Let me start with a simple consideration. This printer is designed for small and medium-sized businesses. As such, it has a big footprint that may not fit well in a small home office. Luckily, it works well for our home office. Speaking of its design for businesses, the standard paper tray holds only 250 sheets. If you have a small business, you would likely need to buy the optional 850-sheet auxiliary tray. All the usual features for printers of this sort—document feeder, scanning, etc.—work as expected. In that respect, it is no different from our Brother DCP-7065 DN, a now discontinued black and white multipurpose machine. This printer did not meet my expectations in one respect. Almost all electronics come with a quick set-up guide that I skim through to get started. This is typically all that is needed, especially because using printers and other electronics is pretty intuitive anyway. By contrast, the quick set-up guide for this printer is inadequate. For example, it lists a large plastic strip as one of the items included in the box but never explains what the piece is for. I had to spend time on the Internet and in the full manual to discover its purpose: It’s a dust cover for when the paper tray is extended for legal-size paper. Similarly, I expect the quick guide to tell me what each symbol on the control panel is for. This one does not. I had to hunt again to discover, for example, that the speaker symbol on the touchscreen panel isn’t used to control volume, as one might expect. Indeed, it isn’t even a functioning button. It just indicates that there is a hard to spot mechanical button at the screen’s edge that changes alert sounds for various features. The purpose of the touchscreen symbol for stopping a job, a red triangle inside a red circle, also was not obvious to me. Another complaint: I found the software interface that allowed me to scan from my computer to be unnecessarily complicated. Macs Image Capture is far more intuitive. Luckily, the latter works for this printer, and I will continue to use it. Here’s an example of the difference: Image Capture makes it crystal clear that its default is to scan PDFs as separate sheets. Combining sheets just requires checking a box in the main dialog box. The interface for this printer, however, requires finding another dialog box in a separate location. As far as print quality, my family and I did a test. I printed up five sheets from a photo using this printer and five from my Brother color laser printer (HL-3140CW). Both printers were at their default settings, and I used the color adjust feature on this Canon machine right before printing copies. In blind tests, all my available family members agreed that the Canon copies were washed out compared to the Brother copies. The Brother copies were darker and more vibrant. The difference was very obvious. In sum, this printer largely does its job, but I hated the quick set-up guide, and the color print quality doesn’t match that of a less expensive Brother laser printer. Im deducting a star for these reasons.

Review for: Canon Color Printer class MF741 CDW Malfunction Wireless Mobil Ready Duplex laser https://www.amazon.com/Canon-Color-imageCLASS-MF741Cdw-Multifunction/dp/B07QGXB7R5/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_5?crid=2TB9TJLQLJU90&keywords=canon+color+imageclass+mf741cdw&qid=1557601297&s=gateway&sprefix=canon+imageclass+mf741%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-5-fkmrnull Amazing Canon Color Duplex Printer First of all, right out of the box, the setup of this printer was amazingly easy. There are simple pictorial instructions on the outside flap of the box that show the best way to open the box with the least amount of effort. You can take my word for it when I say that this small office size printer is very heavy, two person lift recommended. When you follow the simple instructions to open the box as mentioned before, unpacking is a breeze and the printer comes right out of the box with minimum effort. I did it all by myself. If unpacking is easy, then getting up the printer up and running is just as easy. You’ll need a good sturdy work surface for the printer to set on because it is rather heavy and you don’t want it moving about. Connect the provided power cord and turn on the printer. After that just follow the easy prompts on the 5 inch color touch screen and the wizard will walk you through the easy setup. If you plan on using the Wi-Fi, be sure to have the necessary connection information available before hand. The color toner cartridge is already installed so that once setup is complete, you’re ready to print. My Windows 10 computer found the printer right away and installed everything that was necessary. After a quick test page, I tried a 9 page article that was saved from online and the resulting document had crisp, clear, and easy to read print with accurate color images with both front and back pages. There are many other features that this amazing printer, scanner, copier has that I haven’t discovered or tried yet, but I know and have confidence that as I try them, they’ll all be as be as satisfying as this initial experience with this printer has been.

I had been in the market for a muti function printer for some time now and decided to take the plunge with the Canon Color ImageClass MF741Cdw. This printer is AMAZING!!!! Install was moderately easy, if you just read the manual and follow the steps. The machine is constructed very well and will last. The printer features a touch screen pad, allows mobile printing, copying, scanning, basic print functions and is wireless enabled. The printer is fast and the print is very clear. When copying the feeder is not super fast but fast enough for a home office or a small business. You are given several different options to customize copies. The paper tray is small, holding approximately 100 -150 pieces of paper. You do have the option to print in color or black and white. I find the printer to be a value and would recommend.

If you have a typical office or home office, you will probably LOVE this printer! Its easy to install, network, and use from all devices - phones, tablets, laptops, and computers. I have a few issues that Im working on resolving if possible, though, via whatever methods possible - hacks, workarounds, etc. and may even resort to calling support or reading the manual! (Kidding, been there, done that!) Our office is not a typical home office. Weve been in web/graphic/programming work for over 20 years, and weve recently added in paper crafts to our repertoire. Yes, as part of our actual business. So, weve always needed a high-quality laser printer for some of our graphics work. This works amazingly on plain laser paper or even photo paper. However, were having trouble with cardstock of any weight over 65#, which is really something many offices dont need, but think - Business Cards, Flyers, and so many more things that need to be printed on thick cardstock. This jams every single time. Problem #2. One of the jobs we need a laser printer to do is print a solid layer of toner for adding foil to some items. The process goes: Print with a laser printer, place a layer of foiling material over the toner, slip into a folded piece of parchment, then run through a laminator. This has a hard time applying a solid coating of black toner, even if an image is a black and white image. Sure, I could use colored toner, but that would be so wasteful since I cover the toner with foil. So for crafting use, this printer fails, like many laser printers. However, for all other basic office uses, it does the job it should, easily. Oh, one more note - while many other printers give you tons of options for settings, this is very limiting in the settings you can change, even with all the updated software.

I ordered the Canon Color imageCLASS MF741Cdw to replace another cheap and failing (much smaller) Multifunction printer for my home office. This thing is huge compared to any printer I have used here at home but I was super impressed at how easy the Canon MF741Cdw was to set up and get running via WiFi rather than using the direct connect method. My daughter uses her Chromebook Laptop to print homework for school and she was able to easily connect to and print to the printer however my Chromebook needs a bit of "hoop jumping" to get it to work. Printing via my Android device is super easy (once I installed the correct apps). I especially love how fast this printer prints compared to the printers that I have used in the past. The standard two-sided printing was a nice surprise and makes for much less wasted paper. There are so many nice built in features that this printer is capable of however for my Home Office use, I may never use this printer to its fullest but I plan to experiment and dig deeper to take advantage of all that I can. For what its worth and on a side note, My wife purchased this exact same printer for her small office and says that it has been one of the best investments that they have ever made. So far the print quality is better than any inkjet type that Ive used here at home and for the month or so that I have used it in this Home Office setting, I have never once had any issues with it at all.

For no reason, and only after using it twice, the printer stopped printing wirelessly. Checking the settings, we noticed it was now saying that the connection was wired. At no point did we connect any wired Internet cables to the printer. I’m not even sure if we have one of those wires in the house, to be honest. I looked everywhere, and there was no way to undo that. Checking the manual, which I hate doing and I believe it is a sign of a bad product that isn’t user-friendly, it informed me that you cannot have both wired and wireless Internet connected to the printer. Well, I could kind of tell that based on the fact that there was no way I could set up the wireless. I had to then hunt for how to restore factory settings, which was also not a straightforward process. I did that, reset everything, and reestablished the wireless connection. I suppose I will have the delight of doing this again at some point in the future. I don’t understand why printers are so terrible. The last several ones I’ve reviewed for Amazon have all had serious and annoying issues like these. Do better, guys. Other notes: sleep mode activates too quickly. 30 more seconds would be a lot less stressful when trying to finish projects. Printouts look great, and printing is fast.

This printer is amazing. Its super easy to install and use. It prints quickly and the quality is superior! Good for small businesses or home use for people who need to print high quality color images and/or documents. This is a pretty large device, but we did have room in our home office for it.
