This would be a 5-star review except for one small thing: Epson should be ashamed of what they charge for replacement ink for this printer. One trip back to the (ink) well, and youve nearly bought the entire printer again. I get it - printers are sold at a loss and manufacturers expect to make up the loss-leader through ink sales...and that may be a reasonable strategy with the consumer market. But this is a small business-oriented product (hence the WF (work force) model-prefix), and such shenanigans just shouldnt be a part of this. Most businesses understand the concept of higher-quality, heavier-duty commercial products costing more than cheapie consumer-oriented, light-duty ones. The sad reality is that the feature-set and performance of this printer put it easily into a class where many if not most businesses would probably pay double the price for it, possibly more. Its quite good at what it does. But by pricing it not far out of the range of most consumer printers and then making the ink A) proprietary/chipped and B) exorbitantly expensive, all EPSON have done is shoot themselves in the foot. People will be motivated now to simply find ways around having to purchase EPSON ink rather than be gouged in perpetuity every time they print -- and thats a shame, because if EPSON had simply priced this unit appropriately for what it actually cost them to design/build and offered a reasonable price on the ink, theyd probably recoup MORE money in the long run.

Works as advertised. Started using generic ink cartridges because of high costs with no issues. However recent firmware upgrade caused printer to no longer recognize non-Epson cartridges. Epson has you over barrel. Buy from them or waste your money. Sending to landfill today! Update: I broke down and purchased Epson cartridges. Bad decision! Printer message says “Clean Nozzles”. While doing so, it stops half way and says Reboot. After Rebooting it again says “Clean Nozzles”. This goes on endlessly. After checking online I learned this is just how Epson works. I’ve now purchased HP printer at Big Box w 2 year replacement Warranty add on. Better than ten months my Epson lasted. Anybody want my unused cartridges?

Ive been a big Epson fan for years when I left HP laser B/W for color photo capability and Ive really enjoyed my older WF-4530 (rear feed tray; quality print registry; ink cartridge size/print qty/affordability; ease of use; dependability for years!); so while I wrestled with the thoughtful critical reviews to the WF-4730 I took the plunge 5 months ago because I needed another workhorse in a remote location. It was reasonably simple to set up both for network, "direct connect", and cable but with 5 different devices trying to connect (not simultaneously) I have routinely over time had connectivity issues and often find myself having to reboot the printer to get it to recognize the devices especially during the scan process (and reloading software in 2 instances). What I need is easy seamless technology; this is especially frustrating using multiple technology devices for routine productivity. When not inconvenienced by these nuances the print quality of this machine is definitely not on par with my WF-4530, and in fact is not even business quality with routine print registry problems. Disappointed with the downward QC trend! Im ready for more black ink and color soon, but with the incredulous ink prices the best choice based on the purchase price of the WF-4750 is to dump it in the recycle bin and try a different machine. Come on Epson you can do better!! I wouldnt recommend it; even at this price!

I started to like Epson better than HP because it could use re manufactured ink. Then Epson decided to sneak in a firmware update that has made refilled ink cartridges not recognized and the printer becomes a ugly decoration in the office and will not work. Their ink cartridge prices are way too high and now that is all they want you to use all the sudden without warning. I have searched for ways to downgrade back and found none. I will now junk this printer and Epson unless this is fixed ASAP. Bad business practice. Customer service said sorry and had no solution or answer for this? Looking at Brother and Cannon now.

Epson firmware updates will brick (make it useless) your printer if you dont use Epson ink cartridges or you refill their cartridges. The funny part is I got better print quality after I installed non-OEM cartridges. The WF-4730 is slow starting, ok print speed, doesnt recognize second paper cartridge has the same paper in it by most applications, and otherwise below average. After the firmware update the printer is trash. DO NOT BUY EPSON PRINTERS.

This printer is a piece of junk. Ive put up with its various idiosyncrasies for over a year. It commonly jams, often gathers several sheets of paper and pushes them through in chunks in order to print one page, and falls off the network on the daily. Today, I updated the firmware and the printer is completely bricked as it now does not recognize the remanufactured ink cartridges that it has been using for several months. Not cool, Epson.

It takes forever to scan and print something after all its false problems like paper jams which dont exist and reporting that the paper isnt what was specified (also not true). It took me 1 1/2 hours to scan and print 2 pages of music score so that they would come out properly. My earlier scan-printers never caused me this much time and effort. Id never buy this product by this manufacturer again.

Absolutely the worst printer Ive ever owned. Ive had issues with just about every aspect of this product. CONSTANT paper jams - regardless of type of paper, numerous errors including inability to print "current page" selection and having to regularly reboot to recognize printing queues. Running with a brand new pc so this is not an issue. And above all else - horrible photo print quality. I mean the worst Ive ever seen comparatively. Unless youre into constant frustration and disappointment avoid this piece of junk at all costs.

Setup took a little while. Updating the latest firmware and setting up wireless to my router. I printed a test page and its very quick. Its not perfect for printing photos as its still missing other colors as well. It may do okay, but, stick to getting a photo printer for that case. Other than that, the print quality is okay. I cant say that this is like laser print quality, its much clearer than my previous all in one printer which I bought back in 2010. This one is quick with printing color and black and white with ease. When looking closely at the print, you could still tell that its like inkjet, but, more improved. Also, keep in mind that this isnt a full toner cartridge. When shaking the toner, I heard it swishing around alot and it sounds like its not filled all the way. Im just hoping it doesnt dry up like how it does on my previous printer and will update if I noticed anything else.

This would be a fantastic printer except for the fact that the ink is EXPENSIVE and there is no one that I have found that does the off brand. Seriously - this is not okay. What a waste of money. I went to replace ink today and almost bought a different printer that I know has cheaper ink or the off brand availability. I just was short on time...
