Install Flash Player First of all, I am a real buyer and not some professional buyer that is getting paid to give an item 5 stars. THE PROS- The projector is clear. You can even see it fairly well with the lights on/daytime. The cooling fan for the projector is quiet and it doesnt get that hot at all. Lots of things inside the menu that you can adjust. THE CONS- I first bought a cheap projector($79) in the beginning and it projects BIGGER in shorter distance than this VIEWSONIC. I was disappointed how it did NOT project that big. The color is a little bit off, not true to the original picture that is coming from(dvd, iPad, etc.). The sound is NOT loud at all. Youll need to hook up an external speaker. FINAL RATING: Clear picture, needs lots of room/ distance to make the picture bigger, color is off no matter how you adjust it. Over all, its a decent projector. This is my second week of owning it. Hopefully it will last a long time.

Lets start off with the best feature of this relatively low cost projector.... this thing is bright! I was looking for a projector to use as a full time entertainment system with either a Roku or Fire Stick that I could use at all times of the day without needing to keep the window blinds closed and after trying another more expensive (and more portable) device I decided to try this and Im so glad I did. The picture quality is really good and the colors are not washed out during the middle of the day with my 3 windows opened. Im currently using this against a semi yellowish flat wall and the picture quality is really good so I can only imagine the quality will be way better when I get a projection screen. The fan is not loud and you will only hear it if you are really close to the projector or when it revs up at shutdown to cool down the lamp. The not so great about this projector is the speaker... do yourself a favor and get an external speaker you can attach via the aux port as youll get crappy sound quality and will struggle to hear much of anything is a regular sized room.

Ive only had this projector about a month and used it for maybe 10 hours of actual running time, so there may be pros or cons I havent seen yet. I bought it mainly to show Power Point slides when teaching a Bible study. It has two big advantages over my older, cheaper projector: (a) The image is bright enough to be clearly visible in a well-lit room. The room where I teach has a bunch of fluorescent lights all controlled by one switch, so its either all on or all off. The image from this projector is clearly visible with a ceiling full of lights on. (b) It has a zoom, not a lot of range, but it gives some ability to size the image to the screen without having to move it back and forth on the table. The resolution on this is only SVGA, but thats plenty good for me. Mostly I show slides with a few lines of text and they show up very clear and distinct, easy to read. Occasionally I show a picture, and again, even full-screen images are very clear. I tried just playing with projecting a video and that also seemed fine. Oh, perhaps I should say that Ive been primarily using an HDMI cable. I also tried it with a standard monitor cable and I didnt notice any difference. It takes a bunch of different cables, I havent tried any others. The menu seems pretty easy to use, and in any case you dont access it much. The options are not very well documented, so you have to either guess what they mean from the one-line descriptions or experiment. For example, theres an "auto shut-off" option. I assumed this meant, if the image hasnt changed in X minutes it would turn off automatically, so like if you left the projector on and walked away it would turn itself off rather than burning out the bulb. But apparently theres nothing in there about "image hasnt change" or anything like that. It just shuts off after that time. So I set it to 20 minutes, and 20 minutes in to my first lecture with it, it just shut off. Then it wouldnt come back on. I had to unplug it and plug it back in. Im not saying its a bad feature, just would have been nice if there was some explanation of what all the functions do. I guess for most users, you just use the defaults and dont worry about all the fancy options.

This is a great projector. I bought it to replace my old projector when the bulb finally burned out (a fact of life with all projectors). Rather than spending $95 and an afternoon aligning the bulb in the old projector, I just got this one. I use it for presentations because its much more portable than a gigant-o-screen Tee Vee. It has just one flaw. If you connect with an HDMI cable, it pipes the sound through the speakers in the projector. The volume was extremely low, even when cranked all the way up on both the computer and projector, and it was very tinny. Cmon guys, cant you put better sound in there for $300? I still have to use the VGA cables and haul around external speakers for my presentations. By the way, if you are getting this projector portability, you *MUST* buy the PJ-CASE-008 carrying case. Youll be sorry if you dont.
