I owned Optoma project years ago (with one lamp change) and want to upgrade mine. So I bought the top-tier in 1920x1200 category. Love: * Super bright, even in my room under sunlight from window * 1.6x zoom is a lot, about 80" screen in 8 feet setup * Business projector for gaming means no video processing and less latency * Hack-ready: Ethernet port for remote control, no more RS-232C * Ports on side means you can put the projector as close to the wall as possible, projecting bigger screen * Built-in speaker is loud enough for home use, but you always want to upgrade it Okay: * Powered USB port for Miracast adapter * Analog audio output to connect to my Bose SoundLink speakers Hate: * 5-10 seconds for input change (HDMI1 -> HDMI2) * Lens control feel plastic and cheap, should add more fraction to lens control so you dont easily turn the lens too easily

If you get this product you are going to want the 3D glasses too. Battlefield V in 3D is da bomb. Walk through the fields and watch the grass brush past your head. Great picture even in moderate light. No need to buy 3D movies. This product converts movies to 3D. I was blown away be the capabilities of this projector.

Sharp image! It has potential to go even bigger, unfortunately our from is only that big. Watch 1080p movies like a champ!

We ordered this for use at our church annual meeting, to allow projected text to be easily read. Very nice image.

I will admit that up until I ordered this product I had never heard the brand name Optoma before and was a bit skeptical of how well this unit would work. Fortunately, the lack of a brand name really ended up making no difference and I found this model to perform incredibly well. I have tested a number of different projection systems over the past 1-2 years both at work and at home. Ive tested everything from low-end, Android-based TV projectors to high-end, brand-name commercial multimedia systems that cost upward of $1,000. I wont say that this is THE best product Ive tested thus far, but it certainly gives you high-end performance at a fraction of what most high-end projectors currently sell for. The top things I look for in a projector are contrast, brightness and sharpness of the picture. This model excels in each of these areas. The 3400 lumen bulb projects an incredibly bright picture that is easily visible in either closed rooms or even direct sunlight. Theres no need to even dim the lights to get a brilliant picture from this projector. Contrast obviously varies due to what you are projecting on to and the lighting conditions, but this model performed similarly to $1,000+ projectors that I have tried out over the last few months. The resolution on this model matches anything you are likely to find in the sub-$1,500 range with full HD quality. Along with the projector you also get an attractive bag to carry it in, a detachable lens cap, AC cord, remote, 2 AAA batteries for the remote and a CD containing the operating manual. You do not receive a printed copy of the manual. The manual that comes on the CD is pretty basic and is unfortunately common to several different models. Some of the things in the manual are applicable, some are not. Fortunately, this model has one of the simpler on-screen interfaces I have tested, so most people should be able to operate it out of the box without the need for referring to the manual. One of the neater functions not mentioned in the description is the devices web administration feature. Once you have properly set this unit up to operate on your LAN, you can access its internal web server to control various functions and view the projected image remotely. Honestly, I found the web interface MUCH easier to navigate than the manual buttons on top of the unit or even using the remote control. It allows you to easily access features that are otherwise a pain to get to in the on-screen menu. One of the more interesting functions that you can access from this menu are settings to offset the projected color balance for various colored walls or projection surfaces. You can easily pick from a number of colors and the system will automatically adjust the picture accordingly. I havent seen this on any other model of projector I have run across to date. You can also use the menu to toggle between theater, presentation and video game modes to optimize your picture for whatever application you are using it for at the moment. The included remote is pretty basic and unfortunately also common to a number of different models made by Optoma. This results in some of the buttons having absolutely no purpose for the model you happen to have. Its a minor quirk, but I found it a little odd. About the only downside worth mentioning about this model is how incredibly hot it gets in such a short amount of time. While I did not have any problems with the unit overheating, it is definitely not something that would be comfortable to use in a small room without air conditioning. The plastic case means that you do not ever have to worry about accidentally touching it and burning your hands, but the smell of overheated plastic can be a bit intense the first couple of times that you use it. The admin interface has a "high altitude mode" that you can use to increase the speed of the fan and improve airflow. This keeps the unit cooler than normal, but at the expense of making a bit more noise. Speaking of noise, the internal 10W speaker is plenty loud for most circumstances. The sound quality is nothing to brag about, but its no worse than any other projector I have tested. If you want quality sound, you should use the audio output on the back to input into a quality stereo system. This is an absolute must if you are using it as part of a home theater system. Overall, this is a fantastic projector for the price. I would say that it is probably better suited for presentations than it is for home theater, but it does a more than adequate job at both. When you take into account the huge amount of light output, screen resolution and features this model is an absolute bargain and definitely holds its own weight against its brand-name competitors.

I know this is a business projector, but for the price, it should be able to handle movies/videos pretty well too. First the positives: this projector can play through internal speakers, its very bright when projective white, easy to set up, has a simple but fitted carrying case, and its pretty quiet while running. Thats all to be expected of a projector of $300+. However, there were issues with playing videos, or at least, the problems were more obvious while playing videos. The overall color/images are not as bright or vibrant as my other projector (not an entertainment projector) that cost $200 7 years ago, even with adjusting the settings. I compared them side by side. But the kicker is that when theres a darker scene, its obvious that the brightness changes/flickers brighter, darker, every few seconds or so. Its subtle, but noticeable and annoying. Ive tried making sure all the cords are inserted fully when this happens, but determined thats not the issue. The unit also is heavier than my other projector and gets pretty hot. The foot design could be better too. Its the kind where its a screw you turn, but that takes forever. I prefer the feet that can be released and adjusted with a push of a button as on other projectors Ive dealt with/owned. So actually Im overall disappointed with this projector, after using it over the course of a year. The problems have persisted, and I just deal with it, but I definitely feel like for the price of the projector ($400+ at the time of this writing), youd be better off getting a projector thats good with displaying presentations (for business) AND HD videos (for entertainment).

Setup: Tested in the living room using my 100" screen at a distance of 11. Not much is included in the box--the projector in a case, with a remote and power cable. There are batteries and an owners manual on disc in the front pocket of the case. Setup was pretty straightforward, though navigating the menu isnt intuitive, it doesnt take long to figure out. It took me about 10 minutes to unpack, setup, adjust and start to use the projector from a flat surface. After adjusting the keystone, zoom and focus, and I was immediately satisfied. I have an Epson 1080p mounted to the ceiling at 11 as well, so I tried to do an apples to apples comparison. The differences were minimal. The Optoma appears a little brighter, while still maintaining good contrast, but image clarity was identical. One point worthy of mentioning is the zoom--you dont have a lot of range with this projector (1.1x zoom). Most of the sizing will need to be done by physically moving the projector closer or farther to get the size you need. You can change the aspect ratio between 16:9, 4:3, LBX, Native and Auto. The sound was just ok. It is fine for a presentation, but I wouldnt count on it for movies. You can hear the fan, but it isnt that noticeable--at least no more so than any other projector Ive seen or used. All-in-all, I think this is a great device. Im not in any way disappointed with it. The projection is clear and colorful, with plenty of brightness and contrast. Im very pleased.

Have been using multiple brands of projectors in business and home use for over a decade so I was happy to test out this new DLP projector and see how it compares. Likes: - Brand. Optoma has been one of the major brands for years and Ive had good experiences with their quality *and* their support department. In the past when I had an optoma projector that was acting up, they erred on the side of fixing it for me. This is the third optoma projector Ive used extensively. - Contrast. Not surprising for a DLP-based projector, but this thing has excellent contrast. This helps with visibility in brighter business scenarios, but looks stunning when you lower the lights. - 3600 lumens. Pretty bright for mid-sized meeting rooms and larger display sizes. - Lamp life: rated at 15k hours, which is great. - Connectivity: 2x HDMI plus "legacy" vga and composite video inputs. - HDMI audio-out is a nice touch, and comes in handy for some installations. - Price. Amazing what you can get for ~$600 these days. - Usual array of display modifiers: keystone, reverse, etc.. all work well. Dislikes: - No complaints so far. I will update this review if I encounter any issues in use.

Install Flash Player Ok, so the name is a little misleading. This can be used for far more than "business". In fact, were using it for pleasure (as you can see from the video). The video was shot outside on an inflatable projector screen with the Optoma projector sitting about fifteen feet away from the screen on top of a trashcan (cause thats what we had that was tall enough). Weve used it inside on a white painted wall as well with no issues. Setup is relatively easy. To setup: First you plug the power into the a/c outlet, and then plug the hdmi cable from the device youre using into the projector. Turn on (after removing lens cap) and twist to adjust focus. The screen was honestly harder to setup than the projector. There is no input lag. We hooked the Nintendo up to it and played games and theres no delay when youre using the controller to what is being shown on the screen. And the images are crisp (well as crisp as you get with Nintendo). I will say that you need to also hook some kind of speaker up to it; it obviously doesnt play sound on its own. In addition to the Nintendo, weve been able to plug a computer, raspberry pi, and Switch as well on it. Pretty much anything you can connect with an HDMI cable. The unit didnt seem to get too hot, even when using it for over an hour at a time. The fan you have to keep clear and seems to work properly and it isnt very noisy so that the sound of whatever youre running will cover up any operating noise. Nice projector! Were looking forward to many movie nights out on the lawn with it. Review by M. Reynard 2018

There are a lot of positives for this Optoma WU334 projector. Its quiet. Very bright. Lightweight. Projects a great 16:10 image for presentations. Has a storage/travel case. Long bulb life. Easy to set up. Two HDMI ports. Built in speakers. And many others. However, I would not recommend it for home theater use. It just is not designed for that. I called their sales department and they confirmed this. If you want a projector for home theater, choose a model that is designed for that purpose with 16:9 native resolution. Pretty straight forward. It will automatically scale to 16:9 but it looks over "processed" to me. I suppose if you didnt have anything to compare the WU334 to in a home theater environment, it might look pretty good. Color is great but it just doesnt have the detail that I am used to with a projector designed home theater use. Thats fine. They dont advertise or recommend it for that. It is not what this projector was intended to do. If you want bright, sharp graphics for presentations in 16:10 format and the other positives listed above, this may be just what you want.
