Update: After only a few thousands prints the toner transfer belt failed, now I have at least four 1/4 inch black bands that deface every printout. The printer is now worthless and the warranty period just expired. Buy something else One day when you are trying to print something important, it will refuse. It will not warn you that printageddon is coming. One day it will just stop printing until you replace the toner cartridges. This will frustrate you because you KNOW there is plenty of toner (that last page printed perfectly) and now you have a useless brick where the printer used to be. Its 11:30 at night and your term paper is due tomorrow... what do you do?! How to reset the fake "out of toner message" and instantly make the printer work again: 1. Open the top lid of the printer and leave it open. 2. Press and hold the “Secure” and “X Cancel” buttons at the same time. 3. Use the arrow keys to select the cartridge model you would like to reset and press “OK”. 4. Press the UP arrow to reset the cartridge. Once reset is selected you will see “ACCEPTED” on the screen. I reset them all by scrolling through the various colors on the menu. 5. Close the top lid. It will make a bunch of noise for a minute or so, then it will print like new again. Now the printer thinks you installed brand new toner cartridges, and you will get double or more the amount of printed pages from the same old "out" toner. When you notice the quality of the printouts degrading, THEN its time to replace the toner. Not before. While you are waiting for your new toner to arrive, take the old one out and shake it- prints will look new again for a short period of time. Buy toner when you are out, not when the machine tries to tell you what to do.

Very pleased with the print quality and general air-print operation. BUT...the toner low level indicator is INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING. We had to replace the initial cartridges as expected but started getting "Toner Low" warnings after just a couple of months. Went online and discovered a Cheat Code to reset the toner levels. Entered the code in the machine and have been using the same toner cartridges for the past 7 month with NO degradation in color or brightness. I am convinced the programming is setup to sell toner, expensive toner, to unsuspecting owners. Check out this link: http://www.daycounter.com/LabBook/HL-3070-Low-Toner.phtml

We have had this for a few weeks, and it has been the perfect replacement to our older inkjet printer. A major reason we switched to a laser printer was because, with the inkjet printer, there would be periods of time that we would not use it, and the ink cartridges either dried up, or the nozzles got plugged up, and wed have to replace them more frequently than we wanted. It wasnt reliable when we needed it to be, and we got fed up. This printer has a much larger footprint, but the benefits outweigh the bulk. It has a 250 page paper tray, that is tucked away at the bottom, and the print speed is amazing. Color printing is pretty sharp, although there is discrepancy between blues and blacks, but its not a game changer. After printing 100+ pages of mixed color and text documents, I am nowhere near expecting to change out the starter toner cartridges that came with it. You can also print out a report from the printer, and it tells you how many pages you have printed, how many were monochrome, and how many color, paper type, etc, as well as toner levels, life of the drum units. Its not too complicated to figure out, and setting up wireless printing was fairly simple. For anyone looking to make the jump to a color laser printer for home use, I highly recommend this.

I despise this printer with a seething passion. This is the worst printer ever. I have had this printer for 5 painful months. My 4th Brother printer. I almost pulled a disc lugging an older Brother color laser printer to the dumpster. I thought its absurd weight was just old technology. I was wrong. My Ford F-150 may struggle to get this new POS to a dumpster. I thought my prior Brother color laser printers tendency to be in Deep Sleep" and to jam on every other page was because I got a lemon. I was wrong. This 2018 purchase has less than 500 prints - still on the starter toner - and now it too has begun to JAM on every other page. - A jam means the FIRST and ALL subsequent pages will bunch up and be worthless. - A jam is toner wasted. - A jam is paper wasted, - A jam means going to the printer opening the rear door, pulling out cartridges, wasting time, losing business. - A jam in 2018 (every other page) is frustrating beyond expression. I now understand. Frustrated buyers who take valuable time from their day to leave a buyer beware review cannot be blamed for saying: "If I could give ZERO STARS..." I look to Amazon to filter out products that make people crazy angry. On the other hand, I cant fault Amazon in that this product has a solid crowd-rating of 4 of 5 stars. I dont want to rain on your parade, but this is a buyer beware review. I looked over other reviews to see if I am nuts. I learned that NOT SO MUCH... Many people are frustrated and upset. And... YES, I agree with MANY of the other shortcomings that a 2018 color printer should have years-ago remedied: 1 - Deep Sleep" - A huge inconvenience! Characteristic of ALL 4 of my Brother printers! There is no discernable way to disable it from going into deep sleep. 2 - Wireless Wi-Fi Reliability - Im Incredulous. Im no digital lightweight. I moved the 2-ton printer within 4-feet of the computer to be USB connected always. 3 - Programming Screen - The 1990s is calling: "We want our 16-character pager screen back!" My washing machine has a bigger screen and it can display more than 16 characters! Order reading glasses and a flashlight. 4 - Impossible Menus - Said 16-character screen menus are impossible to navigate. And if you DO see the MENU you were looking for, it will pass by, and backing up will malfunction! Rinse & Repeat while screaming and scaring small children.

1. This was a little bigger and heavier than I thought it would be. It’s not a problem for me, but just check the numbers before you buy. 2. I was a little concerned about the quality of a “digital laser color” printer. I bought this at the last minute because I wanted better resolution for pictures in our Christmas letter. I am happy with the printing. There are two modes, 600x600 dpi and “2400-class” dpi. Frankly, I didn’t see much better resolution for the higher dpi setting, if at all, and the color in the pictures on plain paper was definitely darker with the higher resolution. I stuck with the 600 dpi setting. 3. After I printed 210 pages, I got “replace black toner” message. I took the cartridge out and carefully shook it, but that didn’t clear the message. This unit will not print with that message. I recycled on/off. I took the cartridge out again and shook it. I could hear what sounded like remaining toner. I still couldn’t clear the message. It wouldn’t print. I used my Canon ink jet to finish my printing. So I got 210 pages from the “starter” toner cartridges. I know the printer companies make money from toner. I just wish they didn’t make it so brutal and obvious. (Btw, you might also get a message to clean the corona wires. To do this, you have to move a plastic tab back and forth over the corona wire a couple of times. If subsequent printouts have a stripe down the left side of the page, you probably didn’t return the plastic tab all the way to the left. It happened to me.) 4. I checked online for toner. Holy smokes, more than $80 each for OEM toner. I found compatible toner for about $25 (SuppliesGuys). I can live with that. 5. I used a USB cable, so have not tried the wireless part. 6. The next day on YouTube, I found out how to clear the “replace toner” message and get the printer to print again. 7. Update: The compatible toner (SuppliesGuys) came in along with two mints. The toner works fine. Yay! 8. I’m happy with the printer.

Im fairly tech savvy but there are issues getting the print drivers working in Windows 10, either on my wireless network or wired. I hired another person to come in and he was unable to fix the issue either. Apparently the installation CD makes some registry changes that are not correct. This is acknowledge on the Brother support site and indicates that this issue is "under investigation". If you want to take a chance on this printer working wirelessly on Windows 10, I strongly suggest that you enter your wireless credentials through the control panel and let Windows 10 select a generic driver. I would not use the CD. This worked on another computer in my office. I have contacted Brother and am waiting their response, but it appears that I will be returning this printer.

Install Flash Player Brother Printer HL3140CW Digital Color Printer with Wireless Networking, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled Okay, this is my second Toner Printer, and it is fabulous. Heres why: the cost is outrageously cheap for a good quality Color Toner Printer - the output is fantastic, and with it I can create MAGIC! Yep, I voided the warranty on DAY ONE with this beauty, and Im not sorry. I use bizarre release papers with it to create image transfers - and I will keep doing so. I also immediately replaced the Brother Toner with EZink Cartridges - super cheap and better release qualities. Even with the extra expense of replacement Toner, its hundreds cheaper than my first LaserJet - and almost as good. Yep - I love it.

I bought this laser printer to replace an inkjet printer that I have used for years. While investigating the new purchase, I discovered that at most retailers, it is less expensive to buy a new inkjet printer and the not-quite-full-size cartridge it comes with than to buy two full size replacement cartridges. That being the case, and the fact that I already have six or seven old inkjet printers in my storage facility collecting dust, I decided to change the way I print. I bought a laser printer. Yes, the replacement cartridges will be more expensive when I need to buy one, but I really have about 2,500 pages until that happens. I do not do much printing, so that will last a very, very long time. And, unlike an inkjet printer, the ink is not used to keep the jets clear - there are no jets! So I am using the material in the printer cartridge for the purpose I need...to print. If you can swing the extra expense and are tired of regularly contributing to HPs very lucrative revenue stream, consider buying a laser printer next time. I am happy I did.

Ive owned nothing but HP printers in the past & after the last one died, I refused to ever buy another product from them again. This left me with limited options since I was shopping on a budget for a wireless, color, laser printer. Luckily, this Brother printer came to the rescue. First off, it arrived almost a week early which is always a plus. Secondly, it was packed great with shaped styro foam pieces inside so the product was flawless when I received it. Installing the toner cartridges was ridiculously simple, as easy as plugging a plug into an outlet. Next, the wireless set up was a breeze, <5 mins total. Note: you will need to know information about your network to input into the printer for wireless set up such as the network name, password and a few other configuration #s (like the DNS or IP cant recall which or if both) so be sure to write those down in advance. Also, make sure you have some printer paper in advance b/c once set up is complete it will want to print a test page & Brother doesn;t include any paper for this task. Once the wireless set up was complete, the Brother printer instantly recognized the wifi network, and my PC instantly recognized the printer. Brother includes a CD with drivers for the printer which youll install AFTER the wireless set up mentioned above and they install lightning fast. From here, print at will! I set the printer up in a spare bedroom away from my PC, and Im happy to report the Brother prints flawlessly. The color looks great to me, not top notch photo lab quality but its more than satisfactory for backgrounds, pictures and anything Ive asked it to do. The printer goes into deep sleep mode to conserve power when not in use and springs to life when you fire out a print request. I cannot comment on the sound b/c of its location, but it is in the room next to the PC and I never hear a peep for what its worth. Overall, I have zero complaints and all praise for this product. The only gripe I might have is that it doesnt come with any paper lol.

Packing and shipping speed was excellent. Product arrived as described and setup took me about 15-20 minutes. My prior printer was an HP color LaserJet 2600n. But the drum finally started showing its age. So, I replaced it with this LED printer. LED printers, like laser printers, use "toner" not "ink." They just work differently. LED printers have fewer moving parts. This makes it pretty quiet while running. And fewer moving parts also means theres less to "wear out" (less down-time for repairs, if needed). According to my research, this printer "will" accept non-OEM replacement cartridges. But read the fine print of the warranty. As soon as you start using non-OEM cartridges, you void the warranty. So, at least during the warranty period, you should use OEM. Personally, Id probably use OEM cartridges exclusively. The reviews Ive seen of non-OEM compatible catridges are a mix of good and bad. Of course, if youre the owner, its your call. One nice thing. Most modern-day printers give you "out of toner" warnings when youre really not out of toner. Thats because the warnings are based on internal counters that do page-counts. If even one word appears on a page, that counts as a printed page - and brings the counter that much closer to the warning. The good news is that this printer has a "workaround" allowing owners to reset the counters back to zero ... allowing you to continue printing until youre REALLY out of toner. Heres the method: 1) Open the HL3140CWs front cover, exposing the toner cartridges. 2) While the cover is open, simultaneously press the SECURE and CANCEL buttons. A "reset" menu will appear in the LCD window on top of the printer. 3) Scroll down and select one color/yield to reset. The LCD window will show ACCEPTED when the reset is complete. 4) Close the printer cover and reboot the printer. Repeat the 4 steps above for each color whose counter you want to reset. After resetting one or more counters, its probably a good time to order replacement cartridges for those colors (if you dont already have them). And if/when the print quality starts looking faded for any given color, thats when you know youre REALLY out of toner. One final comment. I printed out some test pages and, WOW, was I impressed. The print quality actually seems better than my HP LaserJet ever was. Text is crisp. And I printed out a full-page color photo of my son/girlfriend. Nothing short of stunning. Looks like Ill have to buy some photo-stock paper (grin).
