If you need a printer and its between this one and ANY offering by HP, get this one. (I went through 2 HP printers in two months because both were HUGE lemons that HP refuses to assist with despite having an extended warranty on both, and both being less than 1 month old, each). Some background about how this printer is used: I print about 100-150 pages a month, in color, double-sided. Some are 8.5 x 11, and some are 8.5 x 14. About 90% of my printing is on regular paper but I sometimes have a need to print on card stock. While I also use the copy and scan features on a monthly basis, its an average of 20 pages a month. Finally, I needed a printer that could connect wirelessly to various laptops. After that, I dont really care about other features (cloud, photo, etc.). This printer is average and ONLY average. First, the paper tray holds about 40 pages at a time. Thats it. If you overfill it, you cant fit the ridiculous partial cover over the end of the tray and... get this... you CANT print without that "cover" in place! I would have LOVED to find a printer that could hold more than 40 pages at a time but this is NOT that printer. Also, re-filling the tray is a pain in the butt because of that silly partial cover because it just sort of sits there - it doesnt snap in place, and its really easy to knock it out of place, stalling printing. Its a ridiculous design. Second, its L O U D. Like, you cant have a conversation while its printing, copying, or scanning, kind of loud. Its so loud that they gave it a "quiet mode" which makes printing double-dog-slow and its really not that much quieter. And it doesnt work at all if youre printing double-sided! Also, the "quiet mode" is only for printing and doesnt work at all for copying or scanning. Why? Because whoever designed it hasnt actually used a printer in the real world. Third, it has this ECO mode where it automatically turns itself off to "save power". I have turned this feature OFF several times but apparently, it doesnt want to believe me. So, every time I print, I get the "printer is not on" error message, then I have to turn it on, wait a few minutes, change the setting to OFF, then it prints. Every. Single. Time. Day. After. Day. I did a ton of research on all kinds of printers and this was - horrifically - the "best" available for what I needed. I do not have any faith that this will be a long-lasting printer. I did pay $6 for the extended warranty but only because of the hassle of having to find a new one.
