A friend of mine is an AV professional and told me I should spend around $5k on a projector + screen. Wife, however, disagreed. Its a crapshoot with these things, as I wasnt able to find a single place that would allow me to a/b various models in proper environment. Does it leave for something to be desired? Yes. But 5 stars none the less for the price to quality ratio. I have friends who paid 3 times more and got no significant benefit. Mounted this puppy to an 8 ceiling of my basement dedicated film room about 16 from a fixed frame 120" screen and could not be happier. The remote even has a laser pointer, which is incredible if you want to annoy a wife! I was gonna wait a year since we just moved into a much larger house that we are still outfitting and my desired budget was not approved by the aforementioned wife, but decided to take a chance and am very happy.

This Optoma EH416 project has been a big joy to own and use for training. This projector is bright with a great lens range while the fan sounds are barely noticeable by myself or the participants. I have personally used dozens of projectors over my career, many of them had short lives with some drawbacks. The Optoma EH416 has been a reliable platform and I have logged over 60+ hours of lamp use within a months time using this item. Pros: Bright clear image with the image shown on a plain white wall with the ballroom fully lite. Cons: Audio sound level transmitted via a HDMI connection does not take advantage of the full sound levels capable of the 10 watts built-in sound system - I wish the sound level was much louder. Also, everyone who has seen this unit in action has asked me if they can borrow the projector. :-) Bottom line this unit is a great performer for training in a bright environment and it does well with watching HD movies as well in business spaces. Very good projector. Bright! Used for church with lots of ambient light. Good adjustability. I was worried that the adjustments would not be stable, since it is permanently mounted to high ceiling. But no change after several weeks. Ethernet control is ok, but cumbersome. Ethernet is necessary since ir remote has such short range.

This is by far one of the best projectors on the market. I purchased this for a golf simulator and i love it. It was recommended by several golf blogs and i glad i made the decision to spend a little extra because the options are far better than its competitors.

This projector is awesome. Great picture, easy to set up. Great flexibility for all people that have larger rooms with smaller screens far away. I throw from 14ft to a 106" 16:9 screen..easily. Could also go back or forth 2ft more..adjustments allow for it. Awesome unit.

Very happy. I cant believe how bright it is at super eco brightness setting. Very easy to dial in to my 100" screen at 192" distance. Great picture right out of the box. Thanks to Avrant podcast for letting me know about Optima projectors.

Lightweight, good luminosity, very easy to use. I got this for my classroom, as the one the college provides is so poor. I have not yet tried the Stereoscopic 3D option as yet, but that would be a rare case. While the bag that comes with the projector is thin, it is sufficiently functional to carry an HDMI cable and a power cable. So yes, I like it. Just be aware that it has a short throw ... about 4 to 3 feet from the screen, but that is an option that I value.

The projector has worked great for us! It was decently easy to set up however there have been a couple issues. Sometimes it takes a little bit when switching slides for it to light up... Its like its turning on the lamp again or something But most importantly, I was sent the WRONG remote. I have tried asking a question, emailing optoma, and so now I am posting a review. I bought this back in March and still have not been able to figure out how to get them to send me the correct remote. So, OPTOMA if you see this please send me the right remote?? :) Overall great for what we need but really need to be able to switch between inputs and cannot do that without a remote...

I have bought this projector to use it at home in my room projecting on the wall... this is my first projector but i have done a lot of research before buying it... it gets super hot but it is said that all the projectors get that hot. the picture quality is great. Heard about the rainbow effect for DLP projectors while doing my research and can notice it. it is only notable when there is white object (or subtitles) with a dark background picture and you start moving your eyes quickly from one point to another. a bit distracting but I think its something common in all DLP projector as far as i know. but generally its very nice and I am happy (until now :D) that i bought it... bought it from 1 week.

Great projector for the price, we use it for outside movies. Its nice and bright and with plenty of good connection options. Menu are simple and easy to navigate, making it a good choice for fast setups.
