While the product description infers otherwise (i.e., calling this an "upgraded" DVD player with "2K/4K upscaling for use with ultra HD TVs...") this is not a 4K DVD player. It will not recognize a 4K disk at all. Sonys tech support staff confirmed this, and told me to just play the Blu-Ray disk. I played the Blu-Ray disk and the picture is not only not 4K (or "nearly 4K"), but the Blu-Ray picture is not particularly good either. (I have a new ultra HD 4K TV.) Sonys tech support suggested that if I want 4K, then they referred me to two other models...
