I bought this to watch some blu rays and DVDs that I bought while living overseas in Germany a few years ago. I bought this player because it was cheap and advertised as region-free, which would allow me to watch both my region A and B movies/shows. I tried playing one of my region B blu rays and immediately got an error code, saying that the disc was not compatible with the player. In short, the player is NOT region-free. I had no problems at all with the construction nor quality of the player, but it couldnt do the one thing I originally bought it for, hence the low rating.

This LG item was lightly used. It was used infrequently every few weeks. The quirks were tolerable at first but became more bothersome as time progressed. If I had used it more frequently in the beginning its failure would have occurred before closure of the return window. The failure I speak of includes lock-ups, failure to read discs consistently and an eject mechanism that works on occasion.

Own another one of these that was bought new almost 2 years ago and love it, however this one does not work... Sent messages to the seller as no matter what tv try it on will not playback more than 10 seconds and then freezes, but have yet to receive and kind of a response back... Not sure I will ever buy refurbished again and should have spent the little extra and bought new...

Would not maintain wireless network connection with brand new Xfinity Gigabit modem/router less than 20 feet away with clear line of sight, nor would the unit power off with the remote OR the power button on the unit itself - it had to be unplugged from the wall to power down. LG has lost a customer for life, 2nd unit in a row Ive purchased with similar aggravating issues. Never again.

Disc operation is good but Netflix and Amazon apps are laggy and freeze often. Unit is 15 feet from WIFI router and its still laggy. You need to unplug to unfreeze. Also Amazon app was hard to find. Only a couple of apps are visible on the quick launch menu. The others are buried in the menu with no easy instructions on how to find them.

Disc player developed a problem within the first month or so of using. It would randomly stop at which point youd have to press play again to start it. Dont buy without the Assurance plan.

DO NOT BOTHERED STAY AWAY. Player stopped working after 15, loud noise, and does not release dvd unless unplug and restart. This is constant with every play. Be aware of reimbursement for return and restocking fee. Lucky to get half your money back. TERRIBLE!!!
