Cheap construction. The remote control is not intuitive at all, and the buttons dont depress cleanly or reliably. The machine takes quite a while to start up, even in quick-start mode. My biggest annoyance, however, is that it turns off -- completely off -- whenever the video is paused for 20 minutes. When I come back, I must restart the video as if Id removed the disc. That is, I have to wait for the several FBI warnings, navigate through the screens, and manually find the place where Id left off watching the program. In practice, this means that if I get up to make tea, I cant stop and chat with my friend for a few minutes. "Sorry. I have to get back to my DVD player so that it doesnt shut off." According to the manual, there is no way to change or bypass the auto-off "feature." Sonys response to the concern raised on that site shows their complete disregard for customers. I will never buy a Sony product again. (Like an idiot, I used to regard both Sears and Sony as reputable companies. No more.)

In my experience this player has a lot of bugs from updating firmware to which Blu Rays it will play and wont play. Initially it worked fine for Region A and B blu-rays but now will not recognize any Region B discs. I wasted 200.00 dollars on this. I could kick myself so learn from my mistake move on to another player and company. Totally dissatisfied!

TV image has a noise pattern throughout display (with or without disk) and the sound has static when DVDs are played back. I tried two HDMI cables and rebooted player and TV none of which helped. Returning unit.

Stay away from this unit at ANY cost. When the 1st unit arrived it seemed to work really well. I would have given it an A+ for the 1st few weeks. Great picture quality and the apps were cool. Then about the 3rd week the unit didnt always want to connect to the wi-fi. All the other wi-fi electronics we have operated fine so the wi-fi unit was up and running. Then the unit wouldnt power up or power down without unplugging it 1st then reconnecting. Amazon replaced it. The 2nd unit started the same symptoms after a couple months. Sent it back. The 3rd unit operated fine for about 6 months and then it too started the same glitches. If only 1 unit had done this I would feel that I got a lemon at 1st, but having 3 units and they all 3 had issues Id say Sony must have a lot of complaints. Yes I know the ratings are good but Im betting the reviews mostly were uploaded early into the usages.
