I agree with many of the other reviewers, this is a very nice large monitor with very bad controls. My 27" Apple display finally gave up the ghost, so I was left with finding a high quality image without the $800 price tag. This display is very crisp, and I enjoy the extra couple of inches. However, its annoying that the display has speakers, but cannot be controlled via the volume control icon. You can opt to switch between the Macbook internal sound (which isnt great), or the external Viewsonic speakers via System Preferences. From the controls on the back of the monitor, which are a real pain to figure out, I finally set the volume on the monitor to 100%, which isnt really all that loud, but will be just fine for listening to music or YouTube. Ill go back to the MacBook volume when working, because I hate the bonking of Excel, etc., so I can still easily mute when desired. All-in-all, I think this monitor was the best brand given the parameters of 2560x1440p for the price.
