This is a great product! This is probably the first time I bought a product that was under rated by its own sellers? I have owned several BR Players and this by far, for what I paid, is the best ever. I have spent $400 plus on several BRPs. They were complicated to operate, to many options! Spent to much time verifying options each time I used them? and they all broke within two years! I was very disappointed to say the least. Deciding to analyze my Blue Ray player "Needs", I decided I didnt really need all the bells and whistles (Extra settings I didnt understand anyhow). I just needed something to play my BRs, DVDs and other media. I was quite pleased with the available media capabilities of this particular device and for under $70 bucks too! My TV like most these days does what my new BR Player cannot, which isnt much at all. And its much simpler to use. Its simple, has a great user interface, very self explanatory. Out the box, software updated and operating in under 5 minutes. Simplicity, I Love It!! My old BRP had so many adjustments I wasnt ever sure if I had them configured correctly causing me to adjust things constantly. This BRP, out the box provides a perfect picture, great sound, and as I already said many media options including Wireless internet access. Its truly Plug-nPlay. I will buy again. Great for people who like simple operation without the need to adjust "things" all the time like maybe a teen would do. I should have bought this thing years ago but like most I thought at the time because it cost more the quality was better, because it had all these user interface options it was worth the extra $$, and of course...the more expensive the better...I discovered none of this was TRUE by any means! It may be under $70 but it operates better than the one I paid $400+ on!! Oh Well....live and learn I guess??? I know Quality dictates a higher price be paid with most things. Not true here. I searched reviews up and down and never found a viable convincing review for a BR/DVD player. Most I read spoke to the "Technology" incorporated into the unit which in my head equalled "More money and more aggravating to use". Hope this review helps some one thats looking for a simple but modern BR/DVD player maybe go for this one, Its a good choice for baby boomers and the "Tech" savvy alike in my opinion.

Works perfect! Also if you are trying to hook up a surround sound using the digital out coaxil if trying to hook up red and white audio you need a digital to analog converter. I had one and to hook up the digital rac coaxial i didnt have a digtial single cable so i separated a male red and white rca cabel to a single white rca cable hooked to the digital coaxil cable out hook up it up to the digital to analog converter ran a the red in white rca to the converter to the surroun sound and works like a charm. Thats only if you need to run a red and white rca cable do you need a rca digital to analog converter but if you have a surround sound sound bar that has the single digital out then you only need to run a single rca cable to the sound bar with out a digital converter but if your surround sound or sound bar useses the red white rca then you need a digital to analog converter. Hope that helps.

This is a nice streaming DVD player. The problems I have with it is: #1 no power light as other customers have noted and yes, it can be frustrating especially when you are first setting it up., and #2) the DVD will save your last known play spot when you turn the machine off so it is discouraging to have to find it each time. I have not yet tried playing CDs on it, and #3) because it is slightly curved if it gets turned a little bit off of center the remote will not always work. The apps that come installed with it are: Hulu, YouTube, AccuWeather, Netflix, Opera TV Store, Pandora, YuppTV, Vudu, and HotList. Since I wanted to stream Amazon Prime also through this, I had to first unregister my other streaming device on my TV and then I could register this player as my streaming source; wished I could have kept both since each device offered some different apps but Amazon will not allow that.

Like many reviewers I too have had trouble connecting this baby to the internet and getting the You Tube app to work, which was the main reason I eventually choose this model. It seems that I can only get the you tube app to work if there is a disc in the drive. When I have tried to use the you tube app without a disk in the drive it doesnt work, but when I watch part of a DVD then go to the you tube app, success every time. I have not used the amazon, Hulu or other apps because Im not really that interested. My main interest was watching the British sci-fi series Blakes 7, a show I had only previously seen a few episodes. I also had some Blu-ray/DVD combos I had not watched and also bought myself the Blu-ray version of Doctor Who: Spearhead from Space. (Can you tell Im an anglophile yet?). Discs play with no problems and as I stated it seems to solve the issue of the apps not working.

I miss not having an on/off light. Recently the "smart" aspect leaves my wanting because it keeps dropping my internet connection so I cant watch Netflix or Amazon Prime without continual resetting it. Several times it locked up my TV and I had to unplug the unit before I could even watch cable TV. I keep getting an "update software" request and if I indicate "yes" it starts the process and then stops before completion. I would not buy this unit again. UPDATE: After about 6 months of use it stopped working completely and I have to replace it.

So far it is working fine - easy to setup, seems to play original DVDs and copies. Navigating the Apps seems to work fine. Allowed us to get rid of one of our Roku boxes, which are slowing dying one at a time. 1/8/18: Well had this about 4 months now. Frst really annoying thing is, no power indicator on unit. Wouldnt really be that big of deal if unit didnt keep locking up and refusing to power up - only real way to know is if it responds to a load disc command, when it doesnt, unplug and plug back in, and that usually remedies issue but a real pain digging behind cabinet. Now as of late, it has started turning off during play. Sometimes, unplugging/ plugging back in brings it back but of course you have to find where in movie you left off. Sometimes wont comeback on right away - usually will at some point, typically when youve lost all interest in watching anything more at that time. Im returning it - luckily bought a SquareTrade warranty because my experience with any DVD player has been disappointing - at least this way I get my money back (minus cost of warranty) and will try something different. This is one of two of this model I have - the other blanks out video intermittently during play but always recovers. Does so randomly - sometimes more frequent, like every 20 - 30 seconds for 2 - 3 seconds at a time. beginning to think no one manufactures a decent DVD player anymore.

I only use Samsung devices for the excellent connectivity. That said, this thing is a piece of garbage. Couple months in it cant connect to the internet, then it doesnt see the wifi. Then it connects. Then an hour later connects to the wifi but not the internet. Ive hard reset it, changed network settings, reverted back to a previous software version and undone updates and even reset to all factory defaults and started from scratch with NO RESULTS. Its so frustrating and out of character for a Samsung product. But they definitely failed on this one.

No, no, no. Works fine as a Blue-ray player, the whole wireless connectivity issues make it useless for anything else. Ive gone through 2 units already through RMA. The same thing happens every time. This thing will act totally confused after a month or two. "Wi-Fi, what wifi?". Wont connect, acts like its lost its MAC address....just dumb. RMAing will just get you another wifi card in the unit. It will work and then it wont work. Everything else in my house connects and maintains internet connectivity but this.

This is the most frustrating piece of electronics Ive ever owned. It plays blu ray disks beautifully, However, Ive spent about 6 hours trying but it simply will not connect to wifi, while my laptop is connected to my wifi in the same room (and so is my iPhone). I bought this so I wouldnt have to mess with cables and it is utterly useless. Unless someone from Samsung contacts me in the next few days Im returning this, and after reading of the abysmal customer service on this item I will not waste time trying to contact them. Paying for this kind of aggravation is like handing someone cash to kick me in the b***s.

Hate it. It needs lights to indicate status. I cant get it to turn on or eject a dvd, thats if its really on. Ive pressed the off/on button so many times, I honestly dont know whether it is off or on. Very frustrating.
