Unit is defective, so returned. Bought new and it worked. Am an EE. Due to reviews immediately tried all features, especially the WiFi. It took several tries, but it finally connected to my WiFi. Then it would not connect to any of the apps. So there is a problem with this units WiFi and internet connection. Matches the other 1 star reviews. Seems the refurb units are not undergoing thorough testing. Found exact same model at Walmart for less than $10 more new. All worked as expected. the JM57 has a lot of features. Tested the disc player, the USB (photos, movies, music), and Wifi with Apps (Amazon, YouTube, Netflix) all worked with good HD quality and no dropouts. Still trying to get Plex Media to work, sees the server but not the content. Amazon description states it has Samsung AllShare - it does not; wanted to try the mirror function - oh well. The refurb directions direct to the online manual download, the JM57 manual is not there. Suggest buying new, if looking for Samsung AllShare or newer Hub and Link, buy newer 4K model.

As the title says, it arrived broken...and late. Many broken plastic pieces rattling around inside, as well as the main plastic button hanging out clearly busted.

Literally did not work in any way, power button or remote. A lemon, a dud. I did not realize I was purchasing a refurbished item (mea culpa). I called on Monday January 14th and voicemail said “we are closed for the holidays and I will return your call”. What holiday? I would like to use their calendar and be on holiday too. The voice was in the first person, not representative of a professional business. You may get a working product, but this is a fraudulent business from my experience. Caveat emptor.

If someone could explain to me why Blu-ray players never reached the useability of DVD players that would be great. Now on to the review, we have been using a PS3 for years as our primary Blu-ray player, after some recent issues playing some newer discs I decided to finally get a stand alone player. After seeing the price of new players I took a shot at a refurbished one. This thing is awful!, constantly freezing and becoming unresponsive. I dont know if its an awful refurbish job or just an awful player. I feel like the whole Blu-ray format is flawed to some extent because even the PS3 would get flakey on some discs and menus but nothing like this piece of garbage. Once you navagate the mess to actually get the disc to play the player doesnt seem to have any issues there. The wireless seems to work fine but its not my primary streaming device, attached to a smart TV with a fire stick. Due to the lack of interaction I will refrain from considering it part of my review. Physically the device is pretty small, about the size of 6 DVD cases stacked in 2 piles side by side. The plastic looks particularly cheap, not saying it is, it just looks cheap. The remote is cherry on this awful sundae, in my case its extra aggravating, I have a Samsung TV and this acts as a bit of a universal remote but some buttons dont work and some do the wrong function. Overall I dont know how long I will torment myself with this aggravation but as long as the discs eventually play I guess we will keep using it. But again seriously why havent these reached the level of maturity of DVD players, and I can recall buying refurbished DVD players for $10 why are these so expensive for how little they do.

Doesn’t work at all, a complete waste of time and money. When I turn the unit on, it asks for the setup language, as soon as I press any button, it turns off no matter the button. Basically a $70 paperweight. The box it came is was more useful. The door for the disc is also stuck open (was willing to overlook if it actually worked). Returning and shopping elsewhere for a blu-Ray/dvd player. Don’t waste your time, purchase literally any other player.

The first one arrived and it didnt work. It was a bit inconvenient but happens occasionally. Went through the usual steps for a replacement and a few days later the replacement arrived. It Didnt Work either. Plus had to pay shipping to return them. Got my money back this time. Wont waste time or money on this again.

Bought product to watch BluRay and connect to internet. Sent 1 unit back after owning a few weeks because everything shut down and unit wouldnt respond to remote or pushing buttons on device. Got a replacement unit and less than 2 weeks later its done the same thing. :(

I own this same Samsung blu ray player but about 2 months ago I got a "system is updating time please try again later" message whenever I tried to use the apps. It never went away. So, because my son is 5 and this player is in his room and he knows how to use it, I decided to purchase a "renewed" one. This one is doing the exact same thing. And when I received it and opened it the blu ray players packaging looked like it had been tampered with. Im going to return it and try one more time. Hopefully I will be able to edit this post with a better review.
