Xerox Phaser with Cyan, Magenta , Yellow and Black Standard Capacity Toner Cartridges

This is a very good printer. Its fast, and the output is high quality. However, there are two things you should know about it. 1. The color toner cartridges that come installed are paltry, only lasting for a few hundred pages. I was not expecting this, and ran out in the middle of a print job that I needed the next day. And the printer wont keep printing with whatever residual toner is left in the cartridge. It just refuses to print. So, youre going to be out several hundred more dollars for your first set of toner cartridges, if you buy Xerox. Im going to try a many times cheaper, non-OEM set. 2. When I set up the printer on my Mac desktop, it continually lost the connection. The printer was connected to the network, and I could print to it with my iPad, but the desktop reported it as "not connected". When I deleted the printer and set it up again without using Xeroxs software, it worked fine.

So far so good with my new 6510. Four stars because it still uses an 80s technology LCD/buttons interface at the printer. You really only have to use that to configure WiFi (never if you go wired). Once connected, use your browser and the printers web interface. Most everything can be accomplished there. The installed toner cartridges are typical new printer capacities. They are estimated at 1500 pages black and 1000 for the 3 colors. I dont print a ton, so theyll still last a while. A warning: Xerox replacement cartridges have significant cost. More $$$ than the printer itself to replace with a standard capacity set. There are cheaper compatible cartridges out there, but have yet to see reported results with those and this printer. That said, the toner, even at Xerox pricing, is about 50% cheaper per page than the HP ink jet Im replacing. Considering ink cartridges often malfunction and dry up prior to end of life, I expect even greater cost savings over the long run with this . All-in-all, Im happy with the purchase. An excellent printer. Shipping was a day late, tracking was completely fouled up and UPS delivered it tipped over on its side (box clearly marked to keep upright). Not typical of Amazon Prime delivery.

I love the printer. I bought it to replace a 10 year old Xerox Phaser 6180DN. The 6510 prints much faster and has good color reproduction. I love the fact that I can print from my iPhone and iPad, too. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it was difficult getting it connected to the network. My network router is older and doesn’t have an auto connect fearure. I had to do something different from the Xerox directions to get access to the printers control panel over the network. Following Xeroxs directions did not work. I finally found the default URL of the printer at an online forum.
