I did a lot of research before buying this projector. I settled on this versus the ViewSonic LS820 (cheaper) or LG HF85JA (brighter and cheaper). I was a little hesitant because I knew I wanted at least a 120 inch screen and this projector was only rated at 100inch. I saw in some other reviews that you could go larger if the projector was lower to the ground, so I gambled and gave it a try. Overall the quality is excellent. I am able to get a 150inch screen with this projector. There is some distortion on the left which cant be corrected once you go that large. It kind of looks like a folded paper effect. However, if youre watching a movie, this is basically unnoticeable. The distance for the 150inch image is about 34 inches to the back of the projector to the wall. The brightness is also quite excellent. Definitely watchable in daylights (without ceiling lights). I docked a star for the following cons: 1. The startup time is unbareable at times. It takes about 15-20 seconds to for a picture after laying there for a while. So if youre use to turning on your TV and expecting it to play, dont expect that behavior here. It gets worse if you try to turn it on right before turning it off. It takes about a minute for it to come back on in that case. Not cool, but this is a projector. I believe if it was a true laser projector, this would have been instantaneous. 2. The UI interface is confusing and not very intuitive. Im a tech guy so I dont mind so much, but dont expect anyone else to enjoy using it. 3. No way that I am aware of yet to turn this on/off using Alexa (or Google Home). Would be nice to have some sort of home automation with this. 4. No bluetooth 5. Lifespan with DLP bulbs (laser would have been about 20K hours) Like I said though, Im satisfied with this purchase. I really wanted a laser projector for the instant on capability, or one that supported bluetooth speakers, but I settled on this one since the technology is starting to get better and cheaper (xiaomi mi laser). Once something better comes along, I wont feel so bad because this one was relatively cheap. The next project is to see about building a screen for it. I was originally looking into getting some CLR material, but with this brightness, I dont think I need it so much.

After a lot of research, I found the GT5600 to be my top choice and I have not been disappointed. Do to shipping restrictions, I paired it with a DIY projector screen from Carls Place. I must say that even with the cheapest foldable material, I am happy with the results. Once I return stateside I may upgrade to UST ALR material. I am projecting a 100" diagonal screen with the back of the unit about 12" away. The brightness of the display is enough to not be bothered even when the room lights are on. I specifically wanted a unit that can handle 60-240v without a step-up or step-down converter, and this was one of the few UST 1080P projectors (with < 0.3 ratio) on the market that stated it on the specifications. This unit has many helpful features that make screen setup a much easier process. I hook it up directly to a surround sound receiver through a single HDMI cable and allow my receiver to handle all my input needs. I now have over 120 hours of usage and have not encountered any issues with it nor have I experienced any type of buyers remorse.

Completely satisfied with this purchase. Ran with an Arc to sound bar so it turns on all by itself as soon as you pop the Tivo button! Perfect for what I wanted. Mounted above the screen so the floor space below is totally open for traffic. No shadows....ever! Kick on the HTPC and it picks up instantly switching to the computer. Attached a pic ... GORGEOUS!

I bought 8 of these for an art installation. It is the shortest throw projector anywhere near this price range. Very bright and helps get huge images in tight places.

I really like this ultra short throw projector. It doesnt have all the latest technology like Wifi or Bluetooth, but it does what it does very well. I watched this unit waiting for the price to drop, got it for $999. It was hovering around $1099 for the longest and recently went up for over $2000!! I dont like it enough to spend more than $1099 max. The built in speaker is pathetic, but I didnt buy it for the speakers. Make sure you get some external speakers. The fan can be loud, especially in bright or dynamic settings, however I run it at eco+ setting and the fan noise is much lower and the image quality is just fine. Possibly my projector screen which has a 1.1 gain is helping here. Its rated for 100 inch, but I am using it with 110 inch screen with no perceivable distortion. Attached picture is on a 110 inch Elite Screen AR110WH2 which I also recommend. In the attached pictures, I have a two pictures each of red bird with lights out and lights on (7 65 watt recessed lights), and I used both eco+ and bright settings, thus two pictures each. I cant tell a difference in the pictures between eco+ and bright. In person you can see the difference slightly. Im guessing ECO+ knocks of 10-15% of the lumens, and it helps with fan noise and I imagine heat output. The unit does product a lot of heat overall. Once I got the projector aligned to the projector screen, the only thing I find myself doing is turning the projector on and off. 110 inch viewing area for under $1500 including the screen is a good value to me. My table and sound system cost me another $975 combined. All my inputs to go my Onkyo receiver, and the projector gets a single hdmi feed from that.

No one is mentioning the light border. Once set up... There is still a fixed light border that is not part of the image, yet is light enough to show. So, going left to right. Wall, light border,screen border,screen (as seen in pic 2 and even the bottom border on pic 1) I might be able to forgive that, but the screen is currently 92 inches, and in focus EXCEPT for the lower left. No focal adjustment, and keystoning isnt a help either. (Pic 1.. note the print. The in focus to out of focus is only about 2 ft apart. And its only that corner)

I am not sure what but I came home to realized the screen looks like this. I turned it off and on and it was still the same. Ironically if I took off my HDMI devices the actual projector screen looks stable. Ya! You are thinking it is your HDMI device (Chrome Cast and Amazon Fire TV). Nope! the devices are fine, they work fine on my LG TV and anywhere else and were working fine on this projector which is less than 20 days old until now. Not sure if anyone has experienced this. The projector takes quite a while to come on. Sometimes I think it is not even on then it shows up. Just takes its sweet time coming on but once it comes on it is bright enough such that any light in the room will hardly have any effect compared to my previous LG UST 1000ust projector. This projector throws some heat, you can probably use it as a heater if you like (jk). I would be happy with this but right now I am skeptical due to what I have seen with the screen. I ended up fixing it by resetting the projector back to factory default then it began working normally again. Less than 30 days of purchase is too early to do this so I am thinking of getting rid of it

VERY impressed with this unit, just received it today. It was very well packaged and the projector was extremely protected. Simply a plug and play set up, took minutes before I was watching the hockey game! Clarity is amazing, unit is about 9.5 inches away from the wall (wall to start of projector) and I have an HD a image thats roughly 6.5ft by 3.5ft! Hope it lasts, I bought the 4 year plan just in case. The redsox picture is with the light on in my room, even in a lit room the picture is great!

I recently purchased a Polaroid UST. Not having a UST before, I thought the picture was decent enough; however thankfully, the Polaroid started going haywire within a month. Long story, but I bounced between a refund and a replacement. I chose the refund and took a chance on the Optoma. In short, I cant believe my eyes! The Polaroid was essentially at the same price point and the picture isnt even comparable-far superior. Also, USTs work best on fixed framed screens. I have a motorized screen (not compatible for USTs) and the screen waves with the Polaroid have been significantly reduced- to a point youd have to be a real audio visual snob to complain. My wife agrees! Its not just me: The Optoma unit is amazing! If a UST is on your wish list and youre not certain what you want to buy in the $1200 price range, Id recommend this unit 7 days of the week. My only complaint is the audio option. I had to buy a separate unit to manage the audio signal for my Roku. Im a cord cutter so getting sling is essential. The speaker on the unit isnt anything special. Overall, its awesome!!!!

This unit gives a nice sharp picture, however the colors seem just a little off and no amount of adjustment seems to fix this. The brightness is wonderful with lights on and you can see the image clearly. The images have a slight greenish hue sometimes and I keep it in game or cinema mode. there is no focus adjustment but it comes out of the box pretty well calibrated. The unit is heavy so make sure you have a sturdy stand for it to sit on. I would consider getting a laser projector if you want better color accuracy and longer bulb life. All in all its not bad for one of the cheaper ultra short throws available right now. I will likely return it to get something with better color accuracy but Im picky.
