I recently purchased a BenQ MH530FHD unit and for the most part, Ive been incredibly satisfied with the product. Unfortunately, however, I am running into an issue with the sound output that could cause me to have to return the item if it cannot be resolved. I first tried running a BluRay player into the projector and then connecting the projector to my soundbar via the Aux output. With this method/setup, the audio was completely inaudible and so rendered my BluRay player completely incompatible with my new home theater setup. While this is annoying, it wasnt the end of the world as I figured I would just connect my FireStick to the projector and then run the sound to my soundbar from the projector (as I assumed the issue was coming from the BluRay player audio incompatibility). I was both right and wrong in this assumption. The sound thats then sent through to the soundbar, through the Aux output on the projector, is definitely louder and more audible than compared to the BluRay connection however at full volume on both the projector and the soundbar, it is still nowhere near where it would need to be in order to be a decent/usable home theater setup. I know that the issue now must be with the output from the projector itself because the soundbar, when connected directly to my laptop using the same Aux cable, produces an incredibly loud sound (to the point where I cant actually have it on full volume). This has meant that my current setup for watching movies/shows is having my laptop connected to the projector via HDMI, and then my soundbar connected to my laptop via Aux cable. So I have three things sitting on a shelf, wires hanging everywhere and am having to use a computer mouse as the remote to control the setup. Which again is not what I envisioned when I invested almost $500 on the BenQ Home Theater Video Projector. I am hoping that this is either simply a faulty unit or an issue that BenQ can help resolve/guide me towards a resolution as aside from the sound issue, I have been very satisfied and excited by the product itself.

Not sure why this is getting great reviews. For 1080p streaming movies it is fine. 1080i TV is flat out terrible. Contrast blares and the picture has greenish tint. My low price epson I bought 5 years ago is still better than this. I see rainbow constantly and the picture while watching sports has no sharpness. The brightness feature is also weak. Some calibration settings cannot be used except for the best of signals so you cant correct many TV broadcasts. Thinking of returning. Not sure if my unit is defective but I am pretty sure it just isnt very good. Imo not very bright for the lumens stated.
