For the few days I have had it, I am absolutely loving the monitor. Having replacing the a BenQ RL2455HM for my computer, this monitor is in every way superior to my old monitor. As a quick backstory: I had a 60hz TN gaming monitor with a R9 390. I wanted to ascend to 144hz and Freesync. So for around the same price, you can get either this monitor or the AOC G2460PF monitor (which is listed cheaper), which both satisfy the 144hz and Freesync conditions. Between those two monitors, there is really not much differences. Both have a full adjustable vesa mount stand, 144hz refresh rate, 1ms gtg response time, flicker-free lighting, AMDs Freesync technology, average quality OSD controls, included speakers, and other little features. THE ONLY FEATURE the AOC has over the Viewsonic is the Freesync range of 30-144hz vs the 48-144hz. With my 390, I get 90+fps so I dont ever have to worry about the 48hz minimum Freesync range, so that doesnt really bother me. What made me choose this monitor over the AOC came down to reviews that pointed out the better display colors (after calibration, kinda sucked at stock settings) and better quality control. A little more expensive, but worth it to me. Now to list the PROS: 144hz Refresh Rate: You really have no idea how smooth it is over 60hz, until you switch back and forth between the two. Awesome for games too. AMD Freesync: Seriously, I cant imagine playing games over 60fps and not have some sort of adaptive sync like Freesync or Gsync. On my R9 390, I usually push all my games anywhere from 90fps to over 144fps at the highest settings. So on older games that can play at 144fps, you can use v-sync, and newer games that cant go 144fps will have TEARING (which sucks!). But with that Freesync, dont ever have to worry about that no more. YOU MUST TURN ON DISPLAYPORT 1.2 in the monitors Setup Menu for Freesync to fully work. Adjustable stand: Coming from a stand that only allowed a very small angle adjustment, this stand rocks. Specifically the height adjustment and the stand base being able to swivel. Non-PWM lighting: My old monitor also had it, and cant be considered a con. Apparently helps with eye strain. Colors: Apparently this monitor has some pretty good colors after calibration and some of the best contrast levels among TN panels. Viewing angles are a con on all TN based panels, but I look at the monitor straight on, so not relevant to me. Also non-glare display. THE ONLY CON: As I mentioned above, the monitor has a minimum 48hz for Freesync, compared to the similar AOC monitor. But this is not relevant to me as I never go to that low of an fps in any of the games I play. The con is so minuscule for me that this product is still a five star rating and probably doesnt affect that many peoples decisions. My display settings: Contrast (55), Brightness (25), Color Adjust (User Color: R97, G97, B100), Sharpness (75), Dynamic Contrast (off), Eco Mode (Standard), Blue Light Filter (100), Viewmode (Standard), Smartsync (off), Freesync (on), Response Time (Advanced), Low Input Lag (Ultra Fast), Black Stabilization (4), Advanced DCR (0). Then I used Windows Calibrate Display Colors to lower the Gamma value to ~25% from the bottom, because it is way too high. Other than that, you can tweak it to whatever is most comfortable to you.

So after looking all over Amazon and Google for a good budget 144hz 1ms monitor, I finally decided on this one. I got it last Friday (Jan 11th, 2019) and it has little black lines all across the bottom half of the screen (see pictures). Okay whatever, sometimes stuff like that happens, so I request a replacement a repack the broken one to mail it back the following week on my day off. The replacement got here today (Jan 15th, 2019) and this one has several discolored lines stretching across the length of the bottom half of the screen. I can understand one broken monitor coming, but two back to back? Seriously? Either I have worse luck than a man who tripped over a litter of black cats and fell through 17 mirrors, or Viewsonic needs to do something about their manufacturing process and quality control. Just save yourself time, money, and frustration and go buy another from another brand.

First off: heres my recommended settings: CONTRAST: 69 BRIGHTNESS: 60 (Adjust based on the light level around you) COLOR: user color, Red = 95, Green = 95, Blue = 99 MANUAL IMAGE ADJUST: SHARPNESS: 0 DYNAMIC CONTRAST: Off ECO MODE: Standard BLUE LIGHT FILTER: 0 ADVANCED IMAGE ADJUST: VIEWMODE: Standard SMARTSYNC: Off FREESYNC: On (make sure to enable this through your GPU driver, and set Windows to 144hz via Settings>System>Display>Advanced Display Settings>Display Adapter Properties>Monitor>Screen Refresh Rate. Otherwise you will see neither freesync nor 144hz.) RESPONSE TIME: Advanced LOW INPUT LAG: Ultra fast BLACK STABILIZATION: 3 ADVANCED DCR: 0 Alright, with that out of the way, let me say this: the XG2401 really delivers. It has almost everything you could expect, from super low input lag (measured by pcmonitors.info to be 3.38ms, which is incredibly fast for a modern display) to customization of color and response time (how fast pixels will change brightness/color). 144hz really does make a difference, and its visibly much smoother even on the desktop or web browsing, let alone video games. Speaking of video games, this monitor also supports freesync. If you have an AMD card that supports freesync, that means it will essentially force the monitor to adapt to the refresh rate of the graphics card. That means you can run your games at an unlocked frame rate (vsync off) and there will be absolutely no stuttering or tearing, as long as you dont go above 144fps. Some games are fairly easy to run at 144fps, like Rocket League, while others are much more demanding, but freesync means that anything you run at, up to 144fps, will look perfectly smooth. This is a TN panel, so color and black level arent particularly great compared to an IPS LCD. Despite that, this monitor actually has some pretty dang good color reproduction; nevertheless, colors might look a little dull. Dont let this put you off, though: the tradeoff with a TN panel is that while black level, color, and viewing angles suffer somewhat, the response time will be significantly faster, which is essential to a quality 144hz experience. A slow response time leads to a lot of ghosting and blurring, and the effect of 144fps wont shine through; a fast response time will make each individual frame stand out, and itll look hyper-smooth. The optimal setting for response time at 144hz is "advanced," as "standard" is too slow and blurry, while "ultra fast" has too strong of an overdrive, causing distracting shadows behind fast moving parts of the image. On the outside, the XG2401 is a sleek and unobtrusive monitor. Its not flashy and annoying, and red undertones are hidden behind the monitor and at its base. Also, the power LED is not visible from a normal angle, which is good, as it wont distract when youre playing in the dark. The monitor has a matte finish on the screen, which has its ups and downs; it cuts down on the bold glare of a smooth glass screen, but it also spreads it over the screen, dulling the image quality a bit if youre not playing in the dark. The monitors control buttons are located under the screen, where theyre somewhat easy to find and use. Overall, the XG2401 is an excellent product and a great value. While the image quality (color, black level) wont blow you away, it delivers on a quality 144hz freesync experience, and the price is low considering this. Recommended.

This is a gaming monitor which does exactly what it says. Some people will complain that its a TN panel with low color accuracy and poor viewing angles and mark it down because of that. I dont think that is fair because that isnt what it should be graded on since this isnt an IPS display. This monitor delivers a silky smooth gaming experience with an immersive experience. Games are absolutely smooth and stutter free, this is my first experience with a 144hz monitor and I am totally sold. This is how every pc gamer should experience their games especially with FPS shooters, the difference between 60hz and 144hz is night and day,. gameplay is totally immersive and you just want to keep playing. This panel is compulsory for all gamers. I dont have a radeon card so I cant say anything about freesync , which should be great on this panel. The first complaint everyone makes is the poor color out of the box and it can be quite glaring when you first power this monitor on. Before you do any calibration, if you are an NVidia card user like myself( GTX 1070) , go into the NVidia control panel and "change resolution" option set the refresh rate to 144hz.After that scroll down and change the color setting to "use NVidia settings" and change the "output color format " to "RGB Full" and apply. For some reason Nvidia defaults this setting to "limited".Once you do this you just activated the full color range of the panel and the difference is obvious. Now just go into "adjust desktop color setting " and increase the vibrance to around 60, turn down the gamma 0.85 .It should start looking better right now. you can go ahead and adjust the brightness and contrast from the display panel controls. This monitor is amazing after the simple tweaks. Another thing I noticed is if you power it on from sleep, it takes a while for the color to settle and the monitor looks good again

I was able to enable G-Sync with a display port cable and GTX 2070. The colors for this monitor are some of the best Ive seen for a TN monitor - I have my colors set to User and brightness to 90% as I cant find a good resource for someone who has already calibrated this monitor. Changing from Native to User for me made a big difference in reducing the "pink" hue and now the colors look almost perfect (remember - this is a TN panel) I also set it to Ultra Fast setting for the response time which is EXTREMELY fast. I will update the review if I have any flickering issues, ghosting etc but for now I am very happy for this monitor that IMO is worth well over $200. Just has uglier bezels then the big boys.

I purchased this to use with my newly built PC. I was sure that I wanted a 24” 1080p 144 hz monitor but went back and forth quite a bit on whether or not it was worth twice the price to go with a g-sync monitor. Now that I have used this for a few months I am very glad I saved the money. Playing games like PUBG, black ops 4, and fornite I have seen framerates right in the range g-sync is meant for (100-140 hz) and have not been able to visibly notice any stuttering. The 144hz refresh definitely makes a difference in the smoothness of the games and am really happy with my choice. I do notice some of the washed out colors of the TN panel but once I got used to it I would still trade that for the lower input lag especially at this price. My only complaint on durability is the smal plastic hoop that attaches to the back for cable management. It is tricky to install properly and seems like it would easily break.

I can confirm that the monitor is G sync compatible. I have it for about 2 weeks now and all you have to do is enable the monitor freesync then enable it in Nvidia graphics and it works great. Gaming quality and performance is unbelievable. However the usual desktop quality is average but not bad.

I got this as a second monitor, mostly for gaming. It is really nice and the 144Hz is awesome. The colors out of the box are pretty meh, and it took me a couple days of fiddling with the settings to get it to look how I wanted, but games look absolutely GORGEOUS now. I play Overwatch, BF1, Diablo 3 and Mass Effect Andromeda to name a few. I cant yet push all the way to 144 fps, but I get 60-100 on most games with Ultra settings, perhaps in the future Ill upgrade my video card to be able to really take advantage. The freesync is nice too, no stuttering at all. One thing I will definitely note however, is that if you use this primarily for like web surfing or productivity (not gaming) It will suck and you will hate it. I luckily have an IPS monitor that I use for this stuff, which is fine. I wanted this just to game with anyways, but I think its fair to mention. Like I said earlier though, the coloring in games looks amazing and is very comparable to my IPS, but outside of games it just looks mediocre. I used my own calibrations btw, I looked up some online, but I ended up switching stuff around on my own until it was to my satisfaction.

For 24” non-curved monitor version - Amazing, clear, good price. 144hz option easy to switch on in windows (comes preset at 60), by going Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties > Monitor > drop down menu for Screen Refresh Rate. Runs amazing at very high FPS if you choose (looked great at 180, but I capped my in-game settings to 100 for gfx card sake). Comes with decent built in speaker so I didn’t have to order external speakers.

After looking at numerous products in my budget pc gaming rig. I stumbled across the ViewSonic 144hz 1080p gaming monitor. I really like the durability and picture quality of this product. If you are looking for a good monitor that plays 144hz at 1080p for under $150 then this should be a viable option for you. I bought this gaming monitor to go with my RX580 Ryzen 5 build. Product was very easy to put together and I like the option to hook your head phones on the back of the monitor as well. Overall great quality and product, wont disappoint. Picture quality is clear, no missing pixels are anything that interferes with the picture quality.
