I wish I had bought this printer many years ago! I received this unit earlier than expected. It was shipped to me in only the box it comes packaged in, but was in perfect condition. It took me longer to unwrap it, than to set it up and start using. The directions could use a little improvement, but I just took my time and used a little common sense and it went together with very little effort. Also, in fairness, I suspect the CD that comes with it probably contains a lot better instructions than the quick start guide. Because of some of the reviews I read here on Amazon, I chose to skip the setup disk that came with this printer and simply allowed my Windows 7 PC to automatically find and install the correct drivers. It took about 45 seconds for Windows to find install their driver and the printer was all ready to go! I bought this unit to replace my Epson 820 which had cost me hundreds of dollars over the years in ink cartridges. It seemed like every time I needed to print a page, I would have to use half a cartridge of ink to go through the cleaning process. I love the fact that I will no longer have to go through that kind of ordeal again! I printed a second copy of all of my tax forms (I previously printed them on my inkjet printer). Compared to the first copy of forms that took me almost an hour, I printed all of my forms with this unit in about 1 minute! I only used the standard quality setting, but they were still of much higher quality than my Epson 820 ever produced. I am extremely pleased and very impressed! I would highly recommend this to my friends.

But perfect for me! It was frustrating to continually pay a lot of money for replacement cartridges for my HP color printer, mostly because I didnt use it enough - especially for color copies. The ink would dry up, then even black and white copies couldnt be made. The Brother has proven to be exactly what I need for my infrequent print needs. The black and white copies are sharply clear and multiple copies can be made very quickly. Its compact, and the price was right. If I ever need a color copy, Ill find a different way to achieve that. Since 99% of my copy needs are for black and white, Im not worried.

This printer does what it needs to do. Pages come out fast and ink is perfect. I was not expecting the sample size toner though. However, replacement timers are quite affordable. As low as $15 on Amazon. Skip big office chains. They charge $42+ for the toner.

If you are sick/tired of buying ink and only need BL/Wh copies, then this might just be for you.And if you need color copies go ahead and get one of these anywho, the toner lasts a long while and the unit cost about what a 5 pk of ink goes for.Would give it 10 stars for value/product if I could

I bought this printer to replace a color Epson printer that was costing me tons of money every month. As a writer and a student, I am constantly print text documents, but every two weeks I was having to replace random colors because they ran out at different times. Our town does not have a good selection on printer inks so I was having to spend $47 everytime a color went out. BUT NOT ANY MORE! This monochrome printer is the best! I love this bad boy so much. Its fast, its compact, and it only prints black and white, which totally suits my needs. No more games from Epson! :D

This printer is working efficiently and well after a few weeks of usage. The one drawback is that it doesnt come with the cable required to connect the printer to the computer. Luckily, I had my old one at hand, but I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to get it connected before I saw the tiny illustration on the instructions that indicated the cable. Because there was no cable, I assumed that I could connect the two devices electronically.

Initially I loved this printer. BUT, it only lasted for 3 months. Complete waist of money.

I struggled with a new HP printer for hours and never got it working well. The roller was always a bit off. Threw in junk pile. Now this Brother, I was able to remove from box, follow clear instructions, insert disk, download software and then hit Print on a document and it printed! I used a UBC cable. It all took me one half hour and Im not a techy. And it prints so fast!! Am quite impressed and happy!

I like this printer. It does what its supposed to do, and the printed output looks good. There are two things that bother me. First, the manufacturer says you are supposed to leave it plugged in all the time or you risk damaging it. What? The second is that the started toner cartridge only prints about 700 pages. Why is it that this is not in Amazons description anywhere. Does the manufacturer really need that badly the five cents they save by doing this?

It doesn’t work as is, out of the box. They advertise it as usb connection as if it’s an easy plug and print situation- IT’S NOT. You need a special cord that it doesn’t come with. I had to look deep into reviews to see this is a common theme and yet they still haven’t updated their description to be clear to customers. When I emailed the seller to ask about the cord they were unapologetic about it and said I could look on YouTube to figure something out for WiFi connection- although it doesn’t mention wireless connectivity anywhere in product description and the first questions listed in reviews they answered it does not connect to WiFi. You’re better off paying the little extra for a complete purchase that comes ready to print. I can’t say this even works, I’m sure they’re hoping that I don’t have the connectivity to figure it out before the return/refund window closes.
