I purchased this printer with some reluctance due to the lack of information but was pleasantly surprise to find familiar features(full compatibility) as I had with my R260 Photo Printer. The compact size is nice and the front loading/printing trays are a little more convenient for my small office space needs but there were some difficult and confusing moments initially trying to get the sequence of operations worked out. The drawings were good but the text instructions were a little skimpy. The preliminary setup for print testing was straight forward and luckily the print tests looked good. One of my main interests in this printer is the CD/DVD printing since I had done years of disk printing with my Epson R260 and was concerned that it may have changed over time but I was relieved find that Epson uses the same application(Epson Print CD) for the XP-6000 and the file formats are compatible back to the middle 2000’s(.ec3, .ec4, etc). This enables me to print out any older labels that I had created 10 years ago. The quality of the paper printing is exceptional and the photo paper printing is impressive as always with Epson printers. I have yet to use the scanner and I used all hard wiring to connect to my PC but hope to test WiFi connectivity also. As a side note, having used a Epson R260 Photo printer for over 10 years with the increasing costs of the cartridges, I am happy to see the XP-6000 cartridges are much less in price, almost 35% less. This may not be a real workhorse of a printer but for the price and the features it is a whole lot of printer for the buck.

In this day and age, Ive found that most printers do their main job, actually printing out words and pictures, fairly well, and this printer is no exception there. Once I actually got it to print, the print quality of both documents and pictures was fine. Not anything that blew me away with by being crystal clear, but nice, and pictures printed a bit more quickly than I am used to. So...that part was good. However, setting it up was a bit of a nightmare. So much of this kind of problem could be solved with good technical writing. If there is anything at all about a product that is different than the norm, especially, that should be spelled out and explained clearly in a printed manual included with this product. The printer did come with a quick start guide (in fact, two different one, one stated as a quick guide and the other not, but mostly the same), but it glossed over several details. The printer had several aspects that I wasnt used to. For starters, to install paper correctly, the whole display needs to be lifted up, the paper tray needs to be pulled completely out, then put back, and then a paper guide/holder for the completed print needs to be pulled out. If you dont, you get a printing error, which is small and hard to read. This happened to me about 10 times until I finally figured it out, mostly by trial and error. Also, when I went to print in what I have always considered the standard mode, 8 1/2 by 11 letter size, I got a message that size was not supported by my printer. Finally, I figured somehow the printer had automatically judged my (fairly normal average printer paper) to be size A4. I set both the printer and the source at that, and got a print. My first print, after 2 hours of struggle. I wont get into the tricky small and user-unfriendly setup for the Wi-Fi, or the odd symbols on the buttons instead of just a normal "print" button. Ill just say I was pretty frustrated. I like some things about this printer. It is small, and fits into a tight area. It has 5 ink cartridges, with a separate black for photos and documents, so you dont have to get all new ink if you only really need one of the colors. It works with an Epson ios app, so you dont need a computer to use it. Its not at all a bad printer, and Ive used it a bit now and aside from a few more frustrating issues, I like it fairly well. Ive printed quite a few pictures, and still have a good amount of ink, which is always nice. So---if you are easily frustrated by setup, and you want a printer that works like your last printer without any surprises, you might not like this one. But if youre a tech whiz, and you like a challenge, and you want a compact printer, this might be a good one.

Do not buy this printer! I tried to do all the research I could on what the best printer/copier/scanner would be to fit my needs. I guess I didnt think to look into the availability of the ink cartridges. It takes FOUR different cartridges~the usual colors, plus "photo black" and a regular black. Not sure what the difference is between the two blacks, but you need them both to operate the printer. There is only ONE listing for the 302 ink cartridges on Amazon, none on Officedepot.com, and it was ridiculously difficult to even find it on Epson.com. I finally resorted to eBay, and even though they were listed as new, the amount of ink in each cartridge varied from 50% to 100%. The printer works great, but its not worth it with all the ink issues.

Setup was reasonably simple, however after printing the head test one of the BK patterns had flaws. Printer suggested to run head cleaning cycle, which I did. The pattern that had flaws now disappeared completely. Make the story short, see the attached image that demonstrates sequential test results after each cleaning cycle. I decided to try printing a test document containing text and a small image. The result was quite poor output, definitely resulting from either head problem, or provided ink quality. I returned it back to Amazon.

I am pleased with this printer. Setup was easy but I did watch some videos prior to installing after reading some reviews about having difficulty setting it up. Calibration took some time but was pretty simple to do. I didnt have any issues connecting wirelessly. I would recommend this printer.

I bought this printer here on Amazon 3 months ago for around $80 and I have been using it regularly to print color planner pages, make copies, and for assorted printing. I have not tried photos at all yet but it seems like it would print good quality photos. The color copies that Ive printed have been very high quality. It prints on both sides if you like, which was important to me (though it was a little tricky finding out how to set that up when it wasnt doing it automatically). The printer came with initial ink and I guessed that it would be just a small amount to get me started but I am just now ordering replacement ink. I am not out yet but I thought I was running out of magenta because today it printed oddly with lines and off colors. That said, I did a printer test and it turned out the magenta print head was clogged even though I have been taking good care of it and printing regularly (about 2 color pages a day). I ran a print head cleaning and it now works fine again. So do not assume youre out of ink if it starts printing wonky -- it may simply need you to clean the print heads. You do need to know that Epson is kind of high maintenance when it comes to those print heads. With my old Epson printer, I rarely printed things because I wanted to save money on ink. That was a bad mistake because it turns out the print heads dry up and clog if not used regularly. In the long run, your printer will last far longer if you at least regularly print a few things. Thats why even if you print in black and white, youll slowly use the color ink up too -- Epson has it set up to use a tiny amount of those each time too so they dont clog. Since the printers are made so its nearly impossible to fix or clean really clogged print heads, its worth it to just use your printer regularly. I didnt have any issues setting it up and my husband easily synced it to work from his cell phone too. I am not at all tech savvy and found it easy, so Im not sure why other reviewers consider it challenging. One thing to keep in mind is that ink is expensive for this and its not yet available at places like Walmart. If you use counterfeit ink, youre likely to either get poor quality printing or clog your print heads and ruin your printer. Im not sure, but I think it voids the warranty too. I used to buy the cheap stuff but decided it was worth it to have good quality and help my printer last longer. But it stings to spend more on replacement ink packages (currently around $80 for a 5-pack of high capacity inks in each color and black) than the printer cost. As a homeschool mom who really values being able to print good quality stuff out, its worth it to me. It is something to keep in mind before buying, though. All in all, Im happy with the printer and think it was well worth the price I paid for it.

Couldnt get it to work. Sending back. A few things that I could see: + Great Price & small size/footprint - Teeny tiny paper tray, holds basically 10-15 sheets of 8.5"x11" NO MORE - Confusing installation (theres a visual installation vid on youtube, watch it .. it will help) - Ink installation is a bit more challenging that you would think (TIP: lock in /slide into place.. the back THEN the front) Hope this helps. Since I couldnt get it going, Im returning it.

This thing is the worst. My husband bought it for my birthday, and I waited a few weeks to open it. Initially I knew it was an awful piece of crap once I tried to set it up. Its terribly user unfriendly. Then every time I went to use it, even performing simple black and white copies, it was uneven and not printing complete lines. You literally have to run the head cleaning tests over and over again to get it perform normal. So, this happened about 3 times.... Turn it on to print, print comes out awful, run head cleaning option. After that, it refused to work because it ran out of black ink. Seriously, only used the stupid thing to "clean" its own heads about 15 times drained the black ink. Now we cant get ANYONE to help us. Amazon wont help, and Epson customer service is useless. We cannot get anywhere with Epson and we even bought the extra warranty. I am essentially stuck with this piece of garbage. NEVER AGAIN will I, or anyone in my family purchase an Epson product.

This printer was great for the first ten sheets or so. Then it ran out of black, yellow, and magenta ink. I spent a fortune to replace the ink and the printer shows that they are already halfway gone and I haven’t even printed anything! Not only that, it prints with lines through it. I am so bummed that I am past the return window. This printer is for anyone that likes to spend $60 on ink to print 10 line colored pages.

My not ready for prime time Epson XP-6000 Expression Premium arrived without a CD/DVD printing tray. At first Epson Customer Service replied to my message that I received no CD/DVD printing tray by sending me direction on how to use the CD/DVD tray. After protracted negotiations, Epson finally sent me a CD/DVD tray. While the printer will print text and graphics, the printer will not print CDs, consistently returning error code 31. Not only did the print CD function not work, neither did the scanner function. When Epson Customer Service attempted troubleshooting over the phone, that failed too because the first step, after tuning it off and back on, was to scan something! And Im stuck with it because by now the return date has passed. Im going to give this lemon away and get a good printer. That is, Im going to get a comparable Cannon multi-function printer and I suggest everyone else do the same.
