I bought this product 58 days ago. I originally couldn’t get the HDMI port to work, but didn’t have time to troubleshoot. When I finally took the time, I discovered that the HDMI port on the monitor is indeed faulty. While Viewsonic is handling this under warranty, I must pay the return freight and wait from 5 to 10 days. I am not very pleased with the service or coverage. I was much happier with a similarly sized Dell monitor I gave to a co-worker. The colors on the Dell seemed brighter and the monitor more responsive.

I recently built a new desktop and since I used an RX 480, I wanted a monitor that could take advantage of Freesync this time around. This had some pretty nice reviews and was on sale (not to mention it was already fairly inexpensive compared to other Freesync monitors), so I jumped on it. Perhaps I received a defective unit or my eyes are broken, but I just could not find a way to make the colors on it look good, even after spending over an hour trying to find a good mix of settings for it and using multiple calibration sites. Everything looked bright and washed out, even if I turned down the brightness setting, and the general lack of options for sharpness meant I either had to deal with text that was too sharp or too blurry (while the menu makes it seem that sharpness goes up to 100, you can actually only change it in increments of 25, meaning that there are only five possible settings for it). For now, Ive went back to my good old Hanns G montior thats reliably served me for over seven years now.

1) The monitor did not come with a display port cable 2) it did come with an extremely short HDMI cable, worthless for anyone who doesnt have their desktop actually on their desktop. 3) No manual was included in the box and this was important after I plugged the monitor in. Insanely bright and crisp monitor when i plugged it in. Too bright. The fonts on my screen are coming across granular as well which is a huge negative. So now there are 5 buttons on the back of the monitor to try and use to configure the monitor. i bought this for freesync to go with my video card and when I enable that feature it removes the options to adjust brightness and contrast and dulls everything way down. At this point I have to go online and see how others configured their monitor because just trying to find my way around the menus is not intuitive. A user manual would have been so handy here.

See UPDATE below. We purchased 13 of these for various users around our divisions. When plugged in via DisplayPort or VGA, more than half of them are flickering and, in some cases, simply displaying black screens. The problems span multiple computer makes and models. The same computers work perfectly with other manufacturers monitors. Weve wasted nearly three weeks with ViewSonic support with no resolution. We purchased these because ViewSonic had a reputation for quality. Never again. !* UPDATE *! After extensive testing we found that the combination of a specific graphics card and a specific video driver was causing the issue on some monitors (multiple brands,) but not on others. While the problem did not, in the end, turn out to be a ViewSonic problem, this monitor is one of a few that is affected by it. Revised rating to 3 stars because its not the monitors problem. I take one star away because other monitors worked fine in the same configuration, and another because ViewSonic support was not helpful in the resolution.

This is a nice and inexpensive monitor, but the controls seem to be overly complicated for someone just using it as a monitor. It has multiple presets and you can save your configurations. But it seems like every time I turn it off it forgets the saved settings. When I use it to display a nice big Excel spreadsheet with a mild amount of formatting or colors, shaded cells and some lines, I have to readjust it to be able to read the cells clearly. Maybe it is just me, but I work with different monitors all the time since my job takes me to multiple locations where Im connecting my laptop to many different monitors. This ViewSonic is the only one that gives me problems. The laptop is an ordinary Dell Windows PC with an integrated graphics processor, so nothing unusual.

Overall I really like the monitor. I am using my laptop and feeding the monitor via HDMI as well as using a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard as my second office. I think the colors are good and overall a clear display, but they do feel a tad washed out. Could be the monitor or it could be the laptop...the laptop display is slightly richer in color. So I really want to only knock off 1/2 of a star. Otherwise, I was surprised to find out it has speakers built in. Did not initially care and although they are built in... they sound decent and better than my laptop and by using HDMI, no extra wires to carry sound.

I have had this monitor for about a week and a half now and I am very happy with this purchase. I have always used TVs for gaming so coming from a TV not specifically designed for gaming to this was night and day. The response and refresh rates are very good. I dont notice any delay from when I input a button on my controller to the actual display on the screen. Colors are also great and the details that this monitor brings out in 1080p is also great as well. Build wise, the monitor feels sturdy and well built. I havent had any issues with the stand being loose or flimsy. Overall feels very solid. It also comes with all the cables you would need, in my case an HDMI cable, so that is also a plus. The one thing that I feel would benefit this product is a remote to turn the monitor on and off and access setting with. You have to physically reach behind the screen to turn it on and off. However, it has been detected when I turn on my PS4 and the monitor automatically turns on with it, so that is a pleasant surprise. The speakers work fine but for those who value great sound, I would recommend buying a set of speakers or headset(which is what I use and also why the sound doesnt influence my overall star rating). The only real reason I give it four stars instead of five is based off of the time I have had to use it. If it continues to function without problems for a couple months I would change the review to five stars(If I even remember to do this...). It does what I need it to do and that is connect to my PS4. I definitely think this is worth the price, especially if you play video games fairly frequently and shooters in particular. I have noticed my ability generally improving with this monitor, everything is much clearer and I can see players much easier especially in games with darker colors and lighting.

I have 5 of them I am so far happy. I have not tried to set them up to the same color or brightness. I just installed them out of the box and plugged them in my computer. My # 6 screen is an LG 34 and all of them seem to work pretty well. I had them for only 3 weeks. So I need to wait and seen how they will do in one year.

I bought this to use for digital painting/gaming. -For digital painting this monitor is very difficult to calibrate but once you get it, the colors are very rich. Calibrating this thing by hand was nearly impossible, in the end I had to downloaded an ICC profile from ViewSonics website and apply that in combination with hand calibration to get an accurate picture. However after all the trouble it was to calibrate once I got it right the blacks were very black and the colors were vibrant. -For gaming its just great. Very fast response time. Very good picture. -Im not a huge fan of the blue LED at the bottom of the frame, but its easily ignored. Overall a pretty good monitor.

This is a gateway Freesync monitor. And it excels at that. I will say however, the out of the box setting on the monitor are pretty bad. It took a decent number of tweaks to the monitors settings to get something that was usable. I really recommend that if you get this monitor to change it to "Reading" mode to deal with some of the image blurriness. Other than that it has performed admirably. The refresh rate isnt as high as other monitors but that is what you get for the price.
