This monitor replaced a 5-6 year old 23" LG. So, I wasnt exactly replacing an old relic. I would say that the image displayed on this monitor is better, but only slightly better, than the LG. And, my old LG was not an IPS panel and was connected via VGA. So, possibly the slightly better image is attributable to this being an IPS panel connected via HDMI rather than VGA. The documentation for this display is totally useless. Whats more, the printed out manual is only slightly more helpful. Although Ive used computers for 25 years, I could simply be a somewhat stupid person. I have yet to figure out how to make the OSD do what I want it to do. Much of the commentary in the manual does not appear applicable to this display notwithstanding the fact that this is a brand new display. The six little icons on the lower right portion of the display are miniscule in size. But, most importantly, I have been unable to get them to do what I would like. A computer keyboard has up-down and right-left keys/arrows. And an Enter key. It is very straightforward and easy to use. The controls on this display just do not operate as straightforwardly and simply. Again, maybe I just have yet to figure out their correct operation, but, after being a computer user for 25 years, this simply should not be an issue. Fortunately, the defaults produce a pretty decent image. Nevertheless, I would like to be able to fine tune consistent with my personal taste which I have not yet been able to do for the reasons indicated. Whatever. As mentioned, the image is definitely satisfactory. I wish my 7 1/2 year old computer/graphics card were newer so that it had a display port output, but, since it doesnt, I dont know how much improvement in image quality--if any--would result from using a DP connection. Another issue with the manual is that nowhere does it explain what some of the choices on the on screen display mean, e.g. RTS, MOBA, FRS1, FRS2. How do you know if youd like to alter them when its not even explained what they are??? Stuff like this definitely should be explained in a manual/userguide. Not satisfactory.

I bought the 1080p version of this monitor. It is a great monitor with a few odd design choices I dont love. The Good: The color is crisp and vibrant and the tiny bezel looks really great (measures somewhere around 1/4" or 1/2 cm.) I kind of wish I had bought two at the Prime Day price to seem them side by side with that small of a bezel. This thing is also very thin. I saw the product images beforehand, but in real life its just crazy how thin the panel is. The Bad: The silver accents are not great. I didnt think I would care, but that shiny silver strip along the bottom of the panel reflects my blue LED keyboard really brightly. Also, the power cord is non-standard. I thought Id be able to just swap out my old monitor and plug in the previous HDMI and power cables, but this monitor has a power brick and special power cable. The stand is not able to be height adjusted, which I didnt actually expect at the price, but it is worth mentioning. All in all, I would still buy another one of these, and am very much considering paying full the price for a second (got mine $30 off on Prime Day). EDIT: The monitor was on sale for $20 off so I bought a second one. However, this one arrived with a shattered screen. Be aware that the shipping method is a little janky with this item. The original monitor box is inside a larger amazon box with a single piece of crumpled fill paper (that is protecting nothing). That means the outer box will likely be crushed if other items are stacked on it. Replacement was shipped for free and received 4 days later.

Sorry I wrote a book here. For those of us with ADD (like me), in summary, this is an excellent monitor given the price. For everyone who wants to read the long version :-D I’d give it twice as many stars if I could. I remember my first ViewSonic monitor back when I was doing graphics work in the late 90s before Windows 98. It was an 18” CRT that took up my whole desk but it was cheaper – at $1200 – than any other comparable monitor. It was a great monitor and served me very well. I’ve had several ViewSonics since and I will admit my bias. In fact, I’m using a 24” one here at my desk as a 2nd display for my Dell all-in-one (company issue computer). So anyway, I wanted to hook up a 2nd monitor to my MacBook at home so I could both shoot tethered and edit photos on a decent screen. I didn’t need a huge display, just an improvement over a 13” laptop display. I’m not doing professional work so having the ability to exactly calibrate isn’t important to me. I just wanted reasonably faithful color rendering, flicker free display with decent saturation and uniform display. But when searching for an inexpensive monitor I didn’t rule out any others and kept an open mind. I ended up with this one and I’ve been very pleased with it First things first: It comes in three pieces that you put together with no tools. Base, riser and display. It snaps together, you plug in a power cord and cable of your flavor and you’re done. It’s auto recognized in Mac and within moments you’re done. I’m primarily a windows user and my experience on that OS is far greater and I find that current versions of Win7,8, etc also have no issues with these displays. I have a mac because it was a gift and my old desktop died on me. So for the monitor, its an IPS display and the color is excellent and the display is uniform across the entire display field. There is a faint bit of hazing at the edges but it is a) only noticeable with a very dark background color and b) it is a characteristic of IPS displays in general, not a fault. I’m using it for remote shooting with my Canon T6 and the Canon utilities, Lightroom and Photoshop CC (which sucks, by the way and I’m moving to GIMP). Love the color, love the size and the clarity. So, for about 15 times less than my first ViewSonic monitor, I get one that weighs nearly nothing, takes up so little space on my desk, and has a good bit more viewing area.

I bought two of these monitors, I was really excited to buy these BUT so disappointed that they cant be mounted. ughhh!!! Screens are great and the picture is phenomenal, sounds is okay but theyre monitors (so, youll need separate speakers if you want better sound), the picture is great and they work well. But super disappointed someone created an adapter that can be bought separately to mount these but each adapter is over $30 each, so, youre better off buying monitors that can be mounted....if you plan on mounting them. Im returning mine but heres a link to the adapters for mounting them https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Viewsonic-VX2776-smhd-VX2376-smhd-VX2276-smhd/dp/B01M60RGQ2/

Absolute garbage. It only works correctly half the time ( and I’m being very generous). Most of the time I get this lovely fuschia hue over the entire screen that makes it unbearable to look at. Sometimes after I restart my computer 5 times or unplug and plug the monitor back in it will return to its normal color.

… which is what its replacing. Im on a Mac, so Windows users mileage may vary. First, boot time: the monitor boots as fast as my Mac Pro 2013, if not faster. Time from power on to login screen is just under 30 seconds. For the LG this is replacing, time was 45-60 seconds, sometimes longer when the monitor didnt detect the signal from the computer. Ive done ten full shut downs and startups with this monitor so far, it never failed to detect the video signal. Image quality is adequate for graphics work. Very clear, crisp screen image. My eyes thank me. Setup: Plug and play. HOWEVER: You should read the manuals instructions, especially with respect to the controls, which are not prominently marked. My unit did not come with a manual, so I downloaded it from the ViewSonic site. Apparently it is important to turn the monitor on before booting the computer. I didnt know that. I recall some reviewers didnt like the stand. I love it—no wobble at all. Gaming: It has settings for gaming, but since I dont do much gaming, I cant speak to the monitors use for that purpose. Cons: Control icons are tiny and hard to see. This is really no big deal. Once the easy-to-read on-screen menus pop up, they show you what button to press. Finally, the reason I chose ViewSonic as a brand: Every medical practice and establishment Ive seen in the last five years uses them, including for display of medical images (x-ray, MRI, CT scans, etc.) If the screen image is clear enough for medical diagnosis, the monitors must be more than adequate for my purposes, which include graphics applications, both CG and photo.

Awesome monitor - was debating whether to give it 4 or 5 stars, I was going to do 4 stars only because its not VESA compliant (no mount), and I REALLY wish it was because other than that its perfect - the brightness and contrast are great, esp the brightness I was impressed by; and viewing angles obviously are good since its an IPS screen, the settings are plenty and the monitor is SO LIGHT and THIN!! Super easy setup! I went with 5 stars because for how classy and sleek and nice it is, its a great price. My ONLY other mini complaint other than the lack of it being mountable, is ... the excessive "VIEWSONIC" logos all over it! aka, on the bottom edge in the front, then in large font directly below in the middle of the monitor stand, and last but not least.. in even greater font... "view sonic" in big white letters on the back of it. Like ... its a little much! But, super good monitor, GREAT for gaming, its extremely responsive and I noticed no motion blur or lag at all. love it.

Ive been using this screen for about a month and Im loving it. Ive used it primarily for work - spreadsheets, Word documents, photo editing, and video creation all look great. Ive also watched a few movies on it and was also impressed with how clear it is. The sound is pretty good, too, considering most monitors dont even come with sound. I wouldnt use the sound for movies but for work purposes its good. Setup was a breeze - it was recognized right away. Making adjustments is also easy to do. Ive played around with the settings and it provides ample options to find the one thats best for your eyes. Ive found no flicker at all. I also love not having the large frame around the screen as many monitors have. Overall, ViewSonic remains the best option for quality monitors at the best prices.

The monitor arrived without damage or flaws. It worked at the right resolution and refresh rate on the first try with Windows 10. The default settings were painfully bright. Setting brightness and contrast for comfort was intuitive. All colors and tones looked fine with sunny day action camera video. The metal stand was heavy and easy to put together. Tilting the screen back went well, with just the right amount of friction. I am very impressed with this monitor. It had a sharpness option, so I set it from 50 down to 0. Text looked clear and pleasing. Everything appeared to be high quality. The power LED was white and tiny. The input ports looked and worked well. The power adapter had two cords like a notebook PC (presumably for sending different plugs to different countries). Its power brick was 105 x 46 x 29 millimeters, or the size of a large phone charging battery. Viewing angles were excellent. Im glad ViewSonic offered IPS panels. I can move my head around a lot and still see a stable, evenly backlit image. Awesome monitor. It worked with SVGA output from an Nvidia card. There were subtle diagonal bands descending when the entire screen was light blue. I presume the GPU, my unbranded video cable, and the monitor couldnt get two megapixels perfectly in sync sixty times per second. Still images looked fine. So did normal screens of text. I had to use Nvidia control panel settings to control highlights, since the monitors brightness and contrast controls didnt get rid of clipping from the raw signal. Im happy that 1080p SVGA works and can be reasonably well calibrated. The computer has HDMI output, so perfection and stability are easy to achieve. SVGA input is a good feature if a graphics card fails and I have to fall back to integrated graphics. The review will be updated if any problems arise. I have only been using the product for half a day. ViewSonic made a great first impression!
