One shouldnt have to share their phone contact list and GPS location to print a picture. You cant do anything with this printer without doing the above. Also, the color blue is really washed out.

I have wanted a portable photo printer for a long time, so when I was offered the HP Sprocket, I was excited. Setting it up was simple enough - download the app, connect via Bluetooth. Thats where the simplicity ends. After you select a photo that you want to print from your device, you have the option of editing your photo. I had a photo that needed some cropping and centering. Heres where this product earned its first negative. You can only crop a photo and maintain aspect ratio. Unfortunately, that wouldnt work with this particular photo, so if we wanted to print it, Id have to edit the photo on my device first. First strike. Second strike is that theres no way to refresh your camera roll within the app. My granddaughter sent me a picture that she wanted me to print. Because the app was already open before I saved the picture to my device, I had to force close the app and start all over in order to see the picture in my camera roll. The quality of the photo is strike three. The photo I tested the printer with was a professional photograph, so the colors were nearly flawless. The end result produced way too much blue. Yes, the original photo contains more blue hues than any other color, but even the skin and face came out with a blue tint. My overall thoughts - this is probably good for printing for fun with frames and filters. But if you want a halfway decent quality photo, this may not be the right device to choose.

Easy to set up and use. The colors are way off and requires quite a bit of retouching and color correction in other apps before printing will come out just OK. Also the app does not work unless you allow GPS location permissions which has nothing to do with printing pictures from a phone. I dont like it why would hp need to know where I am when I print photos. Ill keep it as a novelty but not good enough for scrapbooks. I bought more hp branded zink paper with the same results.

You get what you pay for. These are not going to be super high quality but they can be great for a very niche community. I bought this HP Sprocket printer for my wedding reception guest book. We decided to elope and host mini-receptions throughout the year for various groups of friends and family. This idea of a picture guest book was a great way to tie everything together. I purchased the personalized guest book from an Etsy shop and I purchased the printer and paper from Amazon. The pictures do print out a warmer hue than the originals but I didn’t care. I set my phone up with a selfie stick and let people print from my phone, we only had about 15 guests per party so I didn’t mind leaving my phone out for their use. Overall these printers and photo paper packets are great!! I only gave it 4 stars because of how they print out a little warm and because we’re using this at parties, I didn’t want to have to explain to everyone to adjust the coloring before printing, etc. The majority of our attendees don’t do snap chat or have super active instagram accounts so they aren’t as savvy with taking selfies and adjusting filters and such (including ourselves) so I want something that’s easy plug and play but still takes decent pictures (my phone vs those Instax cameras). I also prefer the older design. I hate the speckled look as well as the gritty feel the top of the printer has on this new design. I only bought it because this is the newest version of the Sprocket (not including the Speocket Plus) and newer is supposed to be better right? Changing out the paper is stupid easy and the printer is really really easy to use. If you understand what you’re getting when you buy this printer, you really won’t be disappointed. Everyone’s reviews have been so thorough, I knew what I was getting and so far I haven’t had any surprises.

This was purchased as a gift, however I have been an avid user since setting it up. The first thing to recognize is that this is not professional photo printer, so if that is the use case you are purchasing for it would be best to look at other products. As a fun and convenient gadget (I don’t want to use the term “toy”) it’s pretty great. Out of the box it’s about the size of a cell phone (a bit more thick). Set up is straight forward, simply plug it into a USB outlet and let it charge. Photos are printed via the HP Spocket downloadable app, which has an easy to use interface. After downloading the app, it will automatically connect to your printer and there you go! All ready to print! The two by three photos that print have a bit of color washout (think old Polaroid photos) but print in less than 30 seconds. The fact that the printer is portable and photo paper refills aren’t very expensive are great features. My mother (whom this was bought for) brings it with her and prints and shares photos with her friends! I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a cool photo printer to print quick snapshots on the go!

I have a camera that takes this sized pictures ( I was about to say Polaroids). However the genius here is that you can call up your photo archive and make a super crisp post-it style photo. This Sprocket was very easy to set up and I was making prints in minutes. It comes with 10 2x3” blanks. These are wonderful for dropping into a note, letter or thank you. The Zink film paper has a peel off back for sticking. You can move it around like a post-it, it isn’t glue. Works off my iPad Pro as easily as my phone. Just so much fun. Set up instructions are clear and very quick.

I like this portable photo printer, it does not have the prettiest color but I had numerous occasions where guests were connected to the printer and print what they like. Everyone enjoyed having a little photo sticker as a souvenir to the event (like of like japanese purikura). What I wish I knew before I start using - 1. photo paper is a bit expensive (~$0.50 per sheet when it is no on sale). Sometimes Amazon goes half off, so keep and eye out and stock up when there is a sale. 2. cool picture under something flat like a magazine. This printer utilise ZINK printing technology (heat) to print, so if the photo just leave cooling on a table by itself, it will curl up. It is not a big deal if it is used as a sticker, but wont look as good it is just left up to hang. Putting something on top while cooling can mitigate most of the curling.

Easy to set up and use but wanted other photos. I may consider buying the bigger version. Also the photo quality is not that great.

This is complete junk. Will never connect to phone and the battery will not stay charged. Had to call Amazon support to get it to connect just now. Battery was at 100% and I printed two photos and now it is at 20%. Amazon support transferred me to HP Support and they have no idea what a Sprocket printer is!!! They kept asking me if I used an Windows or Mac computer! Total waste of $130.

A fantastic little hand-sized printer that prints with the sink in the small photo papers and the photos are just the right size to include in a card, as well as to keep for myself in a much smaller space
