This is a printer with good potential. Lets hope the customer service can fix what Im about to say: 1- Upon receiving it, there is no way to wirelessly connect it to a router as it is in the box. And I have a degree in computer science so this is no user error! You have to have a cable to manually download and install a firmware (which you can only find after extensive searching online) and only after all that (which took me about an hour and lots of frustration) you can start printing wirelessly... 2- There is a problem with paper feeder in this machine. ALL, and I mean EVERY SINGLE PAGE that comes out is bent exactly in two places on both sides of the paper near the 1/3 mark of the height. Its beyond annoying to have a fresh print have a huge, ugly dent in it... Opening and closing the feeder doesnt solve the problem. Using other paper thicknesses is also not helpful.

This printer puts you in an abusive relationship, because it tempts you into thinking that if you "treat it right" it will reward you by "acting sane for a few days." This may be a glowing possibility, yet it is always, alas, a dark lie. The print quality itself is the come-on: it is very good, for a few pages. But the cartridges for these printers are utter junk. The cartridges for this machine are designed to fail, I think, after testing more than one set. I predict--but do know know for sure--that they were designed this way to dissuade people from refilling them. But even at their "best," the cartridges (even the "XL" size) are tiny, run out in a maddeningly short space of time, and are prone to lapses in ink flow that are apparently caused by the cartridges diabolical sensitivity to air bubbles in their chambers. I briefly thought a priming pump might solve these issues, but no. Throwing this into a black hole and getting a model of printer that has refill tanks is my plan. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE IF YOU HAVE THE REMOTEST DREAM OF REFILLING ITS CARTRIDGES. Yet, and please beware--and cross the street when you see this thing tempt you, that-- even new, the cartridges may fail. The tri-color single cartridge is especially maddening, as often one color will abruptly stop flowing. This printer is one of the rogues gallery of technical criminals of our era priced cheap but designed to fail to provoke you to buy other other junk (cartridges) associated with it. Avoid this. On principle, I would say avoid all HP products.

I have had "fair to OK" luck with previous HP printers, but HP seems to have ditched its line of Photo Smart printers and focused on making a smaller line of printers better. I dont know how long it will last, but so far I am very happy with the responsive color screen, the fast / quiet printing, and the double sided printing works like butter. I goes to sleep when not using it...a big plus, and wakes itself up when needed. The scanner is quick, quiet, and not blinding bright like the old ones. I may update this review in the future if needed, but as I said...so far so good. I am more than happy with this printer (in fact now that I think about it, it is probably the first printer Ive have that it a joy to use. jan. 2015

Total piece of crap, works on wireless for awhile and then simply quits. The printer would show the solid blue light as being online but the laptop would show it as being offline. Reset everything and worked OK for a few days, then same thing happened. Googled online fixes and HPs self-help portals are total clusterf*cks, dead links, no links, links that dont take you to where it said it would take you, etc. takes a phd to figure out how to "set static IP" or whatever. It should not be the customers burden to jump through hoops and make the technology work, do yourself a favor and forget this garbage

,The product arrived and I followed the instructions to start the printer, When I came to the section to insert the ink cartridges, the message came that the cartridges were not inserted properly. I repeated the act with the same result. I bought more cartridges and the same result. When I queried the website for advice I was refereed to a tech firm which did not solve the problem but "cleaned" up the computer for a price. I was assured by them the problem was in the computer and not in the printer. I repacked the printer and am returning it to you. After $99 for an unnecessary tech consultation and a non functioning AIO printer, I have bought an Epson at a local store and it works wonderfully. Ronald Berggren

This printer FAILED less than 1 month after its 1 year warranty and after being used very little. After several tests, HP told me it was an internal printer problem that could not be repaired and that they could do nothing to help me as it was out of warranty. I repeat it was just days over 1 year old and had hardly been used. Who would recommend or buy another HP product after an experience like this? I would.........because I have had other HP printers that worked well and a HP laptop that interacts wirelessly with them, plus the price is/was hard to beat. Hopefully this printer was a rare HP lemon, but the customer support and assistance left a foul taste in my mouth and is not a way to develop or maintain customer loyalty.

Whenever I try to print anything, it first tells me that it cannot connect to my computer, even though my computer says its connected. After dealing with that for way too long, it says that there is no wifi connection. There is. Once I finally get that to register, it tells me that Im out of paper. I am not even close to being out of paper. If it decides that I have paper, it will then tell me that something is blocking the photo tray. There is nothing blocking the photo tray. Next, it might print one of two or more pages, but then start saying Im out of paper again. Also, the text of said page is probably half missing. After that, it will cancel the entire job, and I have to start all over again. If Im suuuper lucky, Ill get a nice paper jam and have to deal with that for awhile. No paper. Blocked photo tray. No wifi. No paper. Blocked photo tray. Job cancelled. No paper. Blocked photo tray. Paper jam. No paper in photo tray, which Im not even using and is also full of photo paper. It also prints TERRIBLE photos. Just really really poor quality. Friends, today it took me nearly 40 minutes to print two pieces of black & white text. I frightened my animals with crazed yelling, I broke a nail and very, VERY nearly threw the stupid thing out my sixth story window. And then...AND THEN...said printer informed me that Im almost out of ink, even though the ink cartridges are also brand new and Ive only used this heinous rotten printer a handful of times. I want to smash it. SMASH!!!

Terrible. I have had issues with this printer since day one. Called HP and spent an hour and a half on the phone, they took over my computer remotely to try to figure out what was wrong but werent able to figure out why my photos are printing foggy. They blamed it on the paper, the ink, the program, etc. But after trying new ink, three different brand of paper, numerous different printing programs, they admitted something is wrong but did nothing about it. Now I am stuck with a printer that is worthless. They should have replaced this printer but did nothing. I have been buying hp printers for years but now moving on to another brand that might give better support and service.

Ive owned my HP 5660 for a year now & have mixed feelings. As far as functionality goes my experience is consistent with that of most reviewers - it works pretty well and is generally easy to use. I have had the same glitch that others report per the scanning function - problematic. The BIG downside is ink consumption with the overpriced and over-promised HP ink replacement packs. The first issue is even the "XL" sizes come nowhere close to the promised sheet print. Second they are obscenely expensive ranging from $35-50 for each XL, black & color depending on purchase source. At first I tried the non-XL sizes that were $15-20 each, but their capacity rating is not AT ALL realistic. HP really tries to rope you into their auto ink order program for about $3 a month ($36 yearly without ink) and I havent found this to be transparent nor am I convinced an honest savings exists here. Im at my tipping point and am experimenting with HP remanufactured ink carts at less than half the price of the regular HP ink to see if I can make this affordable. If that doesnt work Im changing printers as being a low print volume home user (no photos, very simplistic use) and having to buy vastly over-priced ink every time I turn around doesnt make this a good long term investment. Hope your experience is better, good luck.

This printer constantly loses wireless connectivity. Its probably one of the worst printers Ive used due to this. Every time I go to print this I have to reinstall the printer completely.
