I ordered this thing based on the numerous positive reviews here but after wasting 2 hrs trying to get it to work as advertised the only review here that matches my experience is the one star review by Susan Henry. In her review she noted that she wasnt able to get it to work with either her iPad or iPhone, which I also use. I had the same experience as hers. Based on that I suspect that this thing wont work with Apple products which isnt noted in any of the ads or literature. It comes with HDMI cable which needs a lightning digital AV adapter in order to plug in iPhone/iPad. But when plugged into the HDMI port of the thing all I get is "No Signal" even though the instructions claim that the mobile units screen should show up. At first i thought I had a faulty adapter cable so I bought another one and got the same results. My devices were fully charged and ready to go but "No Signal". The thing also comes with two thumb drives. One is a normal thumb drive while the other one has plugs built into it for USB and HDMI. I plugged the normal one into my iMac and loaded some jpegs on it but when I plugged it into the thing I got the message "Empty Folder". I then used two other thumb drives of my own that I know work and got the same results. "Empty Folder". I then changed the formats of the jpegs to png and bmp with the same results. "Empty Folder". The thing comes with 2 Quick Start guides. One basically tells the user how to turn the thing on and off. The other, in extreme fine print, starts out explaining how to connect a smartphone using a wireless connection which I hoped would be a way around the non-working USB and HDMI ports. I wasted time following the instructions to the letter but to no avail. It wasnt until I looked below the fold of the guide that I read this in fine print..."You cannot connect the product to a mobile phone through the Bluetooth function." Then I went online to the things site and followed the links to troubleshooting for Apple products. The site instructed that to get it up and running it had to be done from an iMac desktop. My iMac desktop isnt in my studio and I wasnt about to move it in order to maybe get the thing to work as advertised. The whole point was to be able to use mobile devices with it but I could find nothing online regarding how to use it with iPhone/iPad. So that was a dead end. However, I was able to find a number on the site for customer support given that I could find no such number in any of the guides/manuals that comes with the thing. One of the reasons that I bought the thing was the promise of lifetime support. Unfortunately I learned after the fact that lifetime support doesnt include weekends and I suspect holidays too. The only time I have to work in my studio is on the weekends and this was a Saturday. So in regard to support when i needed it the most, I was SOL. At that point I called Amazon for a return/refund. Thankfully Amazon has customer support 24/7 and they emailed a return address for me to send the thing back asap. Theres no reason why something that costs this much shouldnt work as advertised. This would be a great product if it worked and Im still looking for something that fits the bill. If anyone out there knows of such a product and it works with Apple products, Id be very grateful to learn about it. BTW I do have an Artograph Super Prism Art Projector that uses an incandescent 250w bulb. But it has to be used in an almost totally dark room in order to see the projected image. Ive been using it for years though and despite the shortcomings its still better than the Flare 150 because it works.
