After many months debating which projector to buy to replace our old Panasonic 2,000 lumen projector, I settled on the Viewsonic. I researched the super cheap LED projectors and the high dollar projectors and can honestly say, This projector met every expectation. Mounting: I do not have a "real" ceiling mount. You can see my set-up. Hey, it works great. Ive had two other projectors there since 2003. No need to change it now. However, the projector has the standard bolt up for ceiling mounting, which means the image has several display options, ceiling, table, front mounted or reverse image in the event you have it displayed from within a darkroom. My projector is mounted 13 feet from the screen. I just replaced the screen with a new motorized Homegear screen. Both have great reflective properties. Im sure this projector and its high lumens would work fine on a wall, but I prefer a screen. But I digress. The image at 13 feet is about the whole 110 inch diagonal screen size. (96" wide by 54" tall.) To make it smaller I would have had to relocate the projector closer. This is a relatively short throw projector and will fit a huge space with ease. Remote: The remote has good functionality and allows you to set the keystone and other picture settings. Interestingly the remote has an on button, which is red, and an off button, that is, oddly enough, green. Seems reversed to me, but the fact it has two buttons for the power and shut down seems weird. Works fine. It is NOT backlit. Not sure why it should be, but some people noted that in their reviews as a minus. Brightness: I am very pleased with the ViewSonic PX700HD projector and its 3,500 lumens. This thing is very bright and seems to self manage the settings with its "eco" mode. Heres the thing. My wife loves to knit, or spinning thread/yarn, etc. So she always wants a lamp or overhead light. This projector was the answer for us watching movies together. I prefer total darkness, but hey, I can bend you know. Gotta make concessions sometimes. Anyway, for the best enjoyment, especially once the 3D glasses go on, I pull the dark curtains, turn off the lights, make some popcorn and immerse myself into what Im watching. Dark is best, but the picture is pretty good in daylight and a lit room. Resolution: Full HD 1920x1080 native resolution. Very crisp lines and the text, such as titles and credits, subtitles, etc, is as super clean and crisp. The 700 sports a wide color range, and I mean brilliant colors. It has ultra-low input latency for faster frame-by-frame action. So much better than some flat screen LCDs Ive seen. Easily on par with plasma for action and no blurring. I love action packed movies and this projector seems to handle it all. Simply amazing. Inputs: There is 2 HDMI ports, one USB and one Mini USB, and VGA and PC connections for video. No Analog RCA ports (Red,Yellow, White) on this one. It also has Audio in/out ports. However, for my set up, I use the projector for video from HDMI only. I use a 3 in 2 out HDMI selector ( 3 in/2 out HDMI Matrix Splitter/Selector with Remote Control and AC adapter)(*1) that controls the inputs from a myriad of devices, PS3, Apple TV, Blue ray player, and others as needed. The out signal goes through a second splitter (OREI HD-102 1x2 1 Port HDMI Powered Splitter Ver 1.3 Certified for Full HD 1080P & 3D Support (One Input To Two Outputs)(*2) that sends signal to the projector or TV, depending which one is on. I have not tested the USB function on the projector. 3D MODE: The projector has really great 3D mode. So far I have only used MP4 files through the Apple TV synced to my laptop and from a thumb drive inserted into my Blue Ray. If I had a 3D device, I think the movies 3d version would be automatically selected, but its super easy to select 3D sync from the remote and on-screen menu. So that you are aware, the projector does not include the 3D glasses. You have to purchase them. Any DLP type glasses will work. Rechargeable is the way to go so I bought a set of reasonably priced ExquizOn DLP Link 3D Active Shutter Glasses (*3). Holy cow what an awesome 3D image at 110 diagonal size. The 3D mode does dim the screen (glasses do this) but boy oh boy, its fun to watch. Finding 3D movies can be difficult, but there are a couple sites that allow downloads through a streaming agent, and of course theres always peer to peer if youre that kind of pirate, or, as in my case, know someone who is. Gaming: My son played a couple games from his PC. The action was smooth and lag free, he tells me. He played some Call of duty from a PS4. ( I died in minutes) Seems great to me. Hope this helps you decide what to buy. Great projector and a great price. Balancing between price and specifications entailed a few days of research but I settled on the finches and got the PX700HD. First full blown projector for me and I am very pleased, Im not an a/v specialist but -the picture and detail looks superb on my 120" white PVC screen. Ive played Nintendo switch on it, no lag and movies from a fire stick. Super bright, even with the lights on and shades partially drawn in my basement. The lumens are plenty adequate. -the built in speaker isnt meant to be a solution but it produces significant, undistorted volume and sound. Not bad at all for a tiny speaker. -all the right ports in the rear, powered usb for things such as an Amazon fire stick, 2 HDMI, generic 3.5mm audio jack for 2 channel computer speakers. HOW I CONNECT A NON HDMI DVD PLAYER WITH SURROUND SOUND TO THE PROJECTOR OR ANY PROJECTOR. Im using an HDMI audio extractor ($20) with an optical port to hook up to my surround sound speakers (5.1 channel) . My source whether it be the Nintendo switch or fire stick connects to the HDMI "in" on the external device which is my audio extractor I mentioned, then I connect an HDMI cable from the devices HDMI "out" to any one of the projectors HDMI ports. The optical cable then goes from the device optical port directly to the optical port on the DVD player that I use for my surround sound. Turn everything on and Im good to go to enjoy great audio on my projector. It was difficult for me to find a solution reading through various reviews and general searches so I did it myself and I hope this helps many folks finally figure it out.

This projector is a solid 3 star projector for myself. I really wish I could have given it a higher review as I liked it out of the box. However, overtime the negatives started to pop out a bit for me. If you are using this purely for movie watching Id say it is a nice projector and can recommend it for such use only (more on that later). As for gaming, the lag is really great. I have an Epson 3020 from around 2013 I purchased back then, in comparison it has a small lag between input and what you see, very small but still there. On this PX700HD it is much less noticeable and even without *gaming mode on I could not easily tell. Please note I was playing mainly RPGs, Mario Tennis and a couple of other action games. For competitive FPS or Fighters may require *Gaming Mode. *Gaming Mode on will require you to not have any lense shift or any other changes in projector. The moment you change a setting, which for me I had the projector elevated, defaults any horizontal and vertical shifts I made therefore making it impossible to use. Movies looked great. Watching shows looked great as well. THE BIGGEST draw for me to this projector was the Super Eco Mode at 12,000 hours. However enabling this eco mode completely dims the light. You must use this mode in near complete darkness. In comparison, a $60 projector I have that has 12k hours is equivalent in brightness (or dimness for that matter) to Super Eco Mode. For shows, its good especially if youre multitasking while a show is playing in the back, or talk/sports show. However you DO NOT want to use this in longer gaming sessions or movies for that matter. The dimness at times makes it too hard to see what is going on, especially in dark scenes. Therefore I recommend using Eco Mode or Dynamic Eco mode. An odd issue I was also having with this projector was in Super Eco Mode the video would be bright enough at times then dim extremely dark. It was happening so often after awhile I kept it at Eco Mode. In certain games the projector also had a hard time adjusting to background brightness in both the normal Eco and Dynamic Mode. During a play session in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 where there is time changes from day to night, certain areas especially in towns the projector could not handle the sun rising or setting as the projector would display the sun too bright or dim it too much. I never have this issue with my Epson 3020. The colors between the two are also incomparable as the Epson model completely out performs the PX700HD in every way and I do not include this in my rating as they are also in two different price brackets but thought I should include my experience. Eco Mode on my Epson is also as bright, if not brighter than PX700HD in Normal. My last experience is the rainbow effect of DLPs. I had an Optoma DLP over a decade ago and I know this is an issue for some but I was okay with it. In the ViewSonic I was mainly having issues with in Breath of the Wild and pretty much any Anime subbed. The issue came because whenever a bubble would pop over someones head in BOTW I could NEVER read it. It would be too blurry from the rainbow effect. Anything White Texted would get this effect. And so in Anime this was an issue as much of the text used is either yellow or white. Areas with White Lights is the same. Playing through a game and walking into a room with lights it was more than obvious. Because anime is bright, youll also get this effect easily in bright white scenes. In conclusion it is going to be up to your use. If you are fine with watching shows and movies only (minus subbed or CC) youll have a great time with this projector. If you wish to use this in gaming and want to play something such as Overwatch or any FPS or Tekken/SF, make sure youll have this project completely even. I MUST ALSO ADD that Super Eco Mode is disabled in Game Mode. Infact I believe Eco Mode is as well as it resets everything to default (please correct me if I am wrong about Eco Mode). There is also an issue with the overhang, it displays brightly on the left and right sides of the projector screen and does not line up correctly to a screen so make sure you have nothing reflective outside your screen if its on a wall (of course if youre outside you wont notice it if its not projector on or near a wall). This may very well be the only time I can neither recommend nor not recommend this item as it is entirely up to the individuals usage. For me personally, I could not continue using it. Additionally, I had a couple of issues of the fan not shutting off and having to unplug it. I am thankful for Amazons return policy. For me, I will most likely just get an HDMI splitter and split between my cheap projector for sports talk shows, anime and late night slow gaming and the Epson for movies. Thank you for reading!

I’ve done a lot of research and this is definitely one of the best purchases I made. Because of the size and shape of my living room, I had to get a short throw projector to make the image fit my 100” screen from about 5 ft away. The projector is pretty bright even during the day. I like the 3X fast input feature that makes the gameplay more responsive. I can also connect my phone, or laptop directly to the USB-C to mirror my screen. The built-in speaker also produces decent sound that I don’t need to use external speakers. Pros: Bright Short Throw Quiet Decent built-in speaker USB-C connection with power Auto keystone Low input lag and gaming mode Cons: Remote is not backlit No horizontal keystone No USB type-A power Overall: I highly recommend this product for any home entertainment system and it works great if you have limited space.

ive filed a claim to return mine. these are my impressions after 388 lamp hours. my only previous projector was the acer h5360, a now discontinued 720p 2500 ansii lumen projector. the good: its 1080p, and BRIGHT. in a well lit room with windows, i dont have much of an issue watching during the day time. i played through all of red dead redemption 2, and watched a lot of shows. having a second hdmi input is a really nice plus. my old projector would throw a 100 inch picture, while this one throws 120 inches from the same distance. the remote is nicer than my last projectors. the disappointing: the biggest glaring problem for me is the large black border that surrounds the picture. not noticeable during the day time, but if you like watching movies in a dark room, it stands out a LOT, because the blacks on the projector are really bad. if this projector just had really good blacks, this wouldnt be an issue and i might not be returning it. buyer beware. i reached out to the manufacture to make sure this wasnt just a defect with mine, and they confirmed this is how its intended to look. whenever the projector is is showing white (or close to white) pixels, the top and left of that area will have a thin green line, maybe 1 wide or tall. its not noticeable in most areas of the screen unless you decide to look for it, but any time the white there is a bright scene that goes all the way to the edge, youre going to notice that green line either at the top or left of the screen. i spoke to another owner of this projector and they confirmed the same issue with theirs. the projector will not remember that you muted the on board speaker from your previous time when you turn it on. i dont really notice it over my sound bar, but if i need to mute my sound bar, the projector will continue to play sound until you mute the projector. the normal color settings make reds really bright. the gaming color setting displayed reds correctly. i wouldnt really recommend this for a home theater, but if you want a 1080p projector thats only going to be used in well lit rooms from a manufacture with a good warranty program, this might be the one for you at the price.

I must have talked with 100 people and read over 1,000 reviews looking for a bright, inexpensive projector for a small film festival were holding for a non-profit in my home town. I made the mistake of throwing away $140 on a piece of junk that barely outshines a flashlight before deciding to pull the trigger on the PX700HD. I had a Viewsonic projector years ago, and it was rock solid. I hear their warranty support is good too. Heres the skinny: PROS: * Full HD (1920x1080p) on a screen up to 300-inches * 3500 Lumens (that is "marketing" not ANSI Lumens, but its still darn bright) * Viewsonics SuperColor technology shows an amazingly bright white, even on my beige test wall! * SuperEco mode supposedly will get you 15,000 hour lamp life. I HATE Eco mode, so Ill let you know * The fan is surprisingly quiet! * Stereo mini-jack out... AND IN! * 3-year limited parts and labor coverage plus 1-year of lamp coverage (US-based support) * 2 HDMI, USB, VGA inputs, plus a few cables included. It has powered USB for your Fire stick too. * Remote Control comes with AAA batteries * This is a STEAL for $499 CONS: * No lens cap. The lens is recessed, but its nice to keep dust/film away from the lens as much as possible. * The speakers stink on all projectors and most TVs. * No wireless connectivity or Bluetooth. I didnt need that anyways. And it is a budget projector. * I hate beige. Just a pet peeve. Overall, its super bright with full native HD and incredible colors for a DLP. Dont take my word for it - watch my video that compares this $499 "day and night" 3500 Lumen PX700HD against a bargain basement $140 "3600 Lumen" projector. The difference is literally night and day.

The short throw distance made setup a breeze. I put this on my coffee table in the living room and it gave me 100” from less than 5’ away. This projector is bright, and the color is amazing. It also has this 3X fast input feature built-in for fast action games. I tried street fighter on my PS4 and felt really responsive with no lag at all. I highly recommend this projector for gaming and movies.

This projector is INCREDIBLE! I have it currently projecting on a grey wall in our family room (screen being built) and it still looks stunning. I turned on the projector to get a rough sense of where to hang it from the ceiling and I was amazed by the color accuracy and brightness WITH 3 overhead lights on in the room; maybe Im just use to business projectors needing to control ambient light to project an image? The image I provided in this review is on the grey/satin wall I mentioned above, which has imperfections on the surface. NO changes were made to the color/brightness/image whatsoever (straight out of the box!). I WAS AMAZED! Couldnt be more please with this projector!!! LOVE IT!!

Overall, this is a fine projector. Easy to use, with a clear bright image. I love how quickly it starts up and shuts down! (No waiting forever for the bulb to cool down.) A couple little issues that are somewhat disappointing: (1) there is no lens cover or cap for the lens. Why not? (2) The keystone adjuster gets the screen close to "square" - but no matter how much I try adjusting the projector or the keystone knobs, I cant seem to get it perfectly square: the image will either have a slight keystone look or bend slightly to one direction. It is slight, so if one overlaps the image just a little over the black border on the screen, then he wont notice this factor because the bent edges of the image will disappear against the black background. Apart from this, I would probably give the projector 5 stars.

I am not an A.V. specialist. I have had projectors in my basement, garage, and office though. The brightness and clarity is a wow for me and everyone that comes over. I literally have come out of the dark and can watch t.v. even with the lights on. I do have them dimmed but it has been nice to be able to see and talk with people while still getting a great picture. Still better in the dark but definitely watchable with some light. The unit is quiet and easy to set up. The price for the product makes this a great deal. If you like a big picture this is the way to go. I have a 10 (diagonal).
