I shipped this player back two/three days after receiving because it did not operate properly. I have used it only to play DVDs. The player would play beautifully until right before a movie ended. At this point it froze. The entire player seem to freeze not just the DVD. I could not get the DVD to skip forward or backward. The machine would not eject the DVD by using either the remote or the button on the player. Neither would the power on and off button work either using the remote or the button on the player. The player had to be completely disconnected from the power source nd then reconnected to eject the DVD. However, attempting to replay the ending resulted in the same thing happening each time. The problem started with the second DVD I played. First was fine. The next three all froze. Since I use DVDs from Netflix I did not want to chance the machine deciding not to operate at all and losing the DVD completely. In addition, having a player that you could not see the end of the movie was not really practical. I am the first to admit I am horrible with technology and only planned on using the player for DVDs. It is possible there was some secret I did not know about that I could have fixed this but I dont like having to fool with things. I am willing to setup but then I want it to work. I liked the size of the machine and, as I said earlier, it seem to work great until approaching the end of the disk. I did not have it connect to the internet so I can not speak to any of the other features.

This works great out of the box! Outstanding picture quality. I bought it for my dad because I am moving and taking the PS4. He is not very technical but he loves this device and has no problem using it. Kudos for the buttons for Netflix and captioning!

It does what I needed but it tends "lag" alot in the apps. I have to count how many time I clicked the button to end up on the letter I want to press because its that slow. maybe .5-1 second of delay between pressing a button and having it register on screen. You cannot open the disc tray while watching neflix or in other apps, which is very annoying if you get netflixs dvds like I do and want to package it up to send back but someone else is using the netflix app. One other negative with this is that the only buttons on the unit are the power and to open and close the tray, if you loose the remote good luck using this.

A good price for a blu-ray player. Keep in mind this is a striped down, no frills, model. The top does come to a point so no stacking anything on top of this, like a cable box or anything. Works fine. The remote control is on the small side, half the size of a usual one. All in all, not bad for the money. It has very little display on the front of it so, because mine is in the master bedroom, the display doesnt light up the room when were trying to sleep. I would suggest this for a bedroom,an office waiting room, etc.

Worked great out of the box and was like new. No batteries in remote so be prepared to supply your own. I have never been disappointed with a Sony product.

Good product. Had a problem with the first one freezing up, went to amazon and only one drop down menu question for why I was returning it, and immediately sent me a free shipping label to return it, sent it out, had a refund very quickly and a new one on the way. The new one works fine. Love how the menu looks, and works smoothly. Would purchase again.

Wow. Horrible. I have always bought Sony BR players because they invented the technology, right? I never liked the UI, But I do commit to a brand... Stupid me. I’m cool with the 50 button remote. But I only used this product 40 times over 2 years and it failed tonight. Several times. I buried it in my neighbors yard :) I will never buy a Sony player again. You should be wise and do the same...

No wifi is a bummer, but my router isnt great anyways so when I get no signal in the other room, having the player plugged in is good anyways. It inexplicably doesnt have Spotify (but does have weirdly specific sports apps and Russian video streaming apps) and as far as I can tell theres no way to upgrade the software to include new apps. But it has Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, so it does most of what I want it to.

Not impressed. ....I bought this at the end of Oct for a second home. We just started using this Christmas break. The first time we used it the piece fell off . Then a couple days into using it when you put the movie in and try to push play with the remote it goes to a setting that says reset Internet . It will not play . You end up spending 15 to 2o min of messing with it to get a movie to play. By the time you get it to work everyone waiting to watch the movie is so irratated they go do something else.....

bought this to replace an old sony blue ray player that stopped working. it looks great out of the box. small and streamlined. the only blip in the set up -----being that i am incredibly electronically challenged----is that everything now comes only with HDMI connections-- i was expecting the little red/white/yellow hook ups. and the issue was me- i couldnt find the second HDMI outlet on the tv!! once that was located -- thank goodness --hookup was a breeze --worked great right out of the box. only did the simple set up -- because linking it to wifi and netflix is way beyond my abilities. and now with the hdmi cable we dont need to disconnect the wii whenever we want to watch a movie.
