Im writing specifically about the ViewSonic VA2446M-LED 24" 1080p LED Monitor (non-HDMI). Ive installed at least twenty of these in the past year, and all have performed as intended, right out of the box, with no subsequent failures. We arent concerned with high-end graphics or color balance, but in a business environment it does what its intended to do with no hassle. (One design glitch: the base attaches with a peculiar little latch plug that locks when horizontal. If you need to move the unit from the desktop base to a wallmount or standing desk as I have several times, turn the handle vertically to extract it easily; otherwise it breaks off.)

Remember when monitors were 19 inches, the size of a microwave, and somehow weighed about 60 pounds? Well, a lot has changed over the last 10 years or so. Im a derivatives Trader and have 4 PCs on my desk each with two monitors. This is a fairly typical setup four people in my occupation and when one of my ViewSonic 24 inch monitors failed I knew I had to replace it with and identical model. Because the monitors are all next to each other difference in color and resolution would be glaringly obvious. I use the scanner feature on my phone through the Amazon app and could not come up with a match. A little note popped up telling me to take a photo and to send it to customer support ( simple click of a button) and they would look and see if they could find a comprable unit. I had no idea Amazon offered this service but was glad to give it a shot. The monitor that Im reviewing is what they came back with and I was shocked to see that the price came down about $200 per unit from when I bought these the last time. This thing is in 1080p, 24 inches, and is Featherlite. But the best part is the resolution... This thing is incredible, I have some fairly high-end equipment and this $120 monitor shames all the others I have. Im going to replace my other monitors so I have some consistency and I strongly recommend if youre in the market for a new monitor you give this a shot. One last thought, this is a prime item if it isnt everything that I say it is and the other reviews, you can always return it :-) good luck and happy shopping

The monitor itself is great- nice build and image/picture quality. As others have noted- there are two things that will be seen as a negative, if you are expecting something better: First, the stand is flimsy plastic, and the monitor sits very low compared to others. I had written earlier that it didnt tilt, but have found out since that it does- it is just really hard to get it right where you want it, especially if you use two of these side-by-side, because the stand is so flexible. The monitor will jiggle with very little movement of the desk/table it is on- it might as well be a spring. The stand just snaps on with plastic clips- no screws. That said- these monitors are perfect if you want to mount them using an after-market articulated desk, multi-monitor, wall, or other mount. You will probably be disappointed if you use it with the included stand. Second, the speakers are really only suitable for notification sounds/beeps. I have yet to actually buy a monitor that has speakers that are even remotely good, so in that respect- this doesnt surprise me. If you are trying to get rid of desktop speakers- this monitor is not going to help you. Also- take note that this only ships with a VGA cable. I suspect most people have either graduated to DVI or already have a drawer or box full of old VGA cables. Id almost rather see them drop the cable entirely and put some money into the stand, otherwise- ship it with a DVI cable if not both. Buy this as a quality 24" monitor that is perfect for a multi-monitor desk mount. Dont count on good speakers in ANY monitor, and if you do want a better stand- pay $10-$20 more for a higher-up model from ViewSonic. they really do make good monitors, so the price difference is usually on the extras.

Overall this is a great performing monitor for the cost. It does not look as good as some of the higher end monitors that cost $500+, but at this price point, it is excellent. I have had the ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED 22-Inch 1080p Monitor for nearly 3 years and this new model is very similar other than being 2 inches larger. The screen has the same matte finish to reduce glare and the color reproduction is nearly identical. This model has slightly better brightness uniformity compared to my VX2250WM (see uploaded picture). To test uniformity and backlight bleed I used black, white, red, green, and blue full screen slides side-by-side with my older VX2250WM with both brightness and contrast set as high as they would go at 100, and then again with brightness set to zero, and contrast at 50. Pros: + Excellent performance/cost ratio + Monitor tilts up and down on base + VESA compliant so you can use a different stand or wall mount + No dead or faulty pixels + Backlight bleeding is very minimal - I was only able to tell that there was some when I used the black slide with the brightness and contrast turned all the way up (see uploaded picture). + Better brightness uniformity compared to the older VX2250WM + 3 year warranty Cons: - There is no HDMI connection - DVI cable is not included - Like the VX2250WM it is a little too bright at night - The speakers are small so dont expect amazing sound Performance: The performance is very good for home or office use - it looks great surfing the web, looking at pictures, or watching movies. Images and text are clear and crisp. The off angle viewing, like any non-IPS LCD display is not great (especially vertically - it is not too bad left to right), but that is to be expected with this type of panel (it is a TN LCD panel). The color reproduction is almost identical to the VX2250WM. Mine does not have any dead or faulty pixels. It is extremely bright, so I turned down the brightness to zero and the contrast to 60 for daily use. The blacks in movies and images look pretty good, colors from pictures are not washed out or over-enhanced. The one complaint I have is that even if you turn down the brightness to zero, at night in a dark room it is still too bright, but it can be turned down so that it is not quite as bright as the VX2250WM. If anyone would like to see the pictures I took of the red, green, and blue slides mirrored on both monitors I can upload them, but they look exactly the same to me. Design: The base allows the monitor to tilt up and down which is nice, and it is VESA compliant so you can remove the base and hook it up to a wall mount or a multiple monitor mount. The buttons to control the monitor are underneath the front bezel which makes it look better but are kind of awkward to use. There is a LED indicator light (blue when on, amber when idle) that faces down in the middle of the front bezel. If you wish, there is an option to turn off the "power indicator light" which turns off the blue light when the monitor is in use, but the amber light stays on when it is in idle/sleep mode either way. Sound: It does have built in stereo speakers which are adequate for every day use, but similar to most built in monitor/tv speakers, they are too small to sound that well. There are plenty of cheap 2.1 computer speaker systems that will sound better. Update 09/12/13: I bought a second monitor when they went on sale because I liked the first one so much and wanted identical dual monitors. My original review could go for the second one as well - it works great. However, out of the box, when looking at both side-by-side, the color reproduction is not exactly the same. The first one has a slightly "cooler" color temperature while the 2nd one is a little "warmer." At first this was a little annoying, but apparently this happens with non-calibrated LCD monitors of all types. Just know that if you buy more than one and plan to view them side-by-side you may have to fiddle with the settings (calibrate) to get the colors exactly the same.

Full disclosure: Im not an avid gamer nor videophile. I needed a larger, good quality monitor to replace an aging 19" screen for basic telecommuting purposes. I work from home often and this is a decent quality monitor that performs well for my needs. The brightness and clarity are both a big step up from my last monitor. I received the item in perfect condition and there were no dead pixels nor annoying "light bleed". Im using two of these on a dual-monitor arm and the VESA mounting made attaching them a simple process. After using this monitor for 8-10 hours a day for the past few weeks, I have zero complaints. It is my personal opinion that this is an excellent monitor for the price.

The video quality is astounding: excellent contrast and definition. Unfortunately, it came with no manual. I unsuccessfully attempted to obtain one on line. I could and did register it on line. I had to call and she directed me how to obtain the manual. I was hoping for better sounding speakers, though. My old flip phone sounded better. I never heard such tinny sounding "speakers." Id give it a 4 or 5 stars, if it wasnt for very tinny speakers, no manual and the difficulty getting one, and a difficult to navigate web site.

I have found that Viewsonic makes a pretty good monitor alas this is not the best monitor. I had to take a star off my rating because, it has no HDMI port not even one. In this day and age not having at least one HDMI port is just insane. This viewsonic monitor has a VGA port which is very old technology and it has a DVI-D connection which is newer but still no spring chicken in the tech world. Just so happens I have old video cards around the house. I scavenge video cards and other hardware from my older systems now disgarded. I could make use of this olde school monitor because I have access to old my collection of old video cards. That said the picture quality of this monitor using DVI is first rate. The VGA picture is what you would expect also. This is not the monitor you want for diagnostic imaging or any work that requires perfect quality renderings. This is the monitor you want for workhorse use. This is a nice cheap monitor that does a good enough job if all you want to do is surf the net with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 on an older system. This is an LED monitor so it should last a long time if the electronics are good. The price is right for the old technology you are buying. So if you really dont need the latest video technology like HDMI and such this is your monitor. Why pay for technology you wont use or dont need. My vision is not very good so why do I need a High Definition monitor when I was blessed with low definition eyes. I took a star off because; people need to know this monitor lacks an HDMI port which explains why it sells so cheap. This Viewsonic is a good monitor for the cheap workhorse basic computer monitor that it is.

Great quality picture but... the rest to be desired. The stand is clumsy,- cheap plastic, feels like a dollar store toy. The navigation buttons is a total disaster. The power and setting buttons are located down below underneath the monitor, hard to reach and see whats pressed.... I have never seen so poorly designed controls on any monitors! But.... the quality of picture and the price is all right. Solid three stars.

Bought two of these and they work well for the price paid. No dead pixels. the only down side is they have no forward or lateral tilting mobility settings with the stand provided, and I actually thought the screen would be a bit brighter (which is why I rated it 4 versus 5 stars), but overall Im satisfied with them. I also think they could have better casting for the exterior, but ViewSonic probably purposely did this to cut down on the overall weight of the product; they are very light. Since they are compatible, I intend to purchase arm mounts which should help with the mobility settings and desk space.

Beautiful monitor that sits next to my iMac and performs just as I had hoped. Honestly, though, the instructions for assembling the stand were unreadible. Print was very small, diagrams were vague so I had to vamp and put it together with a couple of guesses. I HAVE a part left over, I cant figure out where it goes so it sits on my desk...decoration. Good device, bad instructions and printed for someone with Coke-bottom glasses to read.
