that Jammed once too. Coping always jammed. I would suggest a different brand

Do you like to print or scan? If you do, then this printer is for you. You will spend hours and hours clearing paper jams and trying to get the ADF or trays 1/2 to feed. Great functionality of this printer for those of you that enjoy this Sisyphean task is the WiFi. This allows you to have the printer anywhere in your house thus making the process truly painful. As soon as you get back to your computer, you have to get up to go clear the jam. What it lacks in mechanical prowess, this glorified plastics pollution creator makes up in print and scan quality. Did you ever wonder how 9 pin dot matrix looked and what improvements 24 pins brought? Fret none, you will learn it quickly. All scans will take you back to the 90s and you will relive the glories of thermal fax paper quality only on your high DPI 4K monitor. What else can possibly be said? Yes, the ink. I am sure it lasts a long time. I am unable to confirm it however. It looks like the NSA uses my printer all night every night after drugging my family into sleep. That is the only possible explanation for print longevity. Maybe IRS statues are being printed secretly. That right there is more reasonable than saying that print cartridges are long lasting. All of this is coupled to a fantastic software whose sole purpose is to generate clicks. It is as if some manager came to the software guys and said: "Team, pay per click is all the rage now. Make it take as many clicks as possible." Or maybe the guy that did the software is just misanthrope. What else can be said about this item? I guess what you need to know is that in 19 years on Amazon and thousands of purchases this is the first review. I just felt an urge tonight to save someone. Even if I can save one person from being tricked into Epson garbage I feel like I have completed what the good Lord has put me on the earth to do. Let me put it another way. If you really want to buy it, just PM me and I will send you mine for just the cost of shipping. It is yours.

Could not get the software to work on windows 10. Contacted Epson and spent most of a day trying to get this working. Epson told us we had to run the software as an administrator. This will not work because the standard user would have to enter the administrator username and password every time they start the software. Epson told us we had to call Microsoft support to get it working. This is clearly an issue with the Epson software, not our computer. This was replacing an older Epson printer that worked fine with the computer except it had paper feed issues. Once we installed the software for the new printer, the scanner software would not work. After all of the time we spent and being told we had to pay Microsoft for support, we returned this printer and purchased a Cannon. The Cannon printer installed no problem and we were back up in running in like ten minutes. Epson really needs to fix the software and stand by their product.

After only a short period of time using this printer, it has jammed on me several times and the initial ink does not last long. I signed up for the auto renewal on Amazon where the printer sends the ink status to Amazon when it is low and they automatically ship it. But after installing the ink cartridges, and no printing, a few days later, it says Im low on all ink again. SCAM!!! Now I wonder exactly how empty the last cartridges actually were. Do not get scammed. Do not buy this piece of junk.

This would be a 5-star review except for one small thing: Epson should be ashamed of what they charge for replacement ink for this printer. One trip back to the (ink) well, and youve nearly bought the entire printer again. I get it - printers are sold at a loss and manufacturers expect to make up the loss-leader through ink sales...and that may be a reasonable strategy with the consumer market. But this is a small business-oriented product (hence the WF (work force) model-prefix), and such shenanigans just shouldnt be a part of this. Most businesses understand the concept of higher-quality, heavier-duty commercial products costing more than cheapie consumer-oriented, light-duty ones. The sad reality is that the feature-set and performance of this printer put it easily into a class where many if not most businesses would probably pay double the price for it, possibly more. Its quite good at what it does. But by pricing it not far out of the range of most consumer printers and then making the ink A) proprietary/chipped and B) exorbitantly expensive, all EPSON have done is shoot themselves in the foot. People will be motivated now to simply find ways around having to purchase EPSON ink rather than be gouged in perpetuity every time they print -- and thats a shame, because if EPSON had simply priced this unit appropriately for what it actually cost them to design/build and offered a reasonable price on the ink, theyd probably recoup MORE money in the long run.

Works as advertised. Started using generic ink cartridges because of high costs with no issues. However recent firmware upgrade caused printer to no longer recognize non-Epson cartridges. Epson has you over barrel. Buy from them or waste your money. Sending to landfill today! Update: I broke down and purchased Epson cartridges. Bad decision! Printer message says “Clean Nozzles”. While doing so, it stops half way and says Reboot. After Rebooting it again says “Clean Nozzles”. This goes on endlessly. After checking online I learned this is just how Epson works. I’ve now purchased HP printer at Big Box w 2 year replacement Warranty add on. Better than ten months my Epson lasted. Anybody want my unused cartridges?
