Did I need a new, larger monitor? No Did I "want" a new, larger monitor? Yes "Want" trumped "need", and I am very satisfied with that decision. This saga began when I saw a beautiful 27" monitor after which my puny 24" Acer just didnt seem to be adequate. Up to that point, Mr Acer was satisfying my needs very well. So the search began. Im an old retired guy that spends several hours daily sitting in front of a monitor searching the internet, reading the newspaper and working email. Looking at a multitude of reviews, I settled on a 1920x1080, 27" Dell. It was reasonably priced but currently not available on Amazon. Thats OK, Ill just order it and wait. During the wait, I kept reviewing and noticed several comments that a 27" is much better in the 2560x1440 resolution. After awhile it became "necessary" that I have the better resolution. As the prior order was on a wait list, cancelling the order was no problem. So, back to the hunt. I soon discovered that monitors in that resolution are more pricey, over 300% more. However, by now I was convinced the better resolution was not negotiable. My new Dell U2717D is exactly what I wanted. Beautiful color, very thin bezel, sturdy stand, and sharp pictures.

A bad pixel appears after 40 days. According to Dells policy, no free replacement, no free return. Dell U is a joke now. The quality is worse than a P or E several years ago. 1bright pixel and 6 dark pixels for free replacement? You are talking about dragon balls right?

NOTE: I bought this for home use. I use macbook pro touch bar with Apple Thunderbolt display at work. So I wanted a screen thats not over price but the color would be as close as the apple thunderbolt display, or at least match my touchbar macbook pro. Before I bought this screen I tried the TN panel - Samsung - UE590 28" LED 4K UHD. Good price 4K to test it out, but boy I was super disappointed how the color came out. Try to calibrate my screen but no luck, viewing close would lose sigh of top of the screen because of it being TN panel. I decided to order this guy. What a differences, the price about $70 more but this one just totally kick Samsumg butt. IPS screen. This is really close to the thunderbolt display that I use at work. The color of this screen matches the apple macbook pro real well. I do graphic design, photography, video editing, web work. I really recommend this screen for those who needs apple replacement ($469) comes with Display port, mini display port, usbs, HDMI etc,

This screen is gorgeous. It works perfectly with my 2011 Macbook Pro with its included mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. The color accuracy is great on this thing. I poked around on the internet and turns out the best factory setting is to set it to the built-in factory configured sRGB profile, not the default one that it first turns on to. Good brightness and ready to go.

The first monitor I bought had a sizable bit of dust behind the screen that I wanted to ignore, but it was positioned in the upper right where a few of my regular websites and apps have buttons, drawing my attention to it constantly. Other than that the colors and image were gorgeous, and the thin bezel prompted me to buy two replacements for the one I was returning, in hopes of a nice dual-monitor setup. Of the next two, one had a bright red stuck pixel and the other its own embedded dust speck. I wanted to try and ignore the dust in the second; even though it was in the top right again it was higher up and smaller. Unfortunately, this monitor had utterly appalling levels of IPS glow. (Ive attached an image of the U2717D to the right of my old reliable U2410). I really wanted to like this monitor, and have owned Dell UltraSharps for years, but unfortunately each had its own significant flaw. Hopefully all of mine were just from a bad batch, as between all the problems a truly beautiful monitor is hiding--I just couldnt find it.

Item stopped working at precisely 90 days. Was told that item only carries 90 day warranty and nothing can be done. Contacted DELL and was informed this monitor was not NEW, and was in fact re-sold and no longer under warranty. DO NOT purchase this monitor through Ascendtech. They will sell you used monitor, without Dell warranty. The monitor currently displays vertical lines and does not show picture at all. While it does clearly state that the warranty is not through Dell, I think its assumed by most, that when purchasing a new item, the manufacturer warranty comes with it. In this case, that is not true, and you should be aware of that before making the purchase. Ill be sure to purchase items with actually manufacturer warranties next time. 3 months of a 500 dollar monitor is not sufficient. Should be 12 months at least.

Great monitor probably better than my iMac 27 inch I had. Love the size and clarity. The USB 3.0 ports are an added bonus. I use this to display my MacBook Pro retina when docked and its fantastic. The screen is very matte.

This is actually the first review I remember writing. As both a designer and a developer, this is the best monitor I have ever used. Ive read reviews stating this model has backlight bleed, but I havent noticed any on mine. The color accuracy is far better than any monitor Ive found in this price range, and the screen real estate is optimal for this size monitor. All in all, I think this monitor is superb, and will be buying a second.

Excellent monitor Dell Ultrasharp U2717D. Shipped in excellent condition. Out of the box, setup was a breeze, great looking slim bezel monitor. factory settings appear great, only had to turn down brightness a little to get it to comfortable level. Worked great with MacBook Pro 2014 and 2016, looks gorgeous. It has been less than a week. Satisfied with purchase.

Wow! Ive only used this a few days but so far Im extremely impressed. Accurate proper colors which seem harder to find now days. I use it for streaming Netflix, Prime, Hulu etc as a bedroom TV as well as graphics and photo editing as a monitor. Ive been using a very old Ultrasharp 20" for 15 years (cost a fortune back in the day). Ive replaced it twice but the new monitors always were blown out with saturation I couldnt tune out so I would go back to the old one just for the picture quality. This Dell has that quality. Its also extremely attractive with the ultra thin bezel. At this price I dont think you can do better. At full retail maybe, but at this Amazon deal I dont think so. Pros: - Awesome accurate color and image reproduction - Very attractive (I have it in a corner of my bedroom) - Audio output to external speakers (you can use multiple source connections like a Firestick and still get audio output as well as the PC and any other sources plugged in). 2 channel only of course but USB out audio may be capable of surround if you have an amp or powered speakers with USB in. Havent tried it or researched it. - Video quality is exceptional as well with minimal or no speed issues (blurring etc) that Ive noticed. - Comes with DisplayPort and Mini-DisplayPort connectors. - A lot of adjustablity and an eco-meter. I keep it turned down in a dark room, but it will go insanely bright. Not sure the actual power draw at these settings but with IPS I doubt its much. - The 2560x1440 resolution is perfect for this 27" IMO. Reading is no issue, everything is sharp without pixelation like a 1920x1080 would, yet without things being to small like higher res screen would be. - Blacks are very good. Better than I thought they would be. Contrast is excellent. - Tilt, rotate and height adjustable! Mandatory for my needs where I use it as a monitor and turn it to watch TV while in bed. Cons: - Feels cheap. My old Ultrasharp was built like a tank. This thing is light and plasticy but works. Turning it moves the stand unless I hold it down. Adding a pound of weight to the stand would of gone a long way. It gets the job done though. How often do you touch a monitor? - I really wish it had two HDMI inputs instead of multiple DisplayPorts. I have to get a cheap card with DisplayPort to use a Firestick in the HDMI. I assume since its not a gaming monitor but an enterprise business monitor. - Thats literally it. I absolutely love this thing. Hope it holds up for years like my old Ultrasharp. - Cant speak for gaming on it. 6MS I think should be fine. I use a console and a 70" tv for gaming.
