I would have given a 5 star rating but it is difficult to know when the disc player is on or off. There is no light on the machine to tell you if it is on. I have to push the power button and then push the open/retract to see if I remembered to turn it off when I used it last. Plays very well and I have no complaints about the quality of the picture. Maybe Im being petty but I think that Samsung could have put a light in it when the power button is pushed on.

Had it a couple weeks, watched several blu ray movies, and it works just as it is supposed to. Easy to hook up to the tv with the included cable. I dont plan to hook it up to the cable internet. The remote has about 40 buttons on it, more actually, in a space about two by six inches if that, so its tight. While I dont know how to use all of them yet, it was quick to figure out those you need to know in order to turn it on and off, run a movie in it, pause, fast forward, eject, etc. I ran a test movie on it within a couple minutes of hooking up the cable and plugging it in. This is my first blu ray player and the picture is great. It replaced a DVD player that I bought at a Blockbuster (remember those?) more than 20 years ago. I hope this unit lasts a while.

The player seems to work fine but was obviously pre-used. The box was retaped inexpertly, and the batteries were already loaded in the remote. I also did not receive the HDMI cable that was supposed to be included or the cleaning cloth. Shabby operation. I gave it a 3 because the player does at least work.

This is an okay product, but a couple very simple things make it very frustrating to work with sometimes. For starters there is no light at all on the blu-ray player... it is a black box with two buttons. There is no way to look at the player and see if it is on or off, or to even confirm that it has power! This makes it very hard to troubleshoot when the player doesnt work as expected. My only other complaint is the user interface of the remote... it seemingly has two power buttons? One on the top left and another on the top right. It is not an intuitive experience.

We are very pleased with purchase of the Samsung BD-J5100 Blu-Ray Disc Player. We have watched several Blu-Ray Discs and enjoyed the video and sound. We have accessed the internet and viewed You-Tube with no difficulty. Our only complaint is that we could not access the internet through our wi-fi modem. We had to contact Samsung to learn this. Once we connected a ethernet cable, all was fine.

We have DVDs (gifts) our old Apex cannot read. This blu-ray can read them. Picture quality is very good. The included HDMI cable is I think Vivitar, six feet long with gold contacts. That plus the capabilities of the set justify the cost. I whined about price because I needed to pay shipping, tax, conversion, and conversion fee. If I bought in Canada the shipping would already have occurred in bulk and I dont need to convert currency. It seemed like the best value on the Amazon website and I needed to buy something there. This fit the bill perfectly. The website made it easy to find the product. The shipping delay was less than the upper range promised. I think thats 100 percent perfect delivery.

Works great was a quick plug and play to my Samsung tv and the remotes are all interchangeable. Thus the benefits of having an all Samsung house. I love it would buy it again.

I made the mistake of not paying attention to the fact that this is NOT a wifi enabled blu ray player, but thats my bad. I assumed everything is wi-fi now, and didnt think twice about that not being the case. We cant use the app features without wi-fi or doing some pretty serious work to our in-home network (dont get me started on home builders) The player itself is nice, and the picture is really good. Itll probably end up in a kids room at some point though since we cant use the apps and thats really what we bought it for. Again thats nothing against the player itself, that is my fault. I dont want to send it back because of that though. Its great that it came with a HDMI cable also!

It did work but read carefully. Its NOT WiFi but hard wired. In watching "Avatar The Movie" (the only Blu Ray watched as of this review) it stuttered a number of time when moving from one chapter to the next. Menu options were limited as were the smart features. By that I assume they mean what streaming apps were available... Not many. I would recommend spending a bit more and getting something a bit more current.

Pathetic for the price. Kept turning off and on by itself when not in use. No on/off light.
