The only problem with this machine is simply there. there is NO LIGHT or anything to indicate if the thing is actually on or not...

Very good compact Blu-Ray DVD player. It plays both Blu Ray and regular DVDs perfectly. It lost one star (almost lost two), because theres no indicator light for when its on. What is so difficult about adding an "on" indicator light? A very poor oversight on Samsungs part IMO.

The DVD player is fine; the cable that came with it wasnt. Once my young neighbor figured out that this was the problem, I replaced the cable and am now very satisfied.

This is a replacement for a great LG DVD player I had for 12 years. This one is so compact and light weight compared to the older DVD players. As noted by other reviewers, I am taking off 1 star because it does not have an on light. It is super easy to set up and operate. The on-screen menu is intuitive. Overall, if you can tolerate not having an LED light indicating the unit turned on, it is a very nice DVD player at a very nice price point.

I went through a torturous year with two Sony Blu-Ray players until I gave up on Sony and bought this Samsung. It works! How much more do I need to say. I dont have to reset it every day. I turn it on and it works. I think I get better sound separation with the Samsung over the Sony, but that could be personal preference. The only negative I have with this player is with the software. There is no "response" when I click on, say, the Netflix button. After a second Netflix will start up, but without some kind of visual response to show that i clicked the button, sometimes Im not sure it clicked until the program starts. It would be nice to have a visual clue that that the machine did receive the signal from the remote. This is something I think could be improved via a firmware update.

Works great. The only thing I would change is to have an on /off light. I knew about that problem before I ordered it,(from other reviews) so I cant really complain.

like others have said the hdmi cable that comes with it is junk, once you get a working cable the player it self displays a beautiful picture, the best part is you can easily switch from blue ray disk to dvd to cd. The sound comes thru grate, nice to hear interviews.

We have a Samsung TV and wanted the Samsung player because it should work seamlessly with the TV. This does. As noted, it does not have a light to indicate it is on or off, but other than that small issue, it works perfectly with our TV. Since we have a Samsung, we can control TV volume and HDMI input from the remote for this unit, which makes it convenient when moving from a cable channel to a DVD. Picture quality is great, and setup was a snap. Just hooked it up to the HDMI input and started it and it played perfectly well.
