Im not a fanboy of any company. I came from an 23" Acer monitor circa 2011 or so and I wouldnt buy a flash drive from them if they made that. But what always sets Dell apart for me is that every single legacy PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse and accessory that Ive kept since 2003 is still fully operational. Sure not perfect, like the Dimension power supply was replaced, or one older LCD panel from 2003 got warrantied in 2007. But very, very good experiences, and tons of decade plus old hardware. I cant even say that about my Macs. This monitor is no exception, being I absolutely cannot afford, nor do I need a $500-1000 toy. But this puts me in the market full of a potentially low-grade, inferior and overpriced toys. It is intimidating trying to find a monitor and this monitor WAS a pain in the neck to own. I had to go through my third one (two returns) to find one without 1-2 dead pixels. Luckily, they presented immediately, within the week if not upon unboxing. I dont know if Dell uses a Samsung or LG panel, but Im blaming them, because this monitor is built very typical dell, heavy, matte hard plastics and no ultra-thin compromises. Ive now owned the monitor for 6 months, with give or take 1500 hours of run time, which I feel is a good minimum for gauging a review. It is still flawless. It is an LCD panel. So if you put it on a fully white screen, of course it is not going to look exactly like a piece of bleached paper. But with still no dead pixels, zero ghosting, and no noticeable darkening, Id say it was worth all the trouble. One final, honorable mention. LED backlit monitors have this tendency to strain my eyes and make them sore. Either a little, or a lot, depending on the panel and configuration. Well, Im happy to report Ive finally found an LED monitor which DOESNT do this. I dont know what Dell did differently than OEM LG, Samsung, and the likes, but they did it right. And that fact carries half the price tag of this thing for me alone. Because anyone with an old LCD monitor knows the hours those things allowed us to do.

**UPDATE: Dell is sending me out a replacement monitor so thats great. Pretty exceptional experience with that process thanks to Jane who is a Technical Support Associate for Dell. There must have been a bad batch of panels that Dell bought for their monitors because my other Dell monitors work fine. I still recommend buying a higher end-model with a better quality panel from Dell so they dont start to burn-in within 5 months like mine did. LEDs are not supposed to burn-in this quickly anyways. *FIRST POST: Im sure the non-bad panels they use work fine but the panel I got lasted 5 months lol... Definitely going to reconsider buying from dell in the future. 4/5 stars because my panel was poorly build but this is probably quite rare so I wont fault them for that.

Definitely cannot give the P2717H a raving review. Color is subpar compared to my U2412M which sits right next to it. Whites are definitely not very white. Ive tried calibrating the display as much as possible and the whiteness results in more of a bright yellowish tone, even when using the "Cool" monitor setting. Pretty disappointing. Increasing the brightness causes blacks to become washed out. Not at all impressed with this panel. I would recommend avoiding this LED display. *EDIT* I switched from HDMI to DisplayPort and this vastly improved the color contrast and whiteness. While this makes me happier with the monitor, I would expect the same color variation across both ports.

Great Monitor in most aspects but the Ghosting when scrolling on Web Pages, sites etc., is just awful... Especially with a $300.00 retail price tag I wouldnt have expected that! - For those that do encounter scroll Ghosting, you can eliminate it by using the "custom" setting and merely reduce your RGB percentages just a bit, however with this you do loose some clarity and sharpness of the native "standard" setting, OR, you can select a different pre-setting however nothing appears as good as what Dell calls the "standard" setting in which to me looks the best. Ive had no issues with watching videos, pictures or anything else but just scrolling and get Ghosting that changes colors and blurs more than it should when scrolling quickly... I just dont think a $300.00 Monitor should do this. I tested both on my Lenovo as well as my Gamer computer with a decent graphic card, and while that was better I could still detect Scroll Ghosting! - Also, I have numerous other monitors that well, Do not ghost. - I have also tried different cables as well as type of cable in connection. Other than the Ghosting issue, decent panel and good details and seems on-par other than that, AND the Stand that comes with this Model is GREAT! - I wish all Monitors came with a stand as nice as what comes with this Dell Model. The stand itself weighs about 7 lbs I would say and is really sturdy! Personally I like the Monitor overall but the Ghosting I think is unacceptable in a Monitor in this price range, thus why I only give this product 3 stars outta 5. Also, If anybody of Knowledge has any input on Ghosting with this Monitor and shared family, that can help correct or soften the affect of Ghosting even further Please Feel free to comment on this post.

i ordered this "dell" monitor in 2016 and it died recently- when i went to request an RMA through Dell they said that the Service tag was not a valid service tag number - so it appears that i was sold a fake dell monitor i even sent the dell support rep a picture of the back of the monitor with the service tag number - they said it was not valid.

Bought 3 of the same monitors. On one, the lower 1/3 of screen has become 5 offset instances of the same image. :( Amazon shows it as not being able to have it replaced.

Purchased this monitor for its main selling point for me: the adjustable stand. The monitor was beautiful, great matte screen, good clarity and brightness. Unfortunately as soon its plugged into any device, whether its through the VGA or HDMI input, it shows the video but the front white LED on the power button begins to blink / flash. You can try to change the monitor options to not have the LED on during operation, but it still blinks. I tried connecting this monitor to a thunderbolt dock, the HDMI output of my Macbook Pro, and even the VGA & HDMI output on an NVR, all with the same results. Dell support was not helpful at all, as soon as they determined I purchased the monitor through Amazon the only solution they offered was to contact Amazon and return the monitor. I would have loved to keep this monitor, but having an LED constantly blink at you while using it is an issue. But after not even a full work day of using it, I had to request a return for this unit, with no option for exchanging it. At least that process was painless. Im hesitant to purchase this monitor again, for fear of having the same issue.

Stopped working after 2 months. Bought two at the same time and they were plugged into the same source, but I could never get them to look the same. The colors were fine, but when sitting next to each other, they have matched up. It was especially noticeable for white. One was always more yellow or more blue than the other.

My goodness. This screen is not reliable at all. It blinks off when you start using it. Ive checked all the wires and connections and replaced or upgraded all. Why? Does anyone else have this problem? It is driving me crazy and there is no obvious reason other than a poor product.
