I bought this printer less than 11 months ago to replace a Brother mono laser printer that needed repairs that cost as much as this printer. I had used the Brother printer for more than 3 years. In the 10 1/2 month period that I have owned the Lexmark, I have used the toner cartridge that came with the printer, one high capacity toner cartridge, and about 1/2 of another. Im a fairly heavy user, but I dont use it as a copier. This last week the printer started printing "wonky." No solid streaks, but the occasional vertical line. Other places had insufficient toner applied. I cleaned the printer thoroughly, and still have the problems. Time for a new printer. The durability issue knocks 2 stars off the rating. Ive decided to go back to Brother for the durability issue and because printing letterhead or envelopes on the Brother is far easier than on the Lexmark. The Lexmark requires that I change the printer settings and push the "OK" button to feed the letterhead or envelope. Seconds add up to minutes, and minutes add up to hours. I dont have to take those extra steps with a Brother. The nuisance of having to adjust my workflow to accommodate the printer knocks another star off my review. If your not a heavy user of a printer, this isnt a bad model. Its just not as good as a similarly-priced Brother.
