The Xerox WorkCentre 6515 DNI is on heck of a printer! That is until you try to set it up for all your functions. Out of the box its beautiful, well designed, and heavy. Depending on your setup and what you actually want to use it for, it can be very easy or very, very, very difficult. I first set it up, plugged in a USB cable, followed the directions, installed the software -- bam! I was printing to my hearts content. Color is impressive, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. I then tried to set it up with my network via the WiFi. The pain began. Setting this up through the control panel on the panel is a pain and painfully slow. I tried and tried to set it up and finally had to settle on the WiFi button process. No huge deal in and of itself but I shouldnt have had to stumble around to find that work around. So now I have it printing via USB and WiFi, Great! Right? Well not really. The literature on line tells you that it is best to have the printer hooked to your network via an Ethernet cable to your router so that you can then share it with other computers. Okay, no big deal! I plug in the Ethernet cable and unplug the USB port and now the nightmares begin. Waking the printer up to actually print becomes a problem. Getting the printer to work with dynamically assigned IP addresses is a problem. I spent several days working out these bugs. In that process I became very familiar with having to log in via the computer to the printers IP address to get to its control panel via the internet in order to go through a lot of settings and set up issues. Even at this point I have still not gotten the fax to work properly at all. Along the way to get the scanner to work, after many tries to get it to scan to a folder on my computer. I called tech support, only to find out, that A. I must set up a log-in to my computer; and B. I must also set up a log-in to the printer. What a freaking pain in the rump for a family computer. Now my children have to log-in via "1234." This printer while exceptional in quality is not designed or meant for the home computer user at all. Unless youre an IT professional with a whole heck of a lot of time on your hands .... good luck.

Xerox has been making this printer for nearly 2 years. Cannot believe there are only 31 reviews as of 09/10/18. Surely Xerox has sold more than 31 printers or they would be out of business. I have a theory that people are more likely to come here and make a negative comment than to come here and write a positive comment. My 12 year old color Samsung laser printer died and I was looking for a new color, duplex, scanner, printer when I found this printer. This printers output is hundreds of time better than my 12 year old Samsung. 1. This printer is much faster than my old Samsung. The color output is much better than my old laser printer. 2. I had no problems setting up the scanner to scan to my computer. 3. I had no problems setting up my Android phone to print to the Xerox using wi/fi. 4. I was not able to test the fax since I do not have a wired phone line. =========== Not everything works perfectly though. 1. When installing the printer drivers from the 2 year old instillation CD, the installation program asked to download the newest drivers from Xerox, I said yes. Unfortunately I was not able to print from my Windows 10 computer with the new June 2018 drivers. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled using the 2 year old drivers from the CD without downloading the updated drivers. Now I am able to print from my computer. 2. Some options like "Scan to Email", and "Scan to Desktop", as best as I can understand the manual, need a dedicated network workstation to work. This is no big deal to me as I can scan to my computer, then add the scan as an attachment to my email. Overall I love this printer and am looking forward to many years of colorful printing.

The software that this comes with is next to impossible. We still cannot get it to scan. Tried calling customer support for assistance and was on hold so long that I had to hang up. Before the person transferred me I explained that I cannot get this thing to work because its to complicated and he kind of chuckled. They must be getting a lot of calls like this.

Do not buy! This printer is being used as a door stop in my office because it is incredibly undependable and cannot be used with DHCP and has the worst network connectivity of any printer I have purchased in 30 - years. It will be a constant headache and there is no way to scan from the computer due to the incredibly bad networking capabilities of this printer and it refuses to access the extra 500 - pave paper feeder, purchasing that was a major mistake. Xerox provides the worst support (almost as bad as HPs support. Do yourself a favor and avoid ALL Xerox printers or any printers offered on Amazon if you are using them for a business. These printers will not work with any of the popular routers and unless you set a static IP address, it will not work the second the leased DHCP IP address expires.

All Ive had is problems. I hired a professional to come install for me, 12 hours later still no scanning. It just simply wont work. Called the company, get sent to a different phone number, they never answer or return calls. It constantly goes "offline" and will take 15 or 20 minutes of restarting the machine to get it back online, this drives me nuts. So far, I wouldnt recommend it.

Setup on the Macs was really simple. Setup on the Windows was a bit of a chore. The touch interface is a bit sluggish. WiFi connection to the network was not solid. Seemed like the printer would go into sleep mode and then not reconnect. Sometimes. On a whim. Anyway, something odd was going on and I didnt bother to spend time sorting it out. Connected unit via ethernet to the network and has been reliable since then. Scan quality seems adequate with max resolution of 600ppi. Scan interface from the computer is limited; okay for office work but not a quality art/photo scanner interface with lots of fine tuning. The autodetect scan area can be annoying, often finding a half-gazillion "regions". Ive found the scanner app may crash if there are multiple regions available on the scan preview, one is selected, and scanning is attempted. This may subsequently result in an error, then the scan button becomes unavailable. Then its a bunch of fussing to get the thing going again. Did not bother with attempting scanning from the touch interface. Print quality is good. Printing is quick. Works well with iPads/iPhones. I didnt bother with the fax; no landline. Used as a copier it seems fine. Printer is relatively quiet. Wake from sleep is quick.

I liked all the features of the printer and the copier and the scanner. It was a great printer while it was working. Then one day without warning it stops. Now I understand this is assembly line electronics, so they are bound to have a few problems. I always feel that as a consumer patience is the way to take care of this, after all if the company meticulously checked everything part before shipping it wed never be able to afford it. What I do expect however is a response when I go through the trouble of looking up their warranty and how to file a claim, I expect some sort of answer. So far Ive received not so much as an acknowledgement that I even exist. If that changes Ill amend this review.

This is a terrific machine. Its more commercial than I was expecting. I bought it for home use and its probably a bit overkill for that - but as they work to close out the model inventory, its a great value. The images are crisp and clean. The double-siding function works very well. Its easy to map the scan function to a share folder on your computer. I did not succeed in setting up scan to email - but this is admittedly one of the most complex operations for an MFP to perform. I have not tried again and need to spend more time with it. It has a "real" paper tray and bypass tray. It seems like it will stand up to use for many years. The toner cartridge being separate from the drum cartridge means that you dont pay to replace both - just toner, and then I suppose eventually the drum cartridges. However, at less than $400 for this printer, it may just be time to replace the printer when the drum cartridges start to run out. Very intuitive user interface. Terrific print quality (and the pages "feel" very pro - no curling). Prints very rapidly and reliably. Also a great copier. It has a fax module that I havent used, but Im glad that its there for the random times when a fax is necessary these days. It was a great investment and its been a solid addition to my home office over the past two months of use.

Update 5/13/2018: The printer is now giving an unrecoverable error. Apparently it cannot access the HDD and its unusable. I get the privilege of calling Xerox, again, and having them come out and fix it, again. This is unacceptable for a printer that is only 8 months old with only 12,000 prints. Once this printer is out of warranty and breaks down, Im going to take a baseball bat to it and go with another brand. I will never purchase another Xerox printer again. ****** Previous review: 2 of 5 stars I purchased this machine in September and it broke down in March (about 7 months). After contacting Xerox customer support, it took them over a month and a half to fix the problem because the part was on back order. Perhaps the engineers need to go back to the drawing board on this one. On the bright side, the printing quality is fine and fast enough for me. In addition, there are some other problems experienced: 1) The wireless networking functions are spotty, at best. Ive spent hours on end trying to figure out what the problem is and it all came back to the Wifi. On a hard wire, this thing is fairly rock solid, but with Wifi, it fails miserably. 2) The Google printing function does not work. Again, Ive spent about 8 hours trying to figure this one out, and it just doesnt work. This is one of the biggest reasons why I purchased this printer. The fact that it doesnt work was a huge let down. 3) Setting this thing up is a beast. In addition, trying to set user permissions is a huge pain in the rear end. I still have a hard time understanding how I was actually able to accomplish this task. 4) The duplex print function worked fine at first. This was another big reason why I purchased this machine. Now, the machine jams more often than not. Ive only got about 12,000 prints out of this thing and its already failing in this area. 5) One set of genuine standard capacity toner cartridges costs $428. The basic printer costs $349 and the full featured printer costs $449. The cost for toner replacements is outrageous when compared to the cost of the machine. The only reason why I give this machine two stars is because after a month and a half, Xerox finally came through and fixed the darn thing. I get that sometimes parts are on back order, but we took a financial hit using other printers for a month and a half because this thing was down. Overall, I cannot recommend purchasing this until Xerox fixes the many flaws in this machine.

Overall this printer is decent, especially for the price. The email functionality is a great improvement over the previous generation 6505 and the 2 sided document feeder is pretty slick. But setup was a bear to get everything working. There were lots of networking issues, especially to scan to a network share that has been in use here for years. And once all of that was squared away, 75% of my Windows users couldnt see the printer on the network so I had to run the installer individually on each workstation as an administrator. After everyone could finally use the printer, we quickly found out that about 1 in every 5 pages or so would get a very odd diagonal crease in it. I opened a support ticket with Xerox, and they quickly sent a tech out the next day. He spent quite a bit of time trying to test and replace various parts in the paper path. Once he did all he could, he called into Xerox and went through more troubleshooting with the phone rep. Ultimately a part of the paper feed tray needed to be removed as apparently this is a semi-known emerging issue. With all of that hassle behind us, the printer has been great in the first month of office use. The color is crisp and clear, black text is nice and sharp. Toner lasts a decent amount of time, and all my users love the scan to email option that we were lacking before. Overall I am happy with the printer now that it is fully deployed and would recommend it but only if you have a very simple configuration, or you dont mind spending time and frustration getting it to work like it should.
